A well fed cat does definitely kill. Cats kill for pleasure and play. They sometimes only eat the prey if they aren't well fed, otherwise they'll play with their prey for hours. Killing it slowly.A lot of owners don't know how many creatures their cats kill unless they bring the remains into the house.
But anyway. I shouldn't speak out about cats. this is what gets me into trouble with the cat lovers. :)

Also depends on the cat. Some cats simply don't have the killer instinct.
Oscar across the street from us is one of those. He sits and cries when the birdies won't play with him. Though a couple of the magpies will sometimes play with him. They play a weird avian/feline version of chasey. It's obvious to anyone watching that there is no intent to kill or hurt involved.
Oscar chases magpie, reach the bottlebrush, run/fly around it, then magpie chases Oscar. Repeat until both parties are exhausted. :D

We definitely notice a decrease in birds when my daughter brings her cats here. They lived here for most of a year & use the dog door like our dogs. Our bird feeders empty & they've chased off my bluebirds. I have 2 dozen bb houses around the place. Unfortunately, they don't tend to scare off the sparrows that take up residence.
Our cat stalks the little lizards that inhabit most of Florida. He rarely catches them as they are outside the screen enclosure and he is inside. But he stealthily stalks and pounces as if. The squirrel that lives in the oak tree right outside the enclosure gets a good laugh watching these antics the cat is always optimistic
I'd not seen nor heard the term eugenics in 3.5 years. In the last 12 hours I've read it several times in the book I'm reading and just now while watching Inspector George Gently. Not sure if it's significant, but it sure does give me the creeps.
Haha just caught up on the cats and dogs discussion. As you can see from my avatar, I'm definitely on the dogs side. Now my human boys have both left for uni, it's up to my beagle boy to track mud through the house, leave towels on the floor and drop food down the back of the settee.
There's this massive used book sale this weekend put on by the library, who've also been collecting new book donations throughout the year. Now, I juat need to find some with a big enough car-boot.
Our library does one about once a yr.
Our kitties are rescue cats. I'm not sure how it works in other parts of the world but the agreement you have to sign here is that #1 They will be fixed. #2. They will be indoor cats. As a result my kitties love to decimate the local buggie population. Jayden prefers gnats. Jasper likes to play with spiders and flies. I'm not fond of them doing either but at least they aren't killing birds. They just like to sit at the window and watch the magpies.
Darcy - our bi-annual "Friends of the Fort Worth Library" sale is this weekend as well. My mother used to do the annual library sale in Waco and used to let me in early to do my shopping. All books $1.00. I used to come home with bags and bags and bags of books. Love those sales!
On a different note...Book Store Score! Once again I went overboard at the local discount store. Came home with three bags full of books: Ken Follett's Century trilogy, A Rose for the Crown and Daughter of York by Anne Easter Smith, The Winter King and Enemy of God by Cornwell, Falls the Shadow and Lionheart by Sharon Kay Penman, The Irish Princess and The Queen's Governess by Karen Harper, The Perfect Royal Mistress, The Queen's Rival and The Secret Bride by Diane Haeger, Niccolò Rising by Dorothy Dunnett, Innocent Traitor by Weir, The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh, Pale Rose of England by Sandra Worth, and Finding Emilie by Laurel Corona. Of course I went in looking for Rutherford's Sarum. *sigh*
now you say so just to have the excuse to go back and find 30 other books...
Went to the library book sale, but was limited by my paltry $6. So I'll go back on Sunday (somehow) and see about getting some more.
Hah! And I thought I was the only one that has to be dragged out of the bookstore today. :D

Absolutely! It's $3 a bag (2 bags for $5) on Sunday, whereas yesterday and today, hardcover and trade paperbacks are $2 a piece.

Willmar, Minnesota- It's trending on Facebook! That town is only like 20 minutes away from me. It's second in trending only to the Ebola virus. Clearly I'm having a boring weekend if that's all I have to be excited about.
Speaking of bookcases Simona, I have finally decided on my new shelves. I can't believe it's taken so long to decide. I was torn between shelving or a bookcase. Am sooo excited! I've finally decided on 3 different sizes (width ways) with glass doors, in white. Tadah, decision made. You have no idea how long this has taken me to decide. I have had to choose a new kitchen, decide on all new lounge room furniture, blah blah blah, but this is the only decision that I put any real effort into, haha. Oh dear!
Lol Gretchen. I just joined Facebook. Didn't want to, I was always kind of anti Facebook but wanted to apply for a job and you could only apply thru your Facebook account. Grr. But it is useful, I had missed a lot of videos of my nephew my sister posted but got to see them all now :)
A bunch of friends went and saw Gone Girl today but I didn't go...I want to read the book first. I know my peeps on here will understand. None of my other friends read, they're such losers! ;)
Allie we used facebook to keep in touch with family while we were travelling, just so they could see where we were and stuff. Unlike many who have this endless list of friends, I just choose people I want to be apart of and that's it. Oh and endless Boxer dog rescue sites, haha. I spend more time on GR, but it can be a could way to stay in touch though. And if anyone puts up stuff you just aren't interested in, just "unfollow" them.
Pretty much all my Facebook friends are my family members lol with maybe a handful of close friends and a few GR pals. I'm on for like, 5 mins to check my notifications and then I'm done. I spend all my online time on GR too :)
Ditto Lisa & Allie wrt FB & GR, Facebook being a good way of reconnecting with folk you've not seen for a while mind its also good for setting up private clubs too so the chat is amongst friends only? Also use it for clubs/teams to follow
I have an old school friend that uses it to have music games. She will post a year, with a biography of all the major events that happened that year, and then every day we alphabetically had to post a link to song from that year. We went from the early 60's to current times, so each year took us 26 days!! It did a few things: made a bunch of old school friends reconnect, we all made new friends, and we all got to hear some of the best and worst music ever!! It was a real hoot. I don't have many friends on FB, same as GR, and I like the way that keeps it a little more personal. There is definitely some crap on there at times, but you have to filter it out.

I've finally decide..."Last summer we bought (another) bookcase for one of the few corners devoid of these. It was a Hale and I'm very happy with it. The smart thing is that you can rearrange the units if you decide to move it, since they are just piled one on another.
I just googled Hale Simona, they look great!
Have a look. They have different depth and colors, and you can choose if you want the front in glass or wood. I love them.

Looks like it's a good time for book sales. I went to one on Friday and came out with two literature anthologies, a reader on classical Islam, and a double volume on American constitutional law. They're having the second round today, and I don't think I have the willpower to stay away.
I'm waiting for 23rd November. It's the local historical society's quarterly book sale. The local library donates its excess to requirements books and there are others donated. I got about 8 or 9 good quality hardbacks for about $10 last quarter.
Jack the Ripper references on Forever episode tonight (believe it plays tomorrow in the US). Is it shown elsewhere I wonder.

I am team "Olivia needs to find a man who isn't going to screw her over". After last season I was all about Mellie. Bellamy Young is amazing!

I worried about that too when starting the show but I had seen him in a few other things and thought he looks hot as hell now and much better than he did then! I don't see "Carl" at all now, thank goodness.I wish Quinn would kick rocks too! Actually the only gladiator I liked was Huck.

I'm quite liking it too. The mix of Highlander, Sherlock Holmes, and Castle is good. Plus I really like relationship between Judd Hirsch's and Ioan Gruffudd's characters. The other pathologist cracks me up too.
I must go with Bobby and Lisa to keep them out of trouble!

I believe the non-Forever discussions are about another tele porgram called Scandal. I'm in the dark on this one too, doesn't appeal to me.

Mine never did. Except for mice that got into the house. Those she knew weren't supposed to be there.
