What are you reading?
Good day and Happy News Years Eve! I have just finished reading "The daughter of Time," by Josephine Tey. I've been working my way through Proust's "Swann's Way," and "Dewey." I plan on starting "The death of Ivan Ilyich," by Tolstoy as well as whatever book this group starts in January. I am looking forward to the discussion and being apart of this group. Have a safe new years and Happy New Year!
Happy new year! Proust, Tolstoy.. I think you 'll have no problem getting through the list! I've just joined and counted 19 books that i've read of this list including Gullivers travels and Alice. Most if them, like Orwell, were on my reading list in highschool.Looking forward though on reading some more...
Cheers
Happy New Years Everyone! all your books sound very interesting, im reading a book called 13 Little BLue Envelopes, and im looking forward to reading whatever book end up with the most votes on here.... Happy Reading.... :)
I haven't been active in this group for a few months and I can't believe how much it's grown! How wonderful to see so many people up to the task of reading great literature! I'm very disappointed in my progress on this list in 2011 (I got sidelined by some very introspective and well-written tomes with half-naked men on the cover. heehee) and I vow - here and now! - to read every book on this list in 2012!
Would you believe half of them?
How about 5?
Maybe I'll just join you on The Color Purple and we'll go from there...
Tales of the Unexpected by Roald Dahl (LOVE IT!!) and I'm going to start Zombicorns by John Green tonight which is very exciting :)

you sound like me, and i know i wont get the whole list checked of by 2012 but as long as i can get some checked of its all good :)
im still reading Anna Karenina lol....
oh and i just finished Hunger Games.... OMG! good book.
Hey,I am currently reading "Emma" by Jane Austen. I read The Color Purple a while ago. It is a very sad story but it does have a happy ending.
Finally about to start Pride and Prejudice...hard to believe I've made it to my age without reading this book. Then on to "The Count of Monte Cristo"....
yeah it would be great motivation to read Count of Monte Cristo as a group, ill put it as one of the options on the next poll
Just finished "The Book Theif" and starting Wally Lamb's "I Know this Much is True". Also still reading "Mansfield Park" by Jane Austin on my e-reader.
Finished "Pride and Prejudice"....really enjoyed it. About 100 pages into "Count of Monte Cristo" and am hooked! Love it so far...
Loved the Hobbit and All of Jane Austen. I am currently reading The Luxe and Anne of Green Gables (again). Some friends and I are having an Anne of Green Gables luncheon soon where we are making all the wonderful food from the book and are going to watch the movies (which aren't as good as the books but still nice).I just joined the club and I am wondering if we are reading these in order??
everynow and then we set up a poll on random picked books from the list, and then we vote on what we should read, the last poll we had a 3 way tie, so those are gonna be the next 3 books for the next 3 months
I have been reading the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and am going to start the Lord of the Rings trilogy (including the Hobbit).
I am currently reading Anne of Green Gables again. A wrinkle in Time. I am in the last chapters of both. Then I have the Hunger Games and Inkheart at home ready to start. I was told the Hunger Games is like Enders Game, so I thought it may be a good book. Time will tell.

i was told Inkheart was a good book but haven't gotten around to reading it.... i have to many books lol
Currently reading "Lady Anne and the Revenge of the Barbary Ghost" by Donna Lea Simpson. Almost finished with Pride and Prejudice and I'm absolutely head over heals in love with Darcy! I really recommend Judith McNaught to any historical romance lovers out there though!

It's a series of letters between a writer Juliet and the pen pals she makes from the Guernsey Islands.
I just finished reading it and I liked the book a lot! It was a refreshing change from all the books I've been reading lately. Granted, it's not a compulsive page turner, but I found the stories and the characters extremely endearing and warm.
A cozy read with some inspiring parts as well. Do it read it Mandee :)
I just finished Lolita and was blown away by it. I'll post a review shortly. I'm currently reading The Seville Communion by Arturo Perez-Reverte. Not far enough in to know if I'll like it or not. Anyone read it?
Just finishing The Count of Monte Cristo and am loving it! Edith Wharton's "The Age of Innocence" is up next for me....then Wuthering Heights!
I am reading Ulysses because that is what this group is supposed to be reading for April. I am also reading The Grapes of Wrath and The Poet.
I'm reading The Hunger Games, which I've almost finished. Falling Fast is next. And then The Hobbit.
