Emma I know this is a bit odd but I imagined Kesha (the singer, Tick Toc etc) as Alaska. She may be too old, but it's just that tom-boy, trashy yet beautiful and alternative look she has.

Kaya Scodelario would also be perf :)

message 302: by Mikayla (new)

Mikayla this really frustrates me because the whole way through the book I envisaged Alaska as this messy blonde hair green eyed bombshell who was so messy but effortless at the same time and then all of a sudden BAM towards the end of the book it says her hair is mahogany... like wot? where in hell did mahogany come from? I literally just sat there for a good 5 minutes so confused and annoyed and frustrated because this also happened in "the fault in our stars" in the book I imagine hazel as having extremely thinning white blonde hair from her treatment and then in the movie trailer she has this boy mop and I was (and still am) so disappointed and I know that her hair is gonna annoy me throughout the whole movie and just ugh... struggles-.-

message 303: by Breanne (new) - added it

Breanne C Lily collins would make the perfect Alaska... :)
And logan Lerman would make a good Pudge. Maybe Josh hutcherson as the coloen.

That looks exactly the way imaged her!!! :D

message 305: by Amy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Amy The great thing about Alaska is that the author intentionally left her without a description of race or hair colour. She could look like anyone. I just love how she is meant to just look perfect to the main character who loves her; and he sees her through rose-coloured glasses. I imagined her to be thin and somewhat tall, with long, dark ringlets and dark skin with really pretty eyes. I don't know an actress who looks like that but yeah that's how I imagined her :)

message 306: by Lily (new)

Lily Cullen When I imagined Alaska Young I always saw a short, curvy, brunette. All the people mentioned I think look to innocent and couldn't pull off the whole drinking and smoking image. I think that Kaya Scodelario would be perfect. She fits the description perfectly and could pull off the whole smart, mysterious at times and rebellious sort of thing that Alaska has going. I think Alaska isn't the classic kind of beautiful where she's perfect I think she's beautiful in a non traditional way which I think Kaya is.

Miles- Logan Lerman would be perfect as he is attractive but not gorgeous you know
He also can be slightly awkward yet very smart which is very like Pudge

Colonel- I imagined Jack O'Connell as he looks like someone who would love pranks and mouthing off at people haha or maybe Jeremy Sumpter, Colton Haynes and Josh Hutcherson.

Lara- Barbara Palvin or Nina Dobrev

Jake- I imagine someone who is very attractive, muscular and generally nice so maybe someone like Zac Efron, Chace Crawford, Alex Pettyfer or Austin Butler

message 307: by Andrea (new) - rated it 3 stars

Andrea Tomé Don't know why, I pictured her as a mixture of figure skater Liza Tuktamysheva and model Barbara Palvin.

message 308: by Renae (new) - rated it 5 stars

Renae I definitely pictured Kaya Scodelario as Alaska. I think she'd be perfect but I fear if she were to ever get offered the role she might turn it down because she's already played Effy in Skins (and in my opinion, there are a few similarities between Effy and Alaska) but... hopefully!

message 309: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know why, but Kaya Scodelario.

message 310: by Hanna (new) - rated it 4 stars

Hanna Deeeeeeeeeefinitely Kaya Scodelario

message 311: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma Honestly I did not imagine Kaya for Alaska. I feel like people are only saying her name because she's the most obvious choice if we were to cast someone.

message 312: by Andrea (new) - rated it 3 stars

Andrea Tomé I agree with Emma. Kaya as Alaska would be an Effy Stonem 2.0

Brittany Jade When I read the book early last year, I pictured Alaska as Kristen Kruek. I didn't even think about it, my mind just chose a face for the character.

message 314: by Sara (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sara Yeah, I definitely agree with Emma and Andrea.

message 315: by KQC (new) - rated it 2 stars

KQC Karen wrote: "When I first read this book (a couple years ago) I was picturing Ellen Page as Alaska!"
YES YES!!

message 316: by Mark (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mark A. I imagined Alaska as just a stunningly beautiful young woman. I can't think of anyone to play the part, but I think a younger version of Megan fox would fit my image.

message 317: by Hassan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hassan actually, i can't imagine alaska as anyone she's just alaska

message 318: by Xu (new) - added it

Xu Carrie wrote: "Emma Stone all the way."

I think Emma has already been known for a particular personality and the way she speaks (with her cute little mouth movement) I can't imagine her to be Alaska.

message 319: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know who exactly, but someone with short, wavy and mahogany coloured hair, brown eyes and freckles. I have no idea who it would be though...

Akherousia You guys do realize that Alaska is depicted as a borderline obese, short, dark-haired girl with likely mexican blood, right? Why you breaking out the skinny blonde girls -_-.

message 321: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma It says she's obese? That's like mega fat. Unhealthy.

message 322: by Cherie (new) - rated it 3 stars

Cherie Yeeeeeah, no... I'd like to see the quote that describes Alaska as fat, let alone "borderline obese". Do you even know what obesity is? It's defined as being "grossly fat" and very unhealthy.

message 323: by Cherie (new) - rated it 3 stars

Cherie In the book she was described as petite and curvy. Curvy does not mean fat and it sure as hell doesn't mean obese. >_>

message 324: by Julie (new)

Julie I pictured annasophia robb (the chick from bridge to terrabithia) ANYONE???

message 325: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma No... She's too sweet and friendly

Belle ~carry on my wayward son~ is there a thread like this for pudge?... cuz if there isn't someone should make one.

message 327: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma No... She's too sweet and friendly

message 328: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma I don't even know why that did that

Belle ~carry on my wayward son~ no, sorry but i agree with emma on that one

message 330: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma But for pudge, I imagined him the same as all of John green main characters. Skinny and boring :/ (although I do love pudge)

Belle ~carry on my wayward son~ yeah, same. i imagine all of his main male characters (aside from agustus) the same. idk. something like this but not exactly.

what about you?

message 332: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma Yeah sorta like that, but with short cropped hair, and a little darker. But yeah

message 334: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma Although, I loved his Will Grayson. I actually imagined him as really attractive :) I probably loved that book as much as TFIOS, but I loved this book more :D

Allison Smith I imagined her as a skinny almost anorexic girl with layered brunette hair that was very thin. I also could see her with a single nose piercing stud. No actress could really fulfill her role if this were a movie, but she sounds lovely, doesn't she?

message 336: by Claire (new)

Claire Well I have no idea. Perhaps an actress who really can go in depth with that character. It's quite a challenge to be the moody, perhaps suicidal, Alaska Young. However she needs to have that personality. The outside looks would be casual modern girl clothing and wow. I don't imagine characters looks... SOS!!!

message 337: by Regina (new) - rated it 5 stars

Regina All i could picture was Effy from Skins

message 338: by Claire (new)

Claire Umm...

message 339: by [deleted user] (new)

Emma Stone would perfectly match Alaska.

message 340: by Alexa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Alexa Bondi Kaya Scodelario, no doubt!

message 341: by Sirine (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sirine Hj I couldn't picture her as any cilebrity, I just had her face in my head like this tall curvy girl with green eyes and perfect hair, always grinning.

Belle ~carry on my wayward son~ Sirine wrote: "I couldn't picture her as any cilebrity, I just had her face in my head like this tall curvy girl with green eyes and perfect hair, always grinning."

same

message 343: by Mark (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mark A. I hold to the notion that she has to be visually stunning. The kind of beauty that intimidates men. Only, she has a brain to go with the looks.

message 344: by Lucía (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lucía The girl from the movie "Submarine".

message 345: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Alaska: Kaya Scodelario or Taissa Farmiga
Pudge: Miles Teller
The Colonel: Josh Hutcherson

message 346: by Lucia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lucia Isn't she blonde? I imagined her with straight blonde long hair, slim. I could see Diana Argon but I would lie to see someone less perfect a little but more tomboyish

Charina Yes Taissa Farmiga is a good choice

message 348: by Lucia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lucia Eml wrote: "She's not blonde, she has mahogany colored hair."

wiw I didn't catch that at all!!

message 349: by Lucia (new) - rated it 5 stars
