You should look into getting a Chaweiner. Its a duchsen-Chihuahua mix. It my sound like a horrible yappy and skittish breed, but both of the ones I have owned were very well tempered and calm. Both of them didn't take crap from bigger dogs, but were not violent towards me. Both were not all that keen on kids, but I had not raised them around children. All in all they are a great breed to own.

Terra Synn (terrasynn) | 239 comments I just like having a small lap dog. I want a dog that can always fit in my lap, not carry around in my purse, but is small enough that it doesn't look like a small horse

I love big dogs. My dad is a hunter, so growing up we always had labs or spaniels. Little dogs are cute, but not as much fun to play with :)

Karina Kantas I've been collecting frogs (not real ones) ever since I was a teen.

You can imagine how many I have now. And I only just found out that it's bad luck to have more then 3 frogs in any room. lol

The last big dog my mom had would attack me if I whispered or came home late at night and came in to get my little dog from the foot of my mom's bed. I had to punch that damn dog in the nose multiple times before my mom finally took him back to the humane society.

My mom had been told it was a mutt, but did not have pit in it. When I saw the dog I told my mom it had pit in it and when it started attacking me, my dad, and my 3 little goddaughters, is when it started having the crap beaten out of it. (The only time this dog got hit at all was when it attacked. My family and I don't believe in hurting animals, but if an animal is trying to rip my face off or trying to dismember my goddaughters, its getting the crap beat out of it.)

We told the humane society why we brought the dog back and told them that the dog would be happy in a home with a single woman that had no children at all. They found the dog just that. The dog was the perfect guard dog, just not a family dog.

Yep...that's why I always tell my kids not to go up and pet dogs they don't know.

We had a golden retriever when I was younger, which are supposed to be super friendly dogs, but this one wasn't. My dad had to keep her tied up outside and tried to train her because she was a great hunting dog, but eventually he had to give her to a family without kids. She just didn't like kids. He had gotten her when she was a couple of years old, so maybe she had been abused or something before she came to us.

We also had a cat when I was growing up who looked exactly like the cat from Pet Cemetary (anyone seen it?) and acted like it too. She was nice to the family, but if we had friends or guests over, she would attack them! We had to shut her in the laundry room anytime someone was coming over.

message 150: by Karina (new)

Karina Kantas Nothing cheeky about that Michael.

You should check out my short story collection, the ideas for the dark tales came from song titles off the Best of the beast album.
