Three stars is the 'go either way rating'. When I see 3 stars I think of it as negative, so look for a review to see the reader clarify. I won't always look at that with 4 or 5.
I don't like reading books that are just okay.
I want to read books I enjoy. Which are 4 and 5 stars.

I got the same thing. Is that the only category they have? That's not me, either. And I never heard of much of the pop culture stuff.
I got Victorian the first time and the 1950s the second time.
May, I have exactly the same rating system as you do.I've had this discussion with a few groups and there are lots of differences. From those who don't rate books they don't finish to those who almost never give 5 stars, both of which can change the meaning of the other stars.
I don't need half stars and even when I'm somewhere that has them I don't like to use them, but I could use a 6 star system, so I had an 'out of this world' star to give. Though I have solved that by having a favourites shelf.

If you ever are near there - SEE IT!!!!! I saw in '08 while visiting my brother who was working for the US Govt in Britain at the time. He and I went to Normandy for a weekend and that was one of the must stops for me. In many ways it looks like they sewed it yesterday. The colors are that vivid.Unfortunately we didn't have the time for Battle Abbey or Canterbury.
Yes it is spectacular, we got to visit it as a kid when overseas school trips consisted of a trip to Cherbourg (Normandy) to take in the Normandy landings memorial as well as a trip to Bayeux & Caen

You could catch a ferry from Portsmouth and make a day trip out of it. Why move the whole piece across? Very strange decision in my opinion. And the expense? I assume France would have negotiated a fair cut of the earnings but I thought that the British museum was free? Unless they put up a special exhibit.
£45M for the camp at Calais by some reports is the fee.......

It would be a special exhibit. Those usually cost about 20 pounds entry.
When I saw in Bayeux it was 7.50 euros - some of the things that stick in my mind amaze me :)

I saw in the news a couple days ago that Cape Town (South Africa) is about to run out of water. They had 75 days of water left.
So it appears the moisture just isn't in the atmosphere anymore.

Meanwhile, the streets in Paris are flooded. The footage on the news shows people wading knee deep in water. They've had to close sections of the Louvre and move the art to higher levels.

Have they got you guys on low level restrictions at all? Or are authorities just saying be careful with water use?
I read last night that Cape Town authorities are asking tourists to try not to flush the toilet, at their accommodation, every time they go. And to maybe bath sometimes in the sea.

Corruption is endemic over there.

This month it has rained a couple days, which will help, but the real problems will come in the summer (in my village, for example, we relied on a spring for water, but with little rain it has almost dried up by now so we won't have any water this summer, and there is no piping to bring water so...).

Any thoughts on the TV show Britannia? Haven't quite made my mind up after two episodes because it looks gorgeous and the plot has started to develop in a couple of interesting ways...BUT...there are some things that really annoy me. A couple of ridiculous incidents that would never have happened in a million years, bad characters, but worst of all - the use of dialogue and humour that is painfully modern. It sometimes feels as though Ricky Gervais wrote it.Thoughts?

Our January thaw has been ridiculous-we have been having early March temps (mid to high 50s) What snow we have is beginning to come down.

Absolutely beautiful (and rare!) weekend for January in Michigan, with temps in the 50s. Today? Practically a blizzard. Snow and wind all day.
Better get on that lounge and watch some Netflix girl. :)
