Who did you imagine as Alaska Young?
When I first read this book (a couple years ago) I was picturing Ellen Page as Alaska!
I was thinking of this just as I finished the book. I imagined Alaska with straight stringy and thin black hair. I imagine all my characters without faces partially because I think my mind is too lazy to get them one and because I don't think it would be fair to give them a face without exactly knowing how they look (up to cheek bones and everything). I thought she'd have a long, pale, face.
Anyway! As I thought who would be a good person to play her, I thought of Kristen Stewart and how horrible that would be, but then thought of her co-star from the Runaways: Dakota Fanning. I don't think anyone would live up to the Alaska in the book, but Dakota wouldn't be half bad.

Perhaps random, and because the idea was already in my head before I even read the book, but some people have dreamcasted Kaya Scodelario as Alaska and I couldn't get the image out while reading it.
i saw her as lily collins, but i can definitely see where alexis is coming from with the kaya casting!

My best friend in high school is who I pictured as Alaska. She is actually an actress (community theatre) and would be perfect for the part.

All I know is that I picture her, for some reason, as half asian and half white. I know the book never described her that way, but..
I have a hard time putting a face to Alaska Young. That is why it frightened me to find out that Green had sold the movie rights for it. She is so fascinating and eccentric that I don't think anyone could do her justice. My image of her definitely has black hair, but past that I just can't seem to place her.
I can only see her as Eva Green - if Eva Green was younger - thats exactly how I imagined her!

I definitely saw Kaya in the role. Although, I would love to play her.
Alaska seemed to be a bombshell, a really hot/pretty girl... I've always pictured her somehow similar to Amber Heard (The Ward, All the boys love Mandy Lane, Pineapple Express, The Rum Diary) :
i imagined Alaska as a pretty slightly proacitive, blonde, thin and caucasion.
I imagined Blake Lively! For whatever reason, I always pictured Alaska as blond.

I imagined Imogen Poots as Alaska. I think she'll be perfect.
Blake Lively and Diana Agron both fits Alaska's description perfectly. And Lucy Hale, though not as pretty as the first two, but I imagined she'd be great anyway.

I think I agree with Amber Heard as the best role Alaska.
I kind of got a Lana Del Rey vibe from Alaska. Not saying I would want Lana to play her, but... someone like that.
Personally, I dislike Blake Lively. I dunno what it is, a mixture of the duck lips she always makes, and her voice. I just do not like her as Alaska.But I also agree with Mandi, I couldn't put a face to Alaska.

I pictured someone like Winona Ryder
In the book, Alaska has described to have glistening green eyes and dark mahogany locks of hair. The whole book, all I could picture was Karen Gillian with dark hair.
I also always imagined Alaska as blonde. Amber Heard seems like a good choice. I'd really like to see them cast someone who looks like they could actually be in highschool/prep school. Not Dakota but Elle Fanning (or Elke?) Dakota's little sister comes to mind.

She's not blonde, she has mahogany colored hair.
For some reason I did not catch the color of her hair until much much later in the book so the entire first part I was imagining her as Kate Hudson in Almost Famous

Just curious, for those of you who is reading/has read the book. I was imagining Diana Aggron as AY.
Plus, who'd you like to be cast as Alaska? (If it's different from who you were imagining it) Since there are talks of possibly making a film for Looking for Alaska.
