message 9958: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) We dropped from the 80's last week & had our first frost this morning, so that sounded like a good idea, Margaret. Luckily, it's supposed to warm up again this week. My Margaret is on fall break, so should have nice weather. I'm going to take a day or two off as well.

I love you all so much! I think I'll be out of the hospital tomorrow. I can't even begin to express in words how much all of your thoughts, words, emails, and messages have meant to me. In times like these, it helps so much to know that there are people out there who truly care. I have true friends here, and I appreciate it so much. Simona, you are a godsend! Love you.

Alicja, my thoughts are with you my friend.

Checking out for now, but I'll be back.

Linda (ladylawyer8650) | 1702 comments @Margaret, if laughter is the best medicine, then you are a healer. You make me laugh out loud!
@Alicja, I am sorry for your loss.
@Derek, I read your sister's poignant comments last night. Everybody needs a sister. Hope you have a gentle day.
@The weather report! The 'Downunders' are moving into spring. In Dixie we have not had any fall weather. Lows are 60, still 80 to 85 in daytime.
@Football--my teams won, but as Mother says, 'They won by the barest!' We must suppress our optimism!
Hedgehogs:-)

Linda (ladylawyer8650) | 1702 comments Goodmorning all. Derek, I hope you had a good night, and that today you get to play with your new tablet! My cell phone is a Samsung and does everything my tablet will do. Does that mean we are related?

Weather report! The low last night was 67. Right now it is 75 but feels like 95. The leaves are still green and the lawn is still growing. Not complaining. After missing 8 days of swimming, I got back to it yesterday. They had messed up the chemicals and had to shut it down for stabilization purposes and to avoid law suits I suspect. Since I swim in the on your last leg group, we were the last to connect burning eyes and noses, bleached out swimwear and discolored hair to that strong chlorine smell in the pool. Most of us are in line for cataract surgery, so we can't see. Few of us remember the real color of our hair assuming we have any hair left. We were hesitant to talk about the smell because--well, 'just because.' We were the last out and the first back. Age has its compensations.

message 9979: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 728 comments Honestly, where do these people come from. I have had three random people comment on a photo I tagged Derek in, who I don't know, aren't friends with, and they aren't even in my groups or any groups! Now I've got some random dude, once again, not a friend, doesn't belong to any groups, dropping in on my review of. War of The Roses, saying that Bernard Cornwell writes nothing more than fiction, and that it doesn't compare to Iggulden who writes Historical Fiction!!! What the????? Who are these people, how do they access my photos. I know it's not private, but how did they even know to go look at it?? Anyone?

message 9980: by Margaret, Sherlockian Sheila (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments They'll have a mutual friend, probably Lisa. And that person's like or comment or whatever will have shown up in their feed. I've come across interesting reviews that way. And made new friends. :)

message 9981: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 728 comments Really, is that all! I will have to try and wear him down then on BC, haha

message 9982: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) Social media is a funny thing. I took down a review and reported an author to Goodreads last month after the author started harassing me about a review I wrote. Apparently this author was very much in love with his/her work and my opinion of it was wrong. Can you block people from seeing your posts on this site? I've never had a problem with other people (outside the author) so I've never looked into it. I admin for a group on Facebook and I block people there all the time when they irritate me.

message 9983: by Margaret, Sherlockian Sheila (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments Yes you can. I blocked a guy a few months ago. Trying to remember how.

message 9984: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) To block a user:

1) Navigate to that user's profile page.

2) Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

3) Click "block this member".

I've done this too, for someone like Lisa got. Totally random rude comment on a review. So I deleted it and blocked him!

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments Bobby wrote: "Dammit...I NEVER get stalked. Gotta work on that fame thing a bit more!!"

Have been stalked. One in real life, twice on the net. It's not a hell of a lot of fun. I really feel sorry for actors who have loads of stalkers. :(

message 9990: by Bobby (new)

Bobby (bobbej) | 1375 comments I apologize for being flip about a potentially serious event. Surely a terrifying time for those who have experienced it. I think I'll pass on the "fame" thing!

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments Bobby wrote: "I apologize for being flip about a potentially serious event. Surely a terrifying time for those who have experienced it. I think I'll pass on the "fame" thing!"

Not complaining, Bobby. No apology necessary. :)

Fame isn't a prerequisite of being stalked though. All it takes is one nutter with target fixation. Though, interestingly, it seems more female stalkers than male, but male stalkers have a greater tendency to violence, which is why those cases make the news.

Hoping you are enjoying your days off with the lady, Jim.

We are in the second month of Spring here. Unseasonably hot for the third year in a row. Apparently Australia is breaking global records for hot temps. That's us, charging ahead of everyone else as the planet heats up. lol :D

Terri | 19576 comments Holy cow, I had to drop out of contact for two days and I return to discover our good mate, Derek, is back.

Great to see you, my brother.

Terri | 19576 comments Alicja,
Hope you are out there and are okay. I have been away from the computer for a couple weeks while my hubby and I had a couple weeks holidays together. When I swung by a couple days back I noticed you were absent and wondered if all was okay.

please be okay, mate.

Are they posting negatively on your photos, Lisa? i have never had that. I get people giving me attitude on my reviews, as you have had. Most of the time I delete their comments and block them. Better to ignore than to engage I find. Block and forget they ever existed. :)

message 9996: by Terri, Wyrd bið ful aræd (new)

Terri | 19576 comments Okay, this is a quick visit. Hubby's first day back at work today and I am catching up on housework.
Tomorrow I'll be back in strength. Will do the Monthly polls too! Sorry that is a day late. :]
