The "I-Must-Not-Buy-Any-More-Books" Thread
I am itching to make a purchase...Esp. since Name of the Wind is out on paperback, I've been dying to read that.
CRAP!!! I just did it...placed an order on Amazon. I suck.I got good stuff though :)
Pre ordered Catching Fire
also got:
The Name of the Wind
Heaven's Net Is Wide
The Harsh Cry of the Heron
Hood
Oooh but for Catching Fire... mmmmm no must not buy. I didn't buy the first one, I shouldn't buy the second! Gah! I will be jealous when you're reading it before me though and I'm patiently awaiting a library copy.. or rather impatiently...

BUT I promised my hubby after my order I wouldn't buy another book for the rest of 2009 :) So er...we'll hope I can stick to that.
Kandice wrote: "Allison is a spinless jelly fish. Fortunately she is a loveable spineless jellyfish!!!!!!"lol! I just like owning books :)
...except that now I don't anymore as I promised the hubby.
Only...8 more months ;)
Oh, Allison. I am pretty sure he does not expect that, since I don't and I am NOT married to you! Why not set a more attainable goal? How about 1 month with no purchases? I bet you oculd do that, because there would be an end in sight. You could buy a few books, and then try for two. Want me to call him and negotiate? LOL
LOL!!!!! I would die laughing for ages.Maybe when something comes up that I really need to buy I'll call on your negotiating abilities ;)
But I really am shooting for a year!! I have sooooo many unread books, I honestly think I can do it.
Well, I can certainly call for free from work, so make sure it' before May 31st. I bet I would like him, since I just love you!!!! I am a very, very good negotiator, so keep it in mind. XO
You would love my hubby, he is hilarious! We'll have to make up something so you can talk to him sometime ;)
BECKY, WOOT!!!!!! *gives cookie and hug*I've read three books so far in this week. Two of those bought a long time ago.
Becky wrote: "But Allison... You just GOT THREE NEW (to you) BOOKS!! "and I'm going to read yours first of course :)
Goodie! I know Emma!! I'm soooooooooo EXCITED to read TSFT! I can't wait, but I have to reread the other two first!
I know that I'm not a part of the main group that are talking, but I just had to say that I've failed miserably in not buying/borrowing any more books. I still have around 30 books that I own that have not been read and I just went out and bought 2 new paperbacks & borrowed 4 more from the library. Mostly for the quick read to keep in the bathroom or car. I usually have 3 books going at once and ran out of quick-reads. I'll start again next month...no new books until what I have has been read!

Becky wrote: "Goodie @ Allison for reading the books I sent her before any of her ill-gotten amazon purchases! ;)"ill-gotten humph! If I hadn't gotten those, someone else would have...and I'll take such better care of them and give them a good home and love them and sniff them and...
lol ;)
lol Fiona, I was hoping you wouldn't notice my purchase :) I thought you'd be madder.did you see what I got though!??!

Just so I can have the complete series! Between my husband's near-obsessive DVD buying and my book-buying we could go bankrupt! (not really)
As far as how few books I actually own that are on my tbr shelf, well, last year it was over 100. I've made a considerable dent! I'll be surprised when I DON'T have a tbr shelf filled!
Kandice wrote: "Everyone Poops is educational! You would have had to excuse that!!!!"I have the collector's edition, so why would I buy another copy?
Personally, I try to keep my collector's editions in pristine condition, so thought you might want one you could actually read!
I just keep it to read while I'm practicing what it preaches, if you know what I'm sayin ;) Makes me feel connected to the world...very nice.
okay I know that was disgusting...I vote we drop the poop book.the books I actually bought are much better :D
