Thanks for clarifying MrsJ.

Maggie (ceodraiocht) | 9 comments When thinking of a list of "top 100 fantasy books of all time" I'm going to nominate some I haven't seen listed as much as I'm thinking the repeated classics already mentioned will make it. The last two have magic, no dragons...:

message 138: by Janny (new)

Janny (jannywurts) | 181 comments In no particular order, and stressing books perhaps not mentioned, yet, that are gems:

Flesh and Spirit and Breath and Bone, which comprises Carol Berg's Lighthouse duology.

Those Who Hunt the Night by Barbara Hambly

The Tree of Swords and Jewels and its sequel, by C. J. Cherryh

The Death of the Necromancer by Martha Wells

A Sorcerer's Treason - Isavalta series by Sarah Zettel

Red Moon and Black Mountain by Joy Chant

Damiano's Lute - Damiano trilogy, by R. A. MacAvoy

And two other standalones by R. A. MacAvoy (I couldn't decide which of her titles to pick/so add one if need be?)
The Grey Horse
Tea With the Black Dragon

The Limbreth Gate - trilogy - Megan Lindholm (a.k.a. Robin Hobb)

The Gnome's Engine by Theresa Edgerton

The Dagger and the Cross by Judith Tarr

Ack - that's more than ten! But all these titles have great merit.

(I did not mention other favorites, since they've been put on the list already)

message 139: by Hettie (new)

Hettie | 1 comments Okay here is my nomination. I think that most of these have already been nominated but just in case.

Also a quick question. Do all the series set in the same universe get counted or do they need to be nominated seperately. So for example if the Belgariad is nominated does that include the Mallorean? Would Song of the Lioness include the Immortals? I think that would shrink the nomination list a bit.

The Belgariad Boxed Set
Guardians of the West (Mallorean series)
The Diamond Throne(Elenium series)
The Song of the Lioness Quartet
Wild Magic (Immortals series)
Arrows of the Queen (Heralds of Valdemar, Valdemar Universe)
So You Want to Be a Wizard (Young Wizards)
The Chronicles of Narnia
On a Pale Horse (Incarnations of immortality)

I am sure that I have missed something out!
