Nicole (nkb992) | 35 comments Still reading Jane Eyre and now am also reading Como agua para chocolate.

Sonja (crvena_sonja) | 78 comments Like Water for Chocolate, I like it. :)

I finished The Art of Racing in the Rain yesterday on the train home from work, gave it 4 *'s. I really liked the main character, Enzo, and I thought the perspective4 gave the story an interesting twist. There were a few parts of the story that were intensely painful for me to read though... so have some tissues handy if you intend to tackle this one.

For a lighter read, I started An Abundance of Katherines on the train in this morning.

Have I mentioned that my hour commute in and out on the train is the BEST ever? So much better than driving... especially in this area. :)

message 3153: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (itslindseyyoung) I'm currently reading Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers. I'm a pre-med nerd, so anything of this sort interests me. It's rich with medical history and full of humor. I'm really enjoying it.

Enrico Antiporda | 3 comments Allie and Zoltaire,
Thanks for the comment on The Band of Gypsies. And thanks for the reviews. I've been missing on Goodreads for a while, so was unable to give my appreciation. I did participate in the Goodreads giveaway and have ten signed copies until end of May.

message 3155: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I just finished Wither (Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano and I am now reading Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver .

message 3156: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I've read both of those, Sashana, and loved both.

message 3157: by Sashana (new)

Sashana It was interesting to see how Lauren DeStefano carried out topics like human and sex trafficking, polygamy, and unethical science in a YA book. I think she did it very tastefully and I'm anticipating the second novel. I've heard many great things about Before I Fall and I hope it lives up to the hype.

message 3158: by Christina Ann (new)

Christina Ann I'm reading The Day the Falls Stood Still for my book club.

message 3159: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments Finished...
Cloaked by Alex Flinn The Dead-Tossed Waves (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #2) by Carrie Ryan

The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner

message 3160: by Mercy (new)

Mercy | 4 comments Just finished Ender's Game and One Day. Pretty awesome, both of them. About to start...Reading for my finals!! Yay.

message 3161: by Kelly A. (new)

Kelly A. | 499 comments I'm in my typical end of the semester reading slump. Since I've been reading for classes and studying nonstop for the past week, reading books for pleasure is utterly unappealing. Currently, I'm partway through Queen By Right: A Novel, Great Expectations, Through a Glass Darkly, The Life of Elizabeth I, By Fire, By Water, and another one I forget. Not motivated at ALL!

message 3162: by Sonja (new)

Sonja (crvena_sonja) | 78 comments I finished An Abundance of Katherines this morning on the train in to work. I really enjoyed it as a light, up-lifting read. Now I'm just listening to The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie in an effort to stay awake at my desk. It's pretty good.

message 3163: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 308 comments Wither was very good I loved it!! I'm probably going to take a small break from reading. I have a lot of school work to get through :(

message 3164: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten I just read Acceptance: A Novel, which really has a pretty truthful ring to it, especially because I grew up in an affluent suburban school district. Parents weren't THAT bad, but there was definitely a lot of pressure on us.

message 3165: by Rayna (new)

Rayna (Poindextrix) (poindextrix) | 59 comments Carolina- I love Persuasion. I hope you do too!

I just started reading Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes: Millennium Approaches. I'm kind of doing it backwards — I usually read the book, then watch the movie, but since it's a play it isn't that different. I saw the movie a while ago and thought it was great, so now I'm actually reading it...

message 3166: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I just finished a book series I've been reading for about 5 months and the ending wasn't what I expected and it left me kinda down.

Anyone have some suggestions for a light, entertaining/absorbing read?

message 3167: by Joi (new)

Joi (missjoious) Finished Room and Maisie Dobbs and Homer's Odyssey.

Contemplating what to read next....

message 3172: by Sonja (new)

Sonja (crvena_sonja) | 78 comments I just finished The Gentle Axe and gave it 4 *'s.

message 3173: by Niel (new)

Niel | 390 comments I Finished the hunger games trilogy and thought it was great but Mockingjay just seemed to clash with how the series should have ended.

message 3174: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I finished If I Stay and Where She Went in two days. Loved them both. If I Stay left me in a bit of an emotional mess though. heh.

message 3175: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Just read Revival: The Struggle for Survival Inside the Obama White House...it was ok, but not Earth-shattering or anything. Currently working on finishing up the stack teetering on my coffee table...summer is upon me!

message 3176: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Carolina wrote: "Just finished The Great Gatsby. I'm not quite sure what I'll read next, I'm torn between The Picture of Dorian Gray and rereading Pride and Prejudice."

Definitely read Dorian Gray! It's one of my favourite books, I highly recommend it.

I just finished A Single Man, which I didn't care for very much. Now I'm reading Tess of the D'Urbervilles, which I'm really enjoying. I had a bit of a dry spell reading-wise -I read almost nothing for two weeks- but now I'm completely back into it. :)

message 3177: by Richard (new)

Richard (nemzep95) | 448 comments Finished With Their Eyes: September 11th--The View from a High School at Ground Zero by Annie Thoms a couple of days ago and am currently reading Over the Moon by Diane Daniels.

message 3178: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
Richard, you will have to tell me how Over the Moon is. It is set in a town a whole 20 miles away from me. :)

Nikki, I really liked Tess. Hope you continue to.

message 3179: by Rayna (new)

Rayna (Poindextrix) (poindextrix) | 59 comments I just started reading Mrs. Dalloway and I'm re-reading the Harry Potter books (again) before the final movie comes out.

I want to start brushing up on (or learning, as the case may be) my British/English history, but I don't really know where to start. Anyone have any suggestions?

message 3180: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
I just noticed I have almost read 50 books so far this year. Doesn't seem like that many. Wierd.

message 3181: by Kelly A. (new)

Kelly A. | 499 comments I'm about to start Rumors, the sequel to The Luxe. I've got mixed feelings about this one as the majority of the characters are majorly prickish, but I'm excited to see the continuation of the story.

message 3182: by [deleted user] (new)

I finished reading Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia

message 3184: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I'm reading The Name of the Wind.

message 3185: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments Last night I started reading Where She Went and I only have about 100 pages left to go. I had to force myself to put it down so I could sleep!

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Jen I loved Where She Went!

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
I started The Hunger Games again last night. Had nothing else that was catching my attention and I was forgetting parts people kept mentioning when talking about the movie.

message 3188: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments Kimberly - What do you think of The Name of the Wind? I read it last year and absolutely loved it!!

message 3189: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Daisy- I'm actually reading it because of your review of the second book you did for the BaB. I'm really enjoying it so far, though I've had so little time to read that I'm only about 50 pages into it.

message 3190: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Working my way through the Into the Wilderness series by Sara Donati. I just finished the second book in the series. Not as good as the first, but I expect they can't all be excellent. Especially if they are spending most of their time on a ship.

message 3191: by ~*I love Tea*~ (new)

~*I love Tea*~ | 124 comments I just started reading Inside Out, been meaning to read it, as I love Maria V Snyder. Hope its good

I just started Before I Die, I'm really enjoying it, even though I can't read more than 2-3 chapters in a row...
