What Are You Reading? Part 1

I pretty much always finish books I start even ones I don't really like but I agree this review is pretty harsh. For awhile I was writing some harsh reviews (not like this one though) but I took them all down. I started to think about how hard the authors work to write and it didn't seem right to be so critical. If I read a book I don't really like I usually skip writing a review and only write reviews for books I really love. After the last Sookie Stackhouse book came out I read somewhere that some fans were so upset by the way the series ended that the author was getting death threats. That seemed crazy to me and really unfair.

I know there's even some threads that are pretty harsh and basically bash you and the author for supporting the book. I posted in one of those and got SO MUCH SHIT and now i just feel like crap (namely, the one under City of Bones discussions)

I have written four 1-star reviews. I feel it is important to be honest, to help other readers find books they will like. But I dont think I have been unnecessarily mean. As far as I recall I have never called out an author in my reviews. I just focus on the content.

lol

O-M-G it was awesomesauce! I loved it. I heard she is writing spin-off novella about "umm" and "ummm" (don't want to spoil), a novella about Nate and Molly and also about Ravens life. Can't wait!

So good!!!!!

Really? Yay!
Ugghh!! Hate all that drama, not you guys, the review. If you don't like the book fine just say I didn't like it don't make a big dramatic production out of it. People GET ON MY NERVES!
Oh and isn't that Sylvia's man she has as her profile picture? How dare her! Maybe we need to bash her review, I mean it's obvious she thinks she is a writer and wants the attention.

Don't read any of my books.

Seriously they are so amazing. I expected them to be good, but they even exceeded those expectations lol

I loved the Darkness Rising series!!

then on to

then back to

The Archers of Avalon series is one of my favorites of all-time. I just love Chelsea Fine's writing, and I still miss the characters. I have to go back and every once in awhile and read my favorite scenes. And boy, I do love Tristan Archer. <3

Oh my gosh I can't imagine! I've been working to get a promotion so it's been eating into my reading time. It'll be worth it in the end, but I hate that it cuts into reading time. So I definitely feel your pain, although renovations sound even less fun lol

I can see where she was coming from in the review as well considering I absolutely hated Poison Princess, I thought it was god awful but she was pretty scathing much more than I'd be.

Mel,
I am also one who did not like Poison Princess. The reviewer was much more harsh than I was, and overdid it with the gifs, but to each his own.

Yep! Probably you guessed but by umm I meant (view spoiler) I would love to read about Molly!["br"]>["br"]>

Me too! I hope the third one is as good as the first two!

*sigh* it's hard not to love Tristan Archer! Yeah, Team Awesome got under my skin and I'm gonna miss them too. I hope it really gets picked up for TV-show.

I hope it does, too. That would be amazing!

Do you think it doesn't because of the content being taboo? Some people can't handle it I'm sure. I remember reading Flowers in the Attic when I was young and it just broke my heart.

Yeah and the saddest part is they were forced in those situations and it is human nature to love and have those feelings. If you are stuck on an island with someone you will fall in love with them, if stranded long enough. Either because of the lack of human contact or because they understand your feelings.

I love those books Laura! I remember feeling so sorry and sad for the older brother and sister. They had to endure things that adults couldn't handle.

Those books broke my heart too and the situation they were thrown into you could totally understand why they made the choices they did regarding how they took care if one another! I remember it didn't bother me at all and I was in my teens when I read that series

Yeah Laura, I know what you are saying and I feel the same way. I think it's wrong on many levels but I feel sorry for the kids that are put in those situations. It isn't in the stars to feel like that but sometimes they don't feel they have a choice. I just feel for people, especially kids that get put in situations that they can't handle or know how to handle. They don't know any better and after a while they don't know that there is anything different.

Tracy, I agree wholeheartedly. They were forced into that situation. Their home life was nothing but shit and they had to grow up fast and look after their younger siblings. They had no one to lean on for comfort or understanding but each other. So over the years, they realized there was more to their relationship than the usual brother-sister. They were best friends. And everything they went through was just heartbreaking. Having no role models or parents to teach them the proper ways of life didn't help their already f***ed up situation. To me it never felt wrong or sick or gross. It felt natural and sad and I really rooted for them. They're a favorite book couple (haha yeah crazy weird) but I love both of them. It's a powerful story, one that should be read at least once in a lifetime.
