I am going to be leaving the cozies for a little while, I was able to get an advanced copy of Marcia Clark's Blood Defense. Marcia Clark was involved in the O J Simpson trial in the 1990s. I am excited to get into the book, but I will be back.

I have been trying to work on breaking through a reading barrier. Sci -fi works are a bit of a challenged area for me. I will read them but do avoid. I have 2 sons and a husband that are huge fans of the genre. But for myself, I do just enough to keep up at a a very basic level. Secretly, this year, I have committed myself to muttling through at a deeper level. I just finished Valor's Choice and while I still find myself lacking in love for, I did not completely hate it. I picked up a short classic The Time Machine in hopes that a bit of root work will enhance my desire to find enjoyment in this respected area.

You might try Issac Asimov to get into scifi. The Caves of Steel is scifi robots working with police, so it is a detective story too. That is the book which got me interested in science fiction. it takes place in future New York so the world building curve isn't so steep.

I am tackling The Windup Girl by Paulo Bacigalupi. It's challenging but very good.

I finished Adam by Ted Dekker. It was a good book and I think I will be reading more of his stuff. I also finished reading The Waste Land and other Poems by T.S. Eliot. I always find myself returning to his work and finding so much meaning in his poems. I think it's time to return to the cozy genera.

Just read If I Am Missing or Dead: A Sister's Story of Love, Murder, and Liberation which was so not worth the effort. Pass on this. Also read Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34 which was well worth every minute. Am also reading Platinum Doll -- so far well worth my time.

Issac Asimov! That is the author! My husband and I had gone to an event together a few years back in which we needed to choose a favorite author, I have been racking my brains trying to remember who that author was!

The last month has been really busy, but I am finally getting around to Marcia Clark's Blood Defense . So far (50 pages in), it is outstanding! Hope you enjoyed it, Mary.

About a year ago I picked up The Gathering Storm at one of the local libraries book sales. Curious more than anything; as it stated in the summery that another author was attempting with the help of the Robert Jordans wife to complete this series. His dedication within the book to Mr. Jordan moved me to tears. Naturally a series and author that could touch another in such a way I had to read. I took it home and did read it even knowing how lost I was sure to be. Incredible!
I must find The Eye Of The World and start this series as it was meant~I shall take your post as the push.

I read Vaor's Choice by Tanya Huff. She is a good author, but the story line was difficult for me to remain interested in. If you think about it, I would love to know how Blood Price turns out for you.

Assume you actually mean BLOOD PRICE? I loved the Vickie Nelson books! I read them after I got hooked on the Blood Ties TV show that was on Lifetime. It was based on the Vickie Nelson books. Henry Fitzroy is my favorite vampire, after Eric Northman!

I found out how to spend the money from the class action suit. They sent me a check in the mail and it was for more money then I had expected.

Ohh oops, yes, Melodie~ Blood Price.
The author Tanya Huff, came recommended to me. I picked up the first book in Confederation. While impressed with the authors abilities as an author, Valor's Choice was just not the book for me.
I put Blood Price in my tbr, but honestly have been pretty shy about reading it.
Your recommendation, along with seeing how Brandi feels about has peaked my curiosity again!

Yes. Blood Price. I must be tired. Thank you Melodie. I decided to read this book also because of the TV show Blood Ties that was on Lifetime. I like Henry too for a vampire. I'm not very far into it but so far it's been good. To me Henry seems a little more aggressive in the book then how he was portrayed in the TV show. I actually have the Blood Ties series on DVD. I think I might have to revisit them after I finish this book.

I pull out the DVDs and watch an episode or 2 about once a month! There are a few differences between "book" Henry and "TV" Henry.

Try 13 by Peter Clines. I struggle with Sci-Fi too but loved this one.

While I was between books I started back reading The Complete Sherlock Holmes and Tales of Terror and Mystery by Arthur Conan Doyle. Decided it was time to at least finish The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes which is the 3rd book in this Omnibus. Now partway through The Man With The Twisted Lip.
