Nancy H | 1111 comments Hi Sue,
I'm over halfway through "Sex, Lies, and On-line Dating" and I'm really enjoying it. I hope to finish it today if things don't get too hectic around here today trying to clean my house and prepare desserts for company dropping by tonight. I'd rather just sit and read!!! Have you finished it yet? What do you think?

Warlord wants Forever is a fav, not as good as some of the others in Kresley Cole's series, but good :)

I finished Murder With Peacocks last night and The Negotiator today. They were both good choices. Thanks!

message 808: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Hi Nairabell

I finished a second rec (most unusual for me - I rarely get more than one rec in :) - Ill Wind (Weather Warden, #1) by Rachel Caine : audiobook. This started as a 4 star read with 5 star potential. I loved the djinn and weather concepts. But then my attention started to really wane by half way and I just wanted to get to the point of the story... Consequently it ended up 3 stars. But I did enjoy it - thanks for the rec and the push to read it :)

I finished it late Thursday night. I really did like the book! I had it figured out mid-way through, but that did not spoil my reading. How about you? Were you able to finish? I know what you mean about wanting to read rather than get ready for company. I've been put out a few times like that - but then always enjoyed having the company over. Okay, 90% of the time I've enjoyed the company!!

message 811: by Sana (new)

Sana (sanashams) Oops I totally forgot to write it up here.

I finished with Five Flavors of Dumb by Antony John and loved it! It surely is not mainstream contemporary YA fiction and that's what makes it such a great read.

Five Flavors of Dumb by Antony John

Thanks a lot, Vi for recommending it to me.

message 812: by Ana (new)

Ana | 72 comments I finished "The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie". The first half of the story was a 5 stars, the second half only a 3 stars, so I've rated the book a solid 4 stars.

message 813: by Cathy (new)

Cathy Galloway | 700 comments I finished Clockwork Angel and really enjoyed it! Now I have to wait until Dec when the next book comes out. Grrrrr I am not a patient person.

Next, I'm going to start Shiver. I know there are several books in that series already out, so I'll have my instant gratification:)

message 814: by Mslvoe (new)

Mslvoe I truly enjoyed Highland Warrior (Campbell Trilogy, #1) by Monica McCarty and I can't wait to get my hand on all her series.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments I finished City of Bones today. It was decent and I'll probably finish the trilogy. However it was very derivative. Still a good read.

Hi Sue, I just finished our buddy read "Sex, Lies, On-line Dating" and I really liked it. I'm glad we read it together. It's been sitting here on my TBR pile for a while and I'm glad I finally got to it. I love good mysteries and the romance thrown in was like the cherry on top of the sundae! (my favorite part!!)
I saw in the back of the book that there is another coming out or maybe already out featuring one of the characters in this one, so I will have to look for that one.

Thanks for being my "buddy-reader"!

message 819: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11344 comments Lauren - I just finished Double Play and thought it was great. That's no big surprise to me, since I tend to really enjoy the sports themed books and I also have liked everything I've read by Jill Shalvis. Thanks again for the great recommendations this month - hopefully I'll get through another one or two before the end of the month!

message 820: by Tuğçe (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) I have finished A Quick Bite and it was a fun but a very light read, some parts felt like a little forced to be a PNR with all those nano bio-techs and becoming vampires etc... Still a fun and fast read.

Wow! I'm amazed you got in 2! I've not even started mine and I only just saw this - I've been away on a no-tech retreat. It does drag a bit in the middle, but the next one's more level with tension throughout. Anyways, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

message 824: by Cathy (new)

Cathy Galloway | 700 comments I just finished Shiver and I LOVED it!
I have a couple to read for another challenge and then I'll try to fit in The Hunger Games before the month is over.

message 825: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 1099 comments Hi Shellebelle,

I realized that I read one of these a while ago but forgot to post - too busy moving on to the next book. :) Anyway, I read Magic Strikes the first week of September and loved it! I liked the series before but I thought this book really grabbed me emotionally in a way the others hadn't. Maybe it was all the backstory in this one. I've gone from liking the series to full on love for it.

And then earlier today I finished First Grave on the Right which was a very fun read and I'll definitely be checking out the second book.

So thanks for the great suggestions!

message 826: by Nancy H (new)

Nancy H | 1111 comments Hi Diane W.,
I just started "The Girl Who Played with Fire" today, and I have "Water for Elephants" and "The Book Thief" on deck for after that one. You had recommended books by Sarah Andrews and Deanna Raybourn and I have three by Andrews and two by Raybourn. I know that I am reading the Andrews ones sort of out of order, so is it okay if I just pick one of the ones I haven't read? Do you know which of the Deanna Rayburn books is first in the series? I have "Silent in the Sanctuary" and "Silent on the Moor" and I don't know if either of them comes before the title that you recommended.
I am going to finish all of your recommendations - I just don't know if I will get them all done by the end of the month, but I am going to try since they all sound so good.
Thanks again for such good choices!!

Stormy | 144 comments Michelle,

Just finished Dangerous Secrets, the second from your list of recommendations and I liked it much more that the Lora Leigh book. Lotsa law enforcement reads. I thought there was a lot of evil bad guy build-up for such a brief epiphany, but Nick was pretty dreamy and Charity was not TSTL. I thought it was interesting that this is book #2 in the series, but book #1 and book #2 have almost nothing in common. I'd read the next in the series.

Thanks for the recs!
