Wow, Sunflower - I would count those 2 as at least 7 books :)

The January shelf worked well for paring down my LOST list. I finished Bending the Landscape:Original Gay and Lesbian Writing: Science Fiction, which makes 6 down, 4 to go. My review here .
I'm afraid the last 4 won't go so quickly -- 3 are by the same author.

How are you all going with your LOST books?? I can't believe it but we've entered the second month of the year!
I'm in the middle of 2 of mine. Should have one done, maybe tonight and the other by end of week, then I'll be on track :)

Snow Crash
The Lute Player and
Lords of the Psychon
Another one is on the February shelf so I might get around to it depending on other challenges.

I'm going to try and read:
Shutter Island
Let the Right One In
Black
'Salem's Lot
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War
Obernewtyn
1984
The Da Vinci Code
The Catcher in the Rye
Neuromancer

Hmmm....
So I have been thinking about how I'm going to read all the books on my LOST list this year. Does that count as progress? True, I haven't actually finished any of them (or started) but....well...uhhhh....Hey, what's that over there! **runs away**

I am right there with you!

Dionisia, I don't know whether it's the lateness of the hour or the pain in my neck (can't turn my neck suddenly) but I had to read your post a few times before I get it. Had to smack my forehead, of course!
Too funny!
Too funny!
Guess I am in Dionisia's camp also. I just revisted my list and found that the book I am reading that I thought was on the LOST list is not...guess it is my Chain Gang Book. Oh, well....gotta start planning to get something started! :)

So I think I'll replace that with the next one down: Little Women

Hehehe. Figured out how to make way on my LOST list. I just let my next Chain Gang pick come from that list! Now to get the book from the library.

Yes, I thought that, too. It's easy to see the humor from the safety of my armchair and the impersonal distance of a book. :)

1.The Shack
2.The Prince
3.Marked
4.The Chronicles of Narnia
5.The Alchemyst
6.The Poisonwood Bible
7.Eldest
8.Outlander
9.Misery
10.Dracula
I finished Far From Xanadu, and give it only 2.5 stars. I must've put a bunch of Peters's books on my TBR right after reading Luna. I hope the others are more like Luna in quality than like Far From Xanadu, or finishing the rest of my LOST list will be tough. My review here .
So proud of myself. I have 5 of my LOST books planned for reading! Two (Les Miserables and The Swan Thieves) I just checked out of the library today! Three I own and have moved from the many odd shelves in my home to the actively reading shelf.
I am going to get this list done this year....maybe even start on the next group, too!

One down...twelve to go! The Secret Life of Bees is a book I have intended to start, oh so many times, and just could not seem to get to it! Well, I just do not know why not. Maybe a book has a certain time to be read or maybe a reader has to be in a certain place...anyway, I read it and gave it a 5*.

A 5 star vote for The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. It is always a good sign when I find numerous quotes that I want to remember in the first few pages. This book has a well crafted story line, wonderful characters, and a writing style that is both lyrical and addicting. It is a real treat and a must read IMO.

Do I have to make a list? I would rather keep it a little more flexible and not lock myself into a "must read list" I just want to pick and choose as I go. Lists for me represent chores that need to get done then I start to feel stressed out. This is one area of my life I want to keep stress free and fun. Am I making any sense here?

The whole point of this challenge is to read the oldest books on your to-be-read shelf, so I would think that would limit you to the oldest books on the shelf. I understand what you mean, but I'm not sure that's the reason for this challenge. Last year I read all but 2 or so of my list, so I just put them back on the list for this year. But I'm not a moderator on here, so maybe they have a different answer :)

Then this does not seem to be the challenge for you. I would advise maybe the Snakes and Ladders game...or Chain-Gang

OK, I can't take it any more. 5 books in a row by the same author is just too much. I'm liking each book by Julie Anne Peters less and less.
So I'm scratching the next two books of hers from my TBR list for now. Maybe I'll add them back later, but right now, it'll be fine with me if I never read another of her books.
I just finished By the Time You Read This, I'll Be Dead (My review here), which leaves me with two more to read.
Since I'm scratching Between Mom and Jo off my TBR, at least for now, I need to add the next latest one, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. And Crossfire is still there waiting.

Jo Ann, as per LynnB's and Bea's comments, this challenge does limit you to your oldest TBR books.
If you don't want to, you don't have to post your list here or make any list, really, however the books will have to be picked out from the books that have been on your to-read list the longest, so that in itself limits you to certain books.
This challenge may not be one that appeals to you and I'm not sure if Snakes & Ladders appeals to you either? In a way, it does let you choose but there is still limits your choices to certain criterias... Most reading challenges do specify criterias of books being read, sorry :)

9. Lord of the Flies
10. Midnight Sun
Some I'm excited about and others not so much. We'll see how I do.

Nine down, one to go! I finished Crossfire, which I really liked, gave it 4 stars. My review here .
Now, when I finish my last S&N book, I'll be done with my first LOST list for 2012 as well. Though this one doesn't help shrink my TBR at all -- there's a sequel I just added to replace the one I finished.

Good for you, Susan. I have gotten only one of mine read so far. But the year is still young.

LynnB, I only read three last year. I did not start with this group until May, so three is rather good for me for part of the year since they are my LOST books. However, if I complete the two that I am reading...and I will...then I will have passed last year's performance in just 3 months of this year. I have high hopes for getting through my list and starting another!

Good going, Bea! I'm trying to find my LOST books on each of the spaces I land on in Snakes & Ladders and also when they fit on the shelf of the month. If I try to read them outside of that, it seems to take longer and I put them off. It seems to be working well... so far anyway!

Yeah, me too. Trying to fit them into other challenges, that is. So far I have four not yet reading that I have slated for other challenges.
