and am about half way through and it's just okay. Part are hard to follow and seem choppy.
Phew. I was starting to think there was something wrong with me for only thinking it was okay. It's as if everyone on the planet adores the book and I'm missing out by not getting it!

No worries. Many of us don't read romance books 100% of the time. Hunger Games is a good series.

. You know how in Psycop the series is character heavy, really well done first person point of view, interesting and carefully developed side characters? It is the same in this book so far. And the same with Psycop, the urban fantasy element is very unique and meshed perfectly with modern world. It is set in Madison, WI (near where JCP lives now). So far nothing exciting or page turning is happening in the book, but it is so good and so enjoyable, I love it.I am also listening to
. I like it, but the main drawback is the character is supposed to be 9, however she acts more like a 14 year old. I hate when authors/movie makers use young characters to pull at our hearts but then make them mini very sage adults. I may end up putting
aside. I enjoyed the first nine hours of audio, but I have absolutely no desire to return to it. Funny, Ilona Andrews stopped at the same point I did. I also made a mistake and read the author's blog. I have no problems if I don't like an author or disagree with an author's politics, but he has some out there rants on his blog (like comparing the modern democrat platform to the german nazi wwII platform and hating on anyone who disagrees with him) and I thought it wasn't a big deal, but now everytime I listen to the book I hear the author and I can't separate it. There are many instances where I don't agree with an author's politics but love their work. Or I don't agree with what an author blogs about and still love their work. Most immediate example is the author of Wool -- I LOVE his books (which have just been picked up by 20th century for a movie!) but disagree with his politics -- but who cares really? It is all subjective opinion, you know? So I guess my point is, I am finding it weird that I just see the author of Monster Hunter as this raving guy and can't separate it. Maybe I just need more time away from the book. However, I feel bad b/c a GR friend recommended it to me. I am okay with having bought it, b/c it was on an audible sale for only 4.95, I knew there was a chance I wouldn't like it.A side note, I feel even worse I think when I really like an author as a person/blogger/goodreads friend and end up not liking their book!

Given my style of reviewing (where I don't pull my punches), I don't like to feel that I'm being untrue to my review because I'm careful of the author's feelings.
And I seldom read author's blogs for the same reason (except Patrick Rothfuss who is really funny) or learn too much about their personal life. If there's something I don't like about them, it may interfere with my reading, like it happened with Anne Perry. Once I learned she was a convicted murderer (and what a murder that was) now I don't feel like reading her books even though I've enjoyed them in the past.

Yeah, I can see why it would effect your impression of her writing.DG that is a good policy on all fronts. I should have not looked at his blog. I have no idea why I did. It was dumb. I think maybe b/c aside from Orson Scott Card, I have never had a bad feeling about an author after reading their blog -- I wasn't prepared for this.

Disturbing is right. Both of them should have been coming out of jail and/or mental institution right about now. No, I haven't seen the movie and probably I won't if I want to continue reading the series.
BTW...the series I like by her reminds me of Tana French books (LOTs of fucked up situations). That's why I think I know what's happening in Faithful Place because it reminded me of a couple of books in the William Monk series.

Regina, it does stink that life interfered with my enjoyment. It really wasn't the book at all. I loved the ending and the blogs and Shaun and George. It was great. It was just so sporadic that there was no real time to let the words build my emotion back up. I think that's b/c I read the ebooks for the first 3 books and I'm familiar to the world. I've yet to really like like the voices to any of the narrators I've read so far (granted I've only listened to about 4). So, I'm unsure to even give a good opinion on if the audio is good or not. I guess at this point we have to laugh at the cover changes because they don't seem in a rush to fix it. :(The book sounds good. Too bad it's not a freebie anymore!

My notifications have just started up again. Im in around 30 groups and was getting nothing since April 12th! Very annoying!
I check my groups so often that I don't have those notifications enabled but I seem to be getting all the other ones.
For days it wasn't the group or response notifications, it was the "like" notifications that weren't coming through -- both on statuses and on reviews. It was fixed on Friday.

and it was okay! Hunter and Lacey were hot. Some of the themes of the book seemed over emphasized. Lacey's money and Hunters feeling that he was lacking. Wendy, you up for another Troubleshooter book soon?

I've finished reading Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell last night and I absolutely loved it! Today I've started A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Right! I had a bit of a hard time with that right after the book. I told my friend I needed something light so I was reading Insurgent. She asked what it was about and I was saying 'This war, and factions, and people being killed, and blah blah blah' and she was like, I thought you needed something light. I was like, you have NO IDEA how dark Soldiers was!
