No Shmuli, I wouldnt worry about it, I dont know where you are from, but its the taboo nature of the work not really the writing or descriptions that make it so controversial. It is a classic and a person that knows what it is about would know its a classic by a great writer someone that doesnt know its a classic probably doesnt know what its about anyway.

Discovered Alcott's work when I was in elementary school. I wanted to be Jo...or Louisa.

I'm reading Catcher in the Rye. I find Holden completely annoying. Not to the end yet, so I hate to jump to conclusions early. So far not a fan though.

i know she is definitely an interesting character. do u know if they are making the next movie?

i know she is definite..."
well, not sure about the English movie but Swedish versions have already been made...

i have read 19 of the 50 and i own about ten others i plan to read. right now i am reading strictly for pleasure which is the way we should all read if not in school. i am reading Emily of New Moon and Daughter of Joy both are really good so far but will probably never make the classic list nor the 50 books to read before you die.
I'm about to finish 'The Illustrated Man' by Ray Bradbury. It's really good. I've never read a novel that uses frame device to this extent, which makes it interesting, and each story is as magnificent as the one before.
Bradbury holds a special place in my heart :)

I used to teach Something Wicked This Way Comes. Bradbury's language and concepts were sometimes difficult for 8th graders, but they loved the strange, creepy tone. Bradbury is a big favorite of mine too!

I absolutely love that one. Have you read The Martian Chronicles yet?

Only a couple of excerpts. It's somewhere on my very long list...

Yes, i think its because of Sirius that its my fav book.

I too read "Shantaram" at the recommendation of a friend, and I'm glad I did. Learned so much about a culture that I knew next to nothing about....
Re-reading a book called Ecotopia that I was first introduced to in college. Also trying to finish Home by M. Robinson. Her writing has a wistful, nostalgic quality that I like, but her pace is a little slow sometimes.

I have just finished Homecoming by Cathy Kelly (not her best) and have started Maleficent Seven by Derek Landy. Just saw the cover of the new Skulduggery this week and it looks awesome!
