Cariniao | 26 comments Hello everyone!! Nice to meet everyone. I am helping a friend of mine out in talking about her book that will be out in the spring of 2012! it's called "Wendy the Witch". We are so excited about it.
Please go to her facebook page, for every 500 fans the page gets, books will be donated to sick children at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and other facilities. P.S. there is a FAQ column on her facebook page in case you have more questions about her book, or you can ask me! I would love to answer any questions you may have!

Please go to: http://www.facebook.com/authorpatsyri...

Karin Cox (wwwgoodreadscomkarin_cox) | 6 comments Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the right place in here for this. My aim is to attract reviewers who review ebooks by self-published or indie authors and who want to be included in a free ebook for self-published authors promoting available review sites.

Over time, my intention is to create a website that authors can use to locate and "track" reviewers (keeping tabs on where they have submitted and when). There is no charge for inclusion or use of the ebook, for either the reviewer or the intended readership.

If this sounds like something you're interested in being included in, please register at http://www.editorandauthor.com/review...

Mods, please let me know if this is not the right place for this. I don't want to offend anyone.

Cheers
Karin

message 73: by NayNay (new)

NayNay I was just wondering if it is just me...has anybody notice that alot of books have the same covers (or very similar.) For some reason this bothers me, with all the beautiful Men and Women models, and talented artist why does this happen??

Love Conquers All (Room For Rent) by Debbie D. Ellis Beg for Mercy (Cambion, #1) by Shannon Dermott

First Bitten (The Alexandra Jones series) by Samantha Towle Bound In Darkness (A Vampire/Werewolf Romance) by Cynthia Eden

A Taste For Blood by Derek A. Murphy Turned (The Vampire Journals, #1) by Morgan Rice

Eye of the Beholder by Emma Jay Samson's Lovely Mortal (Scanguards Vampires, #1) by Tina Folsom

Love from the Ashes by Denise A. Agnew Silver Storm by Cynthia Wright

Stranded with a Cajun Werewolf (Stormy Weather, #5) by Selena Blake Before the Night is Over (Montana Cowboys, #2) by Sandy Sullivan

Vampire Dreams (Victorian Erotic, #1) by Gabrielle Bisset Reunion (Vampires Realm, #6) by Felicity E. Heaton

Terri ♥ (aka Mrs. Christian Grey) (mybookboyfriend) | 197 comments Wow. I think there is a vote list that has books with the same/similar covers.

Wow. I've never notice any of those before. Most of them I've seen one of the book covers, but not the other.

saga (iyagi) Existence by Abbi Glines has the same pic as another book too.

message 77: by Beo (last edited Jan 23, 2012 09:21AM) (new)

Beo (ichbeo) | 2 comments I believe this is because they use stock photos. Interesting when you find multiple books with the same photos. There is even a Listopia thread with the same models who appear on multiple books' covers.

Well yes they are the same models, BUT at least they are different book covers, that's not as bad as the same cover. It just bothers me, because alot of choosing a book is the great covers. I guess it's a silly thing to notice...lol

That is pretty funny. I have seen some of these covers but I didn't notice as well...

message 81: by Karina (new)

Karina Kantas That's such a shame. I think it's important for book cover to be originals.

I wonder if this was the author's decision or publisher?

message 82: by Terra (new)

Terra Synn (terrasynn) | 239 comments Sometimes its the author, sometimes its the publisher, but for a long while and I think its still happening,is that they send out the pics that would be the cover to be polled and pick the one with the highest appeal.

message 86: by Terra (new)

Terra Synn (terrasynn) | 239 comments Note: none of the "spoilers" are giving away the ending of the books, just just general info on characters that is a bit surprising. I promise I would never give away the ending to a book and ruin it for someone.

I have read the books and I am currently trying to finish the series. I hate the tv show because of a number of reasons:

1. They make Sookie out to be a whore. Yes she has sex with 3 different men that I know of, but is not like she is Anita Blake and is screwing every thing that comes along on two legs.

2. They make Jason into a vamp blood snorting bible thumper. Jason was never like this in the books, NEVER.

3.They make Bill sire a child, this never happened either. If you go back and read the either first or second book, (view spoiler).

4. They take away everything that Tara has succeeded in doing in her life. Yes background says that she came from a poor ghetto life, but according to the fist book, she had brought herself out of the ghetto and had made her life a success by being a buisness owner.

5. Tara and Sam never had a fling of any kind. They had a mutual respect for one another for making something out of their lives.

6.They make Sam out to be a run away who's parents did not understand about him being a shape-shifter. In the book (view spoiler).

So this just goes to show that HBO or what ever channel True Blood is on, just likes to have horny character and soap opera dialog.

message 94: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Goldin (stephengoldin) I know how that goes. I used to like the show Bones until I started reading Kathy Reichs' books. They're much better than the series. I'm glad she's getting the extra money, though; she deserves it.

Thomas Wilson (StorytellerTDW) | 53 comments What age did you ever try smoking cigarettes?
For the men of the group, at what age did you start thinking about women in a sexual manner or discussing things of an affectionate nature or more with your buddies?

I have been repeatedly blasted because of a fictional ten year old smoking cigarettes with his buddies, and discussing the possibility of having sex with a girl friend because it was before the normal age of boys change into men.

First off most kids who will experiment with cigarettes do so by age ten!
From a poll of men I work with most boys start having inappropriate thoughts about women by age five or six and are definitly talking to their buddies about by age ten!!

Lastly not all books with children in them are YA books, so if you assume they are you might be surprised by what you run into.

What do you think?
Experiment with smoking - what age?
Talking about Sex with male buddies?

I know someone who just caught her 10-year-old daughter smoking in the backyard. It happens. I think my husband was 8 when he started smoking. His dad owned in a shop where they had the old-fashioned cigarette machines, and him and his brother could just reach in and steal a pack whenever they wanted.

message 99: by NayNay (new)

NayNay In my opinion....books always turn out to be better than the T.V. shows or motion pictures. I'm one who is always disappointed in the screen writers direction. Here are some I liked both book and movie and some I liked only the book.

LIKED BOTH
Jaws by Peter Benchley Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult Along Came a Spider by James Patterson Kiss The Girls by Patterson James The Awakening and The Struggle (The Vampire Diaries, #1-2) by L.J. Smith

LIKED BOOK NOT MOVIE
The Help by Kathryn Stockett My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris

LIKED MOVIE BETTER THAN BOOK (very rare)
North and South (North and South, #1) by John Jakes Love and War (North and South, #2) by John Jakes Heaven and Hell (North and South, #3) by John Jakes The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
