I'm not sure it will be your cup of tea, but you may want to try If Angels Burn if you like dark stuff. I really like the Darkyn series.
Try The Breed series by Lara Adrian. It is very good and reminds me a lot of the BDB.
You could also check out Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series.
Both are definitely NOT YA. ;-)
Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark is really good. Lara Adrian's Breed books are great. At first I thought of them as BDB lite but then I started to appreciate them on their own. Very entertaining.
Lynsay Sands' Argeneau Vampires is a light entertaining read.
As much as it pains me to say, Anita Blake Vampire Hunter actually starts off pretty good, but somewhere around book 9 or 10 she takes a trip to "get the hell outta here with that mess" land and hasn't come back yet. Worth a listen but you can decide for yourself.
Laura Wright Mark of the Vampire series
I just finished the Guardians of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy and absolutely LOVED IT!! The 1st book is
. I highly recommend this series!

You are so right about Anita Blake - what a hot mess! Every time I finish one of her more recent books I vow that I will never read another one......until the next one comes out and I just have to read it. Its like a train wreck that you just can't look away from....
yup that's exactly how I describe it. I figure after 22 books I just gotta know how this trainwreck ends, but it seems as if LKH has no designs on stopping....le sigh...

Molly Harper - Jane Jameson (vampires, family disfunction, romance)
Bartlett - Glory St Clair (vampires, some action, romance/little sex)
Bardsley - Brokenheart Oklahoma (vampires, wolfs, jaguar, fae, action, romance)

I just started Morganville Vampires and I don't..."Beth Fantaskey has a YA series, 1rst book is Jessica's Guide To dating On The Dark Side. 2nd book is Jessica Rules The Dark Side (has Jessica's wedding in it, but the wedding is also on the author's website). Pretty good for a YA series. Good twists. The first book she's a HS senior & he's a exchange student staying with her parents in PA. 2nd book they're married & living in Europe and dealing with backstabbing and warring vampire families. Both books move along.
Wings in the Night series by Maggie Shayne is a good series. Though not a vampire series, if you like BDB you would probably like Lords of the Underworld.
Have you tried
I thought it was pretty fun and I am a huge fan of the Love at Stake series :D Heather-

Heather, I did try the Undead series, think I only got through one book and moved on to something else. I might have to give the rest of the series a try soon.I decided to try out the Breed series next, thanks for all the recommendations!! I wish there was a way to bookmark this topic :\
Im so glad someone started this one I to am looking for another vampire series. I would suggest
dark hunters or
Riley jenson
Julie Kagawa has a new series that just started this month. Audio Sample
In a future world, vampires reign. Humans are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save humanity.
Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten.
Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them. The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked—and given the ultimate choice. Die…or become one of the monsters.
Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad.
Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend—a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike.
But it isn't easy to pass for human. Especially not around Zeke, who might see past the monster inside her. And Allie soon must decide what—and who—is worth dying for.
I generally prefer vampires as well, but I highly recommend the Georgina Kincaid series even though the main characters aren't vamps.
I really love the Jane Jameson books. They are really funny:

.Also, I'm currently reading the second book in the Immortality Bites series, and really enjoying it so far:

. Both series are funny and have romance as well.
Right now I'm finishing Immortal Guardians series by Dianne Duvall that is quite similar to BDB you mentioned you liked. I also really loved Georgina Kincaid, Vampires in America and Dark Hunter series.

The Undead series is good until the book before the last one released. That one is so weird & confusing, and just made you shake your head wondering where things went wrong.

The Jane Jameson series is funny. Did you try Driving Mr Dead? Just as funny, and is suppose to be a spin off from the Jane series.
