Who did you imagine as Alaska Young?
Leven isn't a bad choice.
Emma Watson.. I've also pictured Margo Roth Spiegelman (girl protagonist of Paper Towns also by John Green) as Emma.
Kat Dennings. Obviously without all the make-up she wears on Two Broke Girls. A more subtle look, and I think she'd be spot on as Alaska.

I dunno. But while I was reading the book, I imagined Alaska Young as Mila Kunis. Kinda weird right?
I'd really like an unknown actress but after watching 'It's Kind Of A Funny Story' I've had Emma Roberts stuck in my head for her. I think Willa Holland or Lily Collins would be great, too.Edit: I just saw people suggest Leven Rambin, yes, I can see that! And she actually has brown hair at the minute for the new Percy Jackson movie, anyway.

Though, alaska is one of my fave characters, I could not imagine someone who can take her. Maybe Kat Dennings? curvaceous, mahogany hair, pouty lips, mean enough like a hurricane but sweet enough to have a bf.
I have the same answer with the first one to answer (second post) -- Ellen Page first came to my mind!
Before now, I never really confronted the idea in my head, but I'm pretty sure I was picturing Amber Heard. But now that I think about it, Taylor Momsen would be good as well.
I pictured her as Elisha Cuthbert as well!

It's good to see I'm not the only one who pictured her as Kaya. I even did a book assignment for school on Looking for Alaska where we had to make a passport of one of the main characters. I just couldn't get it out of my mind.

Amber Heard circa the short-lived CW show Hidden Palms. She was totally my Alaska, both inspite of the physical similarities as well as the personality of Alaska and her character Lilah.
I could imagine Blake Lively as Alaska Young, or maybe Jennifer Lawrence.

I'm a Kaya Scodelario fan and could definitely see her playing the wild and free-spirited Alaska Young.
I imagined her with pink and short hair (why pink?, I don't know)like quinn (dianna agron) in her rebel time on glee.
I don't know why but while reading the book I pictured colton Haynes as the colonel. As for Alaska I just can't seem to picture the perfect person for her. I just want someone who plays her to respect and appreciate the character as much as we do. and please let no Kristen Stewart or selena Gomez lol.
Everyone here keeps picturing some actress that's tall and a lot older than the part of alaska. way too perfect looking. definitely not blake lively. alaska is described as short, cute, curvy, with fierce emerald green eyes. i could maybe see kaya playing that part but kaya seems to always play parts that are entirely sinister. alaska is not always sinister. she is usually quirky and full of energy and a great wit. honestly, i think an actress that's a little more unknown and not conventionally 'hot' but still gorgeous would be much better.
but the more i think about it, i do think kaya scodelario could play her well. she's very talented and enigmatic. i did imagine someone really beautiful but more on the adorable side than the conventional bombshell.

Alaska Young is a goddess. She would have to come off eccentric, dangerous, impulsive and loveable. The kind of girl you can't help but love.

I imagined Alaska as having long, blonde hair that was stringy and not cut in any particular way, and I think that JUNO TEMPLE would be pretty awesome. Look her up and tell me what you think? :)
I didn't really picture anyone in particular for the role but tried to imagine a figure that fit the description.

I always imagined Blake Lively as Alaska, the book that I had had a blonde girl on it and so I assumed she was blonde. It was later into the book that I realized it was mahogany ,but couldn't stop picturing Blake.
I just recently finished reading the book and to be honest I was actually picturing Teresa Palmer as Alaska Young and if they ever made a movie, she would be the perfect actress...just saying.

Idk why, but I imagined Mila Kunis as AY! Maybe because she's my favourite actress ever. But she seem a little to old to play a 16 year old.
