Size and the definition of 'attractive'

I just feel like people should say what they want to say and not cover it up, even if it's a group against discrimination. If we don't say anything how are we to know what to fix? If we are always worried about offending people, too many things will go unsaid. Sure, we might just all share similar views. But there's still wiggle room for something. I prefer straight up truth, even to the point of blunt rudeness. But everything here seems to... I dunno. It's just weird. Almost seems fake.
Woolfie... this is a debate folder. Discrimination/Debate. This is FOR debate.
You know what? Can I come up with a suggestion for how to reorganize the group? See if it can fix the problem? I can either message it to someone(it would be something where I type up all the folders and topics and move them around in a organized list. Then I'd also suggest other topics you can add and where and why) or post it in the Mods chat folder or something. Then you all can talk it over and see what you think.

And that comment, was obviously off topic now, lol.

Of course there are people with different points of view, such as the FA (Fat Admirer) community. I think the debate should not be about what shape you are, but more to do with what is healthy.
And the fact is, not all obese people are unhealthy, but that again depends on your definition of healthy.

Thank you, Sunshine. But I'd really like Woolfie to tell me I can before I go spending a couple hours going OCD on another group.

Oh yeah, whoops, silly me, you're right Lynx. Hmm not an awful lot of it going on is there, hmm. I to like your ideas. Have you applied to be a mod? I'd consider you for certain, and yes you can:)

I haven't. I probably will soon. And I'll try coming up with a suggested plan in a day or two. You don't have to use it. I've done this with another group. They declined it for a while. Decided to do it later though.

okay... back on topic....
How do we feel about the subject of size acceptance?
Is it encouraging obesity?
Does fat=unhealthy?
I think people should accept their size and be comfortable about it, but also not receive negative comments about it. A lot of people can't do anything about their weight. It's not their fault in some cases.
I don't think it's encouraging obesity. There's all the health problems that comes with obesity along with other problems. It's not something where (most)people will look around and go, "Oh well, nobody is being negative to heavier people anymore. I should go gain a hundred pounds!" There's too many problems that come.
No, fat doesn't equal unhealthy. Everyone has fat. You can be more healthy than a skinny person and be fat. The problem is where your BMI is too high. Your BMI(sorry, Body mass index, for those that don't know) doesn't take into account muscle though. Muscle weighs more than fat. You could be told you have a somewhat high BMI, but most of it could end up being muscle. You can never be exactly sure. It's just when it gets to the point where it's clearly fat and your health is at a risk that it's a problem. The same(minus the fat) goes for being underweight. That's why I've been saying just aim to be healthy. Everyone's body is different. Why try and put it in an unnatural body weight? Whether that's too low, or too high.

I know I'm not "fat", most of my weight comes from muscle. People still make jokes about me because "my arms and legs aren't as little as theirs". Ya know what people? Its called muscle, and you don't wanna piss me off and see what it can do. I'm sorry for the voilentness of that, but I had to take a lot of crap for it a few years ago. I still do, but not as bad. Except now its from people I thought were my friends... That tends to hurt a bit more...

you're not fat.

I know people who want bigger arms and legs. Nothing wrong with that. It all has to do with how people are built, that's all. I wish I had more defined muscle in my arms and legs! It's all there but you can barely tell.
Woolfie wrote: "Hmm yes, but I think this image that people tend to have that fat is unhealthy is wrong. I mean it's all about what you eat, and with the predominance of processed food nowadays, which is healthier..."
Yes, a lot of it is about what you eat. And exercise also. But I've talked to many people who were overweight... and had health problems. I've also met people who were too skinny and had problems. I don't see a problem with fat. I really don't. But there's two kinds of fat. The fat that comes naturally and little can be done about, though you are probably healthy, and the kind where you are overweight(sometimes not even with it being your fault) and unless you loose weight and such you will keep having the problems. That's why people have been saying to just try and be healthy. If your healthy range is a little on the heavier side, so be it! If it's on the much thinner side of things, nothing wrong with that. As long as your weight(or lack of it) isn't putting you in risk it's good.
And now, I really need to go to bed because I'm about to fall asleep on the laptop. Night everyone!

I'm sort of embarrassed to admit it, but when it comes to looks.. I'm not that pretty. I mean, I'm not saying I think I'm ugly... But, gosh!

"I am ugly and I am proud!" Correct my if I'm wrong, but isn't that from Spongebob?

Which I don't. I don't believe in myself... anymore...

In my opinion it´s mostly about the character. Of course, the body does play an important role, there´s no denying this, but have you ever relized that the longer you know people, the more beautiful they seem to you? I think much has to do with familiarity and how much youn like people.
And that IS from Sponge Bob. ;)
And: You - are - not - ugly! I´ve actually never met someone I would consider totally ugly!

"*dumb laughter* Look at her! She's so- *more laughter*" FIVE MINUTES LATER "Did you finish the History homework?"
Me: "Yeah."
Them: "Ooh, can I have the answers? I didn't do it."
Me: ...?
Sounds stupid, right? Sounds like it's not that bad, huh? Yeah. Everything the say is stupid and a four year old could insult me better. A four year old HAS insulted me better. But the way in which it was INTENDED is what hurts.
I should just stop. No one needs to hear about me and my problems. So I'll stop.
No, no. Let it all out, Kiyuto.
You know what I think? I honestly think you're beautiful. I haven't seen you, I'll admit to that. But just because people tell you that you are ugly, doesn't make you ugly. Everyone has different views of beauty. The problem seems to be that their comments have changed your views of yourself so much so that you find yourself to be ugly when you probably aren't.
Though I find that if something is bothering you appearance wise, even the slightest change will make you more confident. I'll use myself as an example. Three years ago, I had darn near zero confidence in my appearance. My blonde curls were a sloppy, tangled mess no matter what I did, I had extra fat and very little in the way of a chest(so clothes looked horrible on me), I didn't care what I wore and looked like a slob, and overall I just didn't look very good. Then one day I upped and decided to completely change my wardrobe because nothing was flattering. Gradually I started being more picky about what I wore and ended up with a better wardrobe. Wasn't a dramatic change, but it was good. I also started on a slight workout and watched what I ate a little more than before to drop my waist size some. Then one day I decided I wanted to cut my hair. Got a side part, layers, and bangs compared to the part in the middle and letting it just hang to my elbows. So I got my hair cut and looked like a different person. It was more flattering to my face and fixed my hair problems. Completely boosted my confidence. From there things just started falling more and more into place and I started looking better and better. Now look at me, I'm a model. If you looked at a pic of me from a few years ago, you would never have guessed I'd end up one.
My whole point in saying that is to try something new. If you're not happy and are not confident as you are, just do something a little different. It could be enough to slowly start making you more and more confident. Ignore what they say. Compliment yourself. Change something(for example, get a cute haircut that flatters your faceshape) and people will notice and probably comment about how it's nice or cute. The compliments will boost your confidence ever so slightly and from there you'll get an idea of what to do to get them to stop with the comments or learn to ignore them.
Sometimes that's the only option left. Change something so you feel different and better about yourself. I don't know if it will work for you, but it worked for me. You could even do that with what Sunshine wrote. Change something light and the people wouldn't have picked it apart yet and pointed out flaws. You'd have time to try and see yourself with confidence.
Oh, and feel free to message me if you'd like. I can try and help you out some if you like my idea. I've spent hours looking into things like what clothing to wear for what figure, what hair style to do for what faceshape(I actually cut my sister's and mom's hair), makeup styles, etc.

I think I'm ugly... but I wouldn't be ugly at all if my teeth were straight and my acne just poofed away, lol.
So until that happens you've got an ugly betch in me to talk to. I'm always here so just pop a message to me if you ever need some encouragement or just a random bitch-out session... I make an amazing floor mat, just wipe all your shit off on me.

To Woolfie's questions, I think we are encouraging obesity and fat does equal unhealthy. Um... I don't know, I feel there's a big push to be healthy, but everyone is going about it in the wrong way. That's choppy, but let's start a discussion.
