Leea NO clue... the cover issues has been messed up for so long now, over a month. It's always comical to see what shows up. lol!

Mmm Ice Cream. We're off to swim practice, might take the boys for frozen yogurt after :)

Our local baskin robins does $1 scoop nights. Those are fun!

message 2302: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jun 07, 2012 02:21PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh I forgot about $1 scoops! Thanks for the reminder Leea.

That was a long conversation I missed. Love those pics Leea. We have a minor league park similar to yours (Sky Sox) only a mile or so away (it's at the edge of our neighborhood). We can actually see the fireworks every Friday night from our front yard. I think in all of the years we've lived here though we've only gone to 2 games and the tickets are pretty cheap. My older one was just never all that interested. Maybe we'll have fun taking Silas this year. They have a playground area for the kids if he gets bored.

I'm only on for a few more minutes because I gotta go get Silas ready for the circus in a little bit. His auntie is coming by to take him. I almost wish I was going even though I feel guilty about the circus in general, even if it's so much fun. Some of the animals are not treated great...

Anyway, finished The First Days (As The World Dies A Zombie Trilogy #1) by Rhiannon Frater and thanks for the rec Regina. It was a fun book, so much like Walking Dead! I couldn't resist doing another choose your own adventure because the book needs some attention. I can't believe no one else has told me about it. Thanks for putting the idea in my head. :)

Starting The Vincent Boys (The Vincent Boys, #1) by Abbi Glines

message 2303: by Leea (new)

Leea Have fun At the circus Silas!! I'm watching my boys take swim lessons. In just 4 days they have improved so much.

Vincent boys, another book I want to read. Can't wait for your review.

Walking dead? I'll have to look into that book. Lol!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Seriously. It's so much like being inside of an episode. I loved it.

message 2305: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Except in frater's books they are smarter and buil walls. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I noticed that!

Are books 2 and 3 as good?

message 2307: by Regina (last edited Jun 07, 2012 03:08PM) (new)

Regina (reginar) Yes definitely. Her other books are great too. Pretty When She Dies (Pretty When She Dies, #1) by Rhiannon Frater was a 5 star book for me.

She also has 2 or 3 anthologies of shorts about the as the world dies series.

She has a new series coming out in 9 days, I have an arc for it, haven't read it yet but it looks amazing. The Last Bastion of the Living A Futuristic Zombie Novel by Rhiannon Frater

I have heard great things about this series The Tale Of The Vampire Bride (Vampire Bride, #1) by Rhiannon Frater

Her vamp books are more horror than UF.

Holly Bush | 8 comments Dark Angel/Lord Carew's Bride (Dark Angel #1, #2) by Mary Balogh

Just started it and am alwasy excited to read a new Balogh. New for me anyway.

message 2309: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) So jealous of all of you in warm climes. It's still freezing and pouring rain in my neck of the woods. Plus I'm in computer hell and feel like I'll never get to read another book again. grumble grumble.... I remain optimistic though (plus getting mother-in-law's yummy Italian food tonight.) Thank you for letting me rant. I enjoy the connections here. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It's warm right now where we're at Tellulah but it has been going from warm to cold and rainy...back and forth for the past week or so.

I have yet to try her. Got a copy of this one recently but haven't had a chance to read it yet.

The Proposal

message 2311: by Leea (new)

Leea I read Wrapped Around Your Finger by Fallon Blake tonight and it was really good. I just needed a little break from The Storyteller by Antonia Michaelis . Which is really good.

I should read Wrapped Around Your Finger. I know the author from another site (before she even published anything) and I haven't read any of her stuff!

message 2313: by D.G. (new)

D.G. So last night I went to a Happy Hour with people from work and 3 guys and I stayed up late and then had dinner at a Cajun/Creole restaurant close by. Man, we really drank a lot but the food was really good!

If I were to describe the group, it would sound like the beginning of a joke: "a Brazilian, a gay man and an accountant go to a bar..."

Sounds like you had a great night! I haven't had a relaxed evening like that in ages. Although, I seriously don't think I could do that and still function the next day. One glass of wine has been my limit lately and two gives me a huge headache.

I haven't read the Proposal yet, but I don't think that is one of her best ones. If you want to try something good, try the Slightly series. The first book is great Slightly Married (Bedwyn Saga, #1) by Mary Balogh and the last book is hilarious Slightly Dangerous (Bedwyn Saga, #6) by Mary Balogh . The ones inbetween are good, just not fabulous. Also, one that sticks with me is The Secret Pearl by Mary Balogh . Dark with an atypical romance since the hero is married. Balogh does angst so good.

message 2316: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I drank WAY more than I should have: 5 pints of Bud Light (I was trying to be "good," LOL!) and 2 Coronitas.

I'm not very hangover though because I drank lots of water when I got home.

Wahooo! D.G. sounds like a blast! I love going out with my friends and just having a good time.

Yep, I would not be functioning, no matter how much water I drank. I think I'm missing the gene that allows me to process alcoholic beverages. One wine and I'm totally tipsy! My husband jokes I'm a cheap drunk. Two drinks and I'd be under the table or on top dancing. Not a pretty sight. Especially for co-workers!

message 2319: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Hahah DG I love that joke beginning. :) Sounds so fun. Drinking lots of water is a sure fire way to feel good in the morning. I rarely go out to drink with friends but when I do, I always over stay and I never worry about calories in drinks! They just magically disappear. :)

LOL, I know! And the conversation was WAY unPC (according to my Brazilian coworker, who is the most inappropriate person I've met in my life, there are two married coworkers in the closet and we were trying to figure out who they were.) There were also discussions regarding anal, drugs and how she-males are one of Brazil's exports (!!) The poor Accountant (who is the youngest of us all) didn't know where to put his face (although he was trying to put up a good front.)

message 2321: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I wish I could come to NYC and hang out with you all, sounds like so much fun!

message 2322: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) I'm finishing Thunder Heights by Phyllis A. Whitney and will start The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald next.

message 2323: by Renee (new)

Renee (reneebuerkle) Hello all, I am actually new to this group! I am currently reading Hungry for You (Argeneau, #14) by Lynsay Sands which I believe is the 14th book in the series. I look forward to chatting with you all. :)

message 2324: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Welcome, Renee!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Kelly wrote: "I haven't read the Proposal yet, but I don't think that is one of her best ones..."

Unfortunately, that's the only one I have of hers. I don't have a book budget atm and my ability to get out on my own during the week to the library is limited. If it's not that good, I'll keep it in mind to try something else of hers later.

Welcome to the group Renee. :)

Julie, did you know that they're making another Great Gatsby movie? It's going to be out soon. I think Leo DiCaprio is in it.

message 2326: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) I saw something about it on the internet the other day. Yes, it does have Leo in it. That's what made me think about reading the book. I hope the movie will be good.

message 2327: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Christmas of this year! I cannot wait to see it.

message 2328: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) Cool!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I might try reading it before the movie. I keep thinking that I might have read it during my high school years but really don't remember.

I'm definitely reading The Hobbit before we see the movie. The book is a lot shorter than I thought it would be but I think it's geared toward a younger audience than LoTR, which might be a good thing because it will probably be an easy read then.

I hope to start adding more to my genre lineup over the next few months. Maybe some mainstream literary fiction, non-fiction or true crime. Btw...if you guys want another person for In Cold Blood let me know. I'd be up for giving it a shot.

message 2330: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) I think I read Gatsby in HS. Too. But that's been awhile. LOL. The Hobbit is really good.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Nice. :) My husband liked that one as a kid. I asked if he was going to re-read it before the movie and he looked at me as if I was crazy.

message 2332: by D.G. (new)

D.G. You're welcome to join us, Stacia!

I'm definitely not feeling Catch-22 so I'm switching to another audio for now.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) When are you going to read it?

message 2334: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) I've read the book a few times, looking forward to The Hobbit movie.

message 2335: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) DG I tried Catch 22 once a year ago and wasn't into it either. I think questioning of war and violence may have been more daring when he wrote the story.

I love the Hobbit Julie and absolutely cannot wait for the movie!! I am reading the Hobbit to my 8 year old as soon as I get done reading Harry Potter 2 to him.

message 2336: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) It's a good book for all ages

message 2337: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Stacia, you are definiltey welcome to read with us - maybe in about 10 days?

message 2338: by Leea (new)

Leea Welcome to the group, Renee!

I took the kids the the Western Railroad Museum. We road trains for half the day and they had a blast. Now i'm just tired, haha!

I'm still reading The Storyteller by Antonia Michaelis and it's beautiful

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Regina wrote: "Stacia, you are definiltey welcome to read with us - maybe in about 10 days?"

That sounds perfect. I have next week pretty full up. Just let me know.

Leea, do you mean the one in oldtown sac? I love that area.

message 2340: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Noah (5th Street, #1) by Elizabeth Reyes earlier today and I really liked it. I'll be reading more from this author soon.

We're driving back to SF tonight and my son's tball closing day ceremony is tomorrow morning. I'll probably start a book tomorrow afternoon. I'm just not sure which book yet.

I read a little bit of this book and wasn't sure I should buy it. But maybe I'll go ahead now that you and a couple others here have really liked it.

Ugh, needed to edit this since GR is having glitches with the books.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. I don't want to give it up because the narrator is awesome (Jay O. Sanders...the guys that does 'Nova' for PBS) but I'm definitely not into it. Some of the jokes are funny and all that but it's too weird and it's 20 freaking hours long!

message 2343: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) Yesterday, I finished reading Seven Up by Janet Evanovich and today I've started The Client by John Grisham.

I loved that series too! It gets old later on, but you are at the fun part! Enjoy!

message 2348: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I started A Bad Day for Mercy A Crime Novel by Sophie Littlefield Reading Classes On Culture and Classism in America by Barbara Jensen and I am still listening to Dawn on a Distant Shore (Wilderness, #2) by Sara Donati

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished The Vincent Boys (The Vincent Boys, #1) by Abbi Glines and it was a cute and short read but there were a few character hiccups I wasn't fond of.

Didn't really have time to read today but I got a few pages into Wool by Hugh Howey

message 2350: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Just finished Unveiled (Turner, #1) by Courtney Milan . It was ok. Unpredictable but boring at the same time. I didn't feel anything!

Now I'm going to start Kindling the Moon (Arcadia Bell, #1) by Jenn Bennett .

I feel like I'm getting tired of historical romances at the moment. Time for some change!
