We've killed three snakes in four days around the house.
One was in the house. A baby Brown Snake in the house two days ago. It came in under the door. We got a new door recently and it's a bit shorter than old door. We have to do a bit of carpentry to bring the stoop up higher. Its a job I've been hounding my hubby to do for months "gotta get it done by snake seaon" I kept telling him through Winter.
My husband is as bad as you, Robert, with snakes. So after the snake got in on the weekend within an hour he was fixing the stoop so no more snakes can get in under front door.
Won't listen to me, but if a snake gets in....suddenly he wants to fix things.

All snakes are protected....but stuff that when they are in my house or at my front door and are one of the world's most venomous snakes.
Beyond the immediate house area they are safe. :-) We let them move on.

Of course, I'm a tree-hugging greeny.

lol. Well, I'm no greenie, I'm a naturalist and an environmentalist. But I value my life and will not be catching brown snakes. :)
We have taken the tiny baby browns elsewhere. But once they get to a certain size, it is too dangerous.
Too far from a hospital here to do that!
Browns are not in danger on our farm, they are abundant. We're doing the local population a solid by reducing population pressure! :D

Ah, Centipedes. Now those ones we get inside the house from time to time. We don't know how they get in. But they have a nasty bite and, on average, are over 25 centimeters and quite scary looking. They don't move fast like snakes, so they are easy to scoop up and get rid of.

On the storm front - our storm was 36 hrs late - it arrived late Saturday and lasted well into Sunday, but it was a big one. Some places in the valley got as much as 15 inches (about 35 cm or so) of snow - I got about 6 (10cm or so). The nice thing about "spring" storms is the snow melts fast - when I left for work this afternoon the snow on the yard was less than 3 in

Except at Festivals where there are people who take fecking snakes and baby crocodiles and you can pay to pat the buggers. Not bloody likely. Got a carpet snake shoved in my face on Sunday by it's handler. Who got told to go forth and multiply in basic Anglo-Saxon.

Oh nooooo. He was one of the good guys. This is a dark, dark day :( :( :(

I read that they worked really hard to find ways for him to continue to do both as he deteriorated farther in the last 10 years.
And whether he liked it or not, his visibility gave those inventions wings. Especially the one that let him talk.

Nice thing about snow this time of year is that it doesn't last - it's already melted :)

Sounds beautiful happy :)

I work for a legal education institution and occasionally my job obliges me to give bad news to students (I get all the hard cases). So, the other day, a student was so incensed by my letter that didn't give him what he thought he deserved, he complained to the state Attorney General (copying in also the CEO and principal).
That was bad enough, but for some reason he saw fit to cyberstalk me and copied my GR author profile into his complaint - asking why an author had been given authority over his legal work. My favourite line in the complaint was to the effect that I "had only found against his claim because I was so accustomed to dealing with fantasy".
Priceless. There are times when dealing with dickheads that I feel ethically bound to warn people that I am a novelist and they are giving me A grade material.

One of the many positive contributions wasn't it. That he advanced technologies to make his life better and as a result other people with disease or disability can have extra communication and mobility

He's now demanding the board resign.
Good luck with that...

I wouldn't mention it again, but I feel as group founder/head mod, I need to tell the members when I am going to be around less.
My patchy visitations should only go on for another month or so. Then I'll be back around every other day again. :)

It has always been nice to know that I (and our other members) can come here for a pep talk or a lift. :)
So many lovely souls in this group.

Haha! Not so sure it is romance anymore. I think I may have saved it. :-)
Submissions sent out to Agents this week, so I can start sitting back and relaxing now.
Congrats on getting that good review, Adrian.

Good luck, Terri. What I read was superb. Any agent who turns it down isn't right in the bloody head.

We're less scared of sharks too, since the crocs ate 'em all.
