I was talking about Magic Bites. I haven't read the other book. Sorry if it was confusing.

Christine | 752 comments I read Mercy Thompson Homecoming by Patricia Briggs and have decided that graphic novels really aren't my thing. But it was neat to get the background of how Mercy came to work at Zee's and meet Stephan and Adam.

I just started The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern , but I'm not yet far enough in to have an opinion of it.

I just read that book and I know what you mean. I didn't think I'd like it at all when I first started, but in the end I enjoyed it. Although some aspects of the story were almost depressing.

I have Street Magic on my TBR pile. I liked the author's other series and was hoping that this one would be good to.

Debbie (httpgoodreadscomdebilooskadoo) I'm currently reading Dying Bites (The Bloodhound Files, #1) by D.D. Barant and A Storm of Swords Steel and Snow (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3 part 1) by George R.R. Martin . I am thoroughly engrossed in GRRM's series and I really am liking Dying Bites. It's quirky and the main character annoys me sometimes but she's likable in an odd sort of way.

I actually didn't care too much for Dying Bites, but I had already bought the first three in the series based upon someone's recommendation. So I kept reading and found that this is one of those series that has grown on me a little more with each book.

Lily (lilithesque) | 84 comments I am currently reading The Empress of Mars and Frail. Both seem good so far.

The Empress of Mars by Kage Baker Frail (Dust, #2) by Joan Frances Turner .

I am so glad to hear this! I just finished Dying Bites yesterday and I wasn't in love with it. I have heard so many good things about this series but wasn't sure if I would continue after the first one. Now I think I will stick it out and give the next book a try.

The series has grown on me, but it's still not a favorite. But I have a habit of getting attached to the characters and wanting to see what happens to them next, even if the writing isn't the greatest. And I do like the different take on the world population in this series.

message 367: by Laura (new)

Laura Carson (laurarcarson) Just finished up Claws and Effect A Diaries of an Urban Panther Novel by Amanda Arista short of some editing issues it's just as good as the first one and I highly reccomend it. I don't understand why these books are author aren't getting more attention. Definatley a TBR for any fans of Rachel Vincent's Shifters series! First book is Diaries of an Urban Panther by Amanda Arista
Now working on Dirty Deeds by Lorelei James The Shadow Reader (McKenzie Lewis #1) by Sandy Williams

Paula (pauldajo) I am reading Halfway to the Grave which I may not finish and The Space Between which I am enjoying.

message 370: by Christine (new)

Christine | 752 comments I finished The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and just adored it. It's not fast-paced and action packed, but I enjoyed the writing style and the way the story gradually unfolded.

I just started Adam (Nightwalkers, #6) by Jacquelyn Frank and I'm not sure I'm buying the set up for the book. I have a hard time believing that the Nightwalkers just fell apart after the tragic events at the beginning of the book.

You know, it took me a while to get into Halfway to the Grave, too. I almost put it down about a 1/3 of the way through, and then it picked up and I did enjoy it, but I haven't raced out and bought the second one yet. Maybe someday.

I finished 'Halfway to the Grave'. There were sections of the book that I enjoyed, but also I did a bit of skimming. Like you Marsha, I'm not rushing out to buy the 2nd book. Maybe later, after I get my to-be-read pile under control.

message 394: by Christine (new)

Christine | 752 comments I'm actually really enjoying A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole , even though the guy is a total jerk at the beginning and the girl is a timid little mouse who just goes along with him and it's the sort of story that usually makes me roll my eyes. But there is just something about it that has sucked me in. I may have finally found another new favorite PNR series.

Sorry. I haven't actually read the story in On the Prowl, so I just assumed it had to do with her Lupi series. And I thought I've seen it listed on her website as part of the series. Is it maybe a spin-off but with different characters?
