Terri | 19576 comments I have an old record of Christmas favourites. I used to play it every Christmas, but our retro record player broke down and the parts aren't around the fix it so we had to throw it away.

I was only looking at that record again two days ago. I hear players are pretty common and cheap these days, so maybe next year I can afford one and be playing my Christmas record by next Chrissy. :)

I counted our Christmas music and counting double CDs as 2, we have 64 CDs of Christmas music - no wonder Mrs Happy says enough is enough :)

The majority of the Christmas is up - still tinkering with the tree and some of the outside stuff - we misplaced a whole box of outside decorations and haven't found it yet.

That said, we will get at least one more this year

Happy,
The Belgian was a rescue horse we got around 6 months ago that had cancer in the right rear hoof and we were medicating daily thinking we were doing well but our vet did x-rays and found there to be no more foot so she was walking with terrible pain.
The mini coliced on us and passed the next morning....very unexpected.

Terri | 19576 comments Thanks everyone. :-)
Looking forward to Christmas and spending a few days around family. ...and eating all that food!
With Mum on the mend at the moment, it is over to me and my hubby to cook everything. Christmas Eve family dinner and the Christmas Day traditional lunch. Hope we don't over cook the turkey! Mum always cooks the turkey perfectly.

happy (happyone) | 2782 comments My siblings and my father and his wife have a big family dinner on the 23rd - I'm doing Prime Rib, my Dad a couple of hams along with the trimmings - we are planning for 50 people this year. Mrs Happy and I have our family on the 24th again with a big dinner - Ham and a special Scalloped Potatoes recipe.. We don't have a Christmas dinner per se - just grazing all the left overs :)

If I don't make it back here before the Big Day - Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Joyous New Year to all!

message 14928: by happy (last edited Dec 23, 2017 10:58AM) (new)

happy (happyone) | 2782 comments Carol,
Congratulations on the impending addition to your family!

It looks like we just might have a white Christmas after all. As of Tuesday the forecast was for bitter cold (22 for a high and 6 for a low) and no snow leading up to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The weather people got it wrong. It currently snowing and the temps are in the mid 30s. It is "supposed" to continue through tomorrow. If it cools down a couple of degrees the white stuff just might stick around :)

The ski resorts are thrilled. It has been a very dry December and they barely have enough snow to ski on. I personally don't ski, but some friends went up last week and said they are still dodging rocks.

The Christmas candy making is finished and plated. Now I have to get them delivered to the neighbors :) I made 8 batches of caramels this year.

Once again wishing all here at A&M a Happy Christmas and a Joyous New Year!!

Terri | 19576 comments I see that this year the Reading Challenge of years past is not showing in a list on my Profile or Home Page.

Only my 2018 Challenge is showing.

It was getting a bit of a long list, but I kind of miss it seeing as I have been doing the challenge since the beginning, I often liked to glance at it to check on how many books I have read each year.

message 14939: by Simona (new)

Simona | 1453 comments Happy new year everybody...last one was tough, so I really cross my fingers.
I don't understand how GR calculates how many books you read in a year.
I received a message that in 2017 I read 4 books...not important, anyway.

message 14940: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) | 19 comments Simona, happy New Year to you too !

When you rate a book you've read, go into "review" the book and add the date started and date finished for each book.

Goodreads will pick up each "date finished" in 2017 and report on that.....

message 14941: by Simona (new)

Simona | 1453 comments Oh! Thank you Ace, I understand now. I never do that 😁

message 14943: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (last edited Jan 03, 2018 01:18PM) (new)

Terri | 19576 comments I remember many years back when I added all the old books I had in my bookcases. Thats when I learned to put in the 'read' date. As most of those books were read in the 90s. It was kind of a bit of fun to catalogue all my books from long before I joined GR.

I've often wanted to buy one of those cool book cataloguing programs, but in the end I feel I don't have time to do it. Keeping everything on GR is enough.

message 14944: by Simona (new)

Simona | 1453 comments For me, it doesn't matter. What matters is that I did read them and I liked it. 😉

Excel spreadsheet works fine enough for me, kinda of a back-up in case GR falls over :)

message 14948: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Gerk. Spreadsheets. I hate doing spreadsheets.

At least GR has that function where you can download your entire GR bookshelves into a spreadsheet for your personal records.
