No - just the two, and they are kind of unrelated as they are set 100 years or so apart. They are quite big books though.

An amazing series if you have not already read it is the A Song of Ice and fire series (started with A Game of Thrones). Not yet complete. This is my favourite series of books by far.

message 124: by Mayra (new)

Mayra (kaligurl_7) | 371 comments yeah i saw the movie after i read the book

message 125: by Navaneeta (new)

Navaneeta I liked Memoirs of a Geisha. It was an easy read. Les Miserables scares me too but I have decided it's high time I am done with it. I am liking the characters and there are gems amidst all those winding philosophical passages. But too much of YA exposure has spoilt me and I am having a difficult time. Very. :(

Vikas Jain | 20 comments Hi trevor...indeed its a must read for everyone....

message 136: by Shmuli (new)

Shmuli Cohen I am reading The Picture of Dorian Gray. I am about a third of the way through. So far it is a sarcastic and ironic mix of puritanical 19 century London combined with cheap witticisms about the theory of love. I haven't made p my mind yet whether I like this book or not, certainly the writing is delicious and funny. It's the plot and characters which I find somewhat pathetic. Maybe that's what Zoscar had in mind. I'm not sure. Let's wait until the end.

I thought the same for the first two thirds of the story, but then it got much better and I was satisfied with this read.

message 138: by Shmuli (new)

Shmuli Cohen I just finished it tonight (well this early morning). The story was beautifully constructed, the language witty and virulent and the characters hopelessly like able. I lived it! It got better and better.
I read it with a lit guide next to me which helped immensely. The themes are complex and quite convoluted in their theory.
I'm very proud of myself in reading such a classic so easily. Great book. Thoroughly deserving if its claim as a top 50 book.

Rebecca (hobbitual_reader) I'm reading The Last Battle (Chronicles of Narnia, #7) by C.S. Lewis and Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

message 148: by Shmuli (new)

Shmuli Cohen I am reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night. I decided to read it cause it's on the Goodreads top 50. Easy to read, sweet and sad. About 2/3 way through. Don't know if it's a top 50 though. Narration is clever but lacks many characteristics which make a book a masterpiece.

I agree, its a good book, but not a masterpiece

message 150: by Shmuli (new)

Shmuli Cohen Time to tackle Lolita. I'm apprehensive, a little nervous, somewhat afraid and wonder whether I have to cover the book up on the train?
