I've seen the movie of Into the Wild. Very sad.

Merc (oswinssouffle) I just finished reading Jane Eyre.. the comic! I wanted to read the book but I didn't want to read the book. I had a bad experience with Jane Austenand was being wary of thee classic.

I'd give it a try anyway. I'm not a Jane Austen fan at all, but 'Jane Eyre' is one of my favourite books. You really can't compare the two. :)

Had no idea Maria Snyder was starting another series!! Thanks so much for the head's-up, Daisy — Touch of Power will be added to my TBR list :)

Go to her website and you can sign up for her newsletter. She sends out info about future books and she's also been writing a short story called "Ice Study" that is another story about Yelena.

message 3112: by Daisy (new)

Daisy | 686 comments I started The Wise Man's Fear!! I'm so excited! I hope it's worth the 1,5 year wait.

message 3113: by Kelly (last edited Mar 12, 2011 02:14PM) (new)

Kelly | 308 comments I finished Delirium today, and I wasn't really impressed by it. It had its good moments, but mostly I was just bored with it. I started Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly and im liking it so far. I'm about 40pages in.

message 3114: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Kelly, I just finished Delirium too and I was disappointed. I'm currently writing a review.

message 3115: by Anika (new)

Anika (anlynn) | 106 comments Yayy for Emily and Nullifidian for starting Jane Eyre!! I love that book, hope you guys do too. What do you think so far?

I am reading Mansfield Park, part of my attempt to read all of Jane Austen's novels. Based on reviews that I've read, it is definitely not one of her most well-liked novels. I'm only 100 pages in, so I don't want to make any judgements yet, but its definitely slower than her other novels that I've read (which is all of them except Northanger Abbey).

message 3116: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nkb992) | 35 comments I, too, am reading Jane Eyre right now and have Delirium next up. I got it as an ARC so I feel obligated to read it. I'm curious anyway.

message 3117: by Wanderer (new)

Wanderer (teha) i just finished The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray and started Across the Universe Berth Revis

message 3118: by Lauren (last edited Mar 14, 2011 02:39PM) (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments I've finished both Wake and Fade by Lisa McMann and I'm waiting to get the last one in that series from the library now. I also finished Life As We Knew It by Susan Pfeffer and I loved it! Now I'm reading the second book is Pfeffer's series, The Dead and the Gone. I'm also reading Inside Out by Maria Snyder and Chains by Laurie Anderson.

message 3119: by Sonja (last edited Mar 14, 2011 10:48PM) (new)

Sonja (crvena_sonja) | 78 comments R, I watched a bunch of the series in one bout of insomnia... and I quite enjoyed them as well. I really like the books and I think they're funny amusing in the same way that the TV series is. I really like the insight into Sharpe's thinking and the way the military worked at the time which is supposed to be scarily accurate... I would highly recommend the books if you liked the TV series. I'm probably going to start Sharpe's Gold once I finish The Maltese Falcon.

Definitely let me know what you think of the books OR if you want to do a buddy read or something for any particular one or the series in general.

message 3120: by Sonja (last edited Mar 20, 2011 11:03AM) (new)

Sonja (crvena_sonja) | 78 comments I finished The Maltese Falcon which wasn't as good as I was hoping/expecting. Now I'm reading Flashman which is alternately pretty amusing and kinda painful.

message 3122: by Rayna (new)

Rayna (Poindextrix) (poindextrix) | 59 comments I'm mostly reading Franny and Zooey right now. I can't really decide what I think of it right now. The characters don't thrill me, but there's something that makes me want to keep reading (besides me compulsive need to finish every book I start). I guess I'll decide once I finish it.

I finished my latest Giveaways win, and decided to finally pick up The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy. So far, it is just okay. Only about 100 pages in.

message 3124: by Kelly A. (new)

Kelly A. | 499 comments I started A Child Called "It" last night....it's so depressing..

message 3125: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Kelly, I read that in Jr. High. Very sad book.

message 3126: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nkb992) | 35 comments Nullifidian, I just discovered the A Very Short Introduction series a couple weeks ago. I bought Spanish Literature. I've only just started it but I'm really enjoying it. It seems like a great series and I will most likely be reading more of them.

message 3127: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 604 comments I just finished Nightshade and I loved it. I wasn't too sure about it for the first 100 pages or so, but it picked up 1/3 of the way through and then I couldn't put it down.

I planned on reading Perfume: The Story of a Murderer next, but I was still in such a PNR Young Adult mood after Nightshade that I went to the library and checked out Vampire Academy instead. It's my first time reading this series and I'm liking it so far.

message 3128: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Finishing up Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell, and Know...kind of disappointed. Not nearly what I thought it would be.

I put aside Hitchikers Guide to start my latest goodreads win Power Play by Mark Murray. It seems pretty short, but I am only about 20 pages in. So far so good.

message 3130: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I'm reading Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely, #1) by Melissa Marr and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen .

message 3131: by Kelly (new)

Yay! I need to get to it soon, it sounds so good! I love it when books get stuck in your head :)

I finished Sleeping Beauty: Vampire Slayer this morning, it was really good!

I finished Power Play, started and finished Fablehaven and started Tower of Change this weekend.

message 3134: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Tami, what did you think of Fablehaven?

message 3135: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
I liked it, not one I absolutely loved and will have to reread again and again and again. I rank it along with the Artemis Fowls. It was fun and really quick to read. I will read the rest of the series though.

message 3136: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments Make sure you do. Each book gets progressively better. I really really enjoyed the last one especially. It was so sucked into the book it didn't leave my hand for two days.

message 3137: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
I was told I read it too fast. :)

I have so many other books I want to get read next, I am really having issues sticking to just one. I never have that problem. I have now started 3 which is totally unlike me.

message 3138: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments I just finished Stolen by Lucy Christopher and Kindred by Tammar Stein. I gave Kindred only 2 stars, but Stolen.. wow. I gave it 5 stars!! Now I'm starting on The Silent Boy by Lois Lowry and The Knife of Never Letting Go.

message 3139: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments I just finished the second book in the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, The Well of Ascension. It was fantastic!

I finished The Silver Boat by Luanne Rice and started The Insider by Reece Hirsch.
Silver was good, but I really disliked the one sister. Not far enough into Insider to have an opinion yet.

message 3141: by Kelly A. (new)

Kelly A. | 499 comments Just finished my reread of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - still just as good! Can't wait for the movie.

message 3142: by Niel (new)

Niel | 390 comments i finished reading maximum ride 2, last apprentice 5-7, and beastly now i am finishing sahara by clive cussler.

message 3143: by Zoltaire (new)

Zoltaire | 3 comments I was in the mood for another YA novel so I downloaded The Night Watchman Express from Kindle. A surprisingly good book. Very fast-paced. It kind of reminded me of Chitra Banerjee Divakurini's YA novel, The Conch Bearer which I read and reviewed a month ago.

message 3144: by Alison (new)

Alison DeLuca | 5 comments I just finished reading The Band of Gypsies by Enrico Antiporda. It's a touching love story about university students from different countries who went to Spain on foreign internships and got mixed up in the Spanish-Basque struggle. It really reminded me of my summer abroad in Spain.

I loved Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and I loved this book.

message 3145: by Zoltaire (new)

Zoltaire | 3 comments Here's another "unheard of" book I read recently, a historical called The Physician by Noah Gordon. It's set in 11th century England and travels all the way to Eastern Europe and the Middle East. It's written by the same author who wrote the bestseller "Shaman" and "The Last Jew."

Allie, I read band of gypsies too a couple of months back. I wouldn't compare it to Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Well, maybe a little. I thought it was more like that movie, L'auberge espagnole. Good book. I enjoyed it a lot. Have you read Water for Elephants yet? If not, try it.

message 3147: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey I just finished Unbearable Lightness and started Scar Tissue.

message 3148: by Rayna (new)

message 3149: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments Just finished Beastly by Alex Flinn and Grace by Elizabeth Scott. Review is up for Grace, but not Beastly yet. Now I'm reading Cloaked and The Knife of Never Letting Go!! I have such a huge TBR pile, I just can't choose what to read next!!!
