Ouch!!
On a side note, its really cool that a skeleton of a king can be found under a parking lot. Nothing that cool ever happens in America.

Thank you Derek! That's perfect!
You're very welcome Kimber. Glad I could help. :)

My husband has gone on two weeks holidays from work.
First ones for 18 months and we are catching up on a million jobs at home as well as going places and doing things together away form home. There's so much stuff we never get to do while he is at work and so we are trying to cram as much of it into his two weeks off as possible.
I will continue to have a patchy presence for the next couple weeks, but I will drop in when I can.
I miss you all and I just wanted all our members to know that I haven't abandoned them. I'll be back in regular contact as soon as hubby goes back to work.
So don't go forgetting me. Its only two weeks! :)
Tootles for now,
Terri

Have a Great 'Vacay' Terri!
Derek - I joined the group and it's wonderful...except for the fact that when I log on Goodreads I now have 40 notifications instead of the usual 8 to 12. *sigh* You have to be a group member to find the book you can't remember so I'll stick with it a bit.

yes, you say so. we know perfectly well you're suntanning with your husband on the rim of a swimming pool with drinks with small umbrellas and a new juicy book... (at least, I hope so..) ;)

This a pic of me at the top of the "Y" mountain in Provo, Utah. 1 1/2 mile vertical at 6000 ft!! I do this in my down time!!

You going to be doing any more "Y" games this yr?
Darcy - the Y is only about 1/2 of the way up that mountain :)
Terri - enjoy your time away from us :)

Although you and Happy with your bazillion mile walks a day to tops of mountains and back put me to shame... our mailboxes are at the front of our complex and every day I'm like "ugh! I'll just get my mail tomorrow, I dont feel like walking that far!"

Darcy, that is true but I was exhausted at the "Y". Went just a bit farther but even coming down is so steep found it taxing my knees and hamstrings.
Happy,I have another game, ergo will climb the "Y" again, Oct. 3rd. But then I go straight out to Sundance (Robert Redford's resort)and "rehydrate" at the Owl!!!! Feel I earn it after that hike. I live at sea level so hiking there and running out at Bridal Veil really tests me.

@Allie, I know that feeling when moving my body anywhere is just too much today. Do it tomorrow? Not likely.
@Gretchen, Ouch! Will Petersen ever play again? Just watching him on the field could make my day. Despite their troubles, the Vikings look formidable to me.

You know what Indiana Jones said...it's not the age, it's the mileage!

As a long time Cowboys fan I can tell you why the Jerry Jones route is not a good thing. Yes, he's good about helping the taxpayers out with the financials of the new stadium (and that's helping..not completely paying for) BUT you do NOT want a team run Jerry Jones style for anything in the world. Jerry calls all the shots. Experienced coaches don't want to work with him because he makes all the decisions - draft choices, salaries, starting players - and new coaches with talent realize how restrictive he is and leave. We haven't been a championship team since the early 90's when Jimmy Johnson was strong enough to take charge of the team himself. When Jerry pushed back, Jimmy left and the Cowboys have been a joke ever since.

I feel for you. I'm doubly cursed. Raised in Texas - Cowboys Fan. Born in St. Paul - Vikings fan. No luck with the NFL here.

Be careful at Bridal Veils - it seems like a couple of kids die there trying to climb it every couple of yrs - normally in the winter when it is frozen

Is your New Year starting now? That's fascinating. My inner New Year Day has always been in September!
Happy New Year to you, Carol

I loved that book (many Kleenex were sacrificed while reading)

Banning is meh, just makes me want read it. Open minds is a good thing.

What is the basis for the challenge? Content, language etc.?

Steins was flagged for a scene in which a teenager incites non-consensual sex with an adult.

Good link, Dawn. I want to scream at these book banning parents!
I particularly liked this comment made by someone in response to the matter.
"Can they really think not exposing children to things like this adequately prepares them for the life they have ahead of them?
Hide them in a cave, and they will only be prepared for life inside of that cave.
Expose them to the world explaining to them the rights and wrongs of what they see along the way, prepares them for making the right decisions when they step out into the world on their own." Yes!

I just can't believe this. My kids have always been free to choose any book in our home library, provided that they would ask for any detail or situation that could make them feel not at ease.
In my experience, this contributes to shape well balanced human beings, without prejudices, racism or morbid curiosities.
Please remember that during the 3rd Reich they used to burn books, also. NOT a good exemple, IMO.
