Kerri I'm in the YLTO group and only stumbled on this group thanks to the book Youcurrently being read. I've only just discovered it and plan to read it very soon. I used to love Stephen King and read all his older books as a teenager. I still have most of them in my bookshelves all these years later. They might fall apart if I took them down now, but I can't part with them. I stopped reading for a few years and somehow never got back to Stephen King when I took it up again. Though I have read some of his recent releases and plan to go back to any of his older stuff I've missed over the years.

Hey Kerri! Good to see you here! I hope you get in more Stephen King books and also that you join in our Group Read discussions.

Nadine Lucas | 9 comments Hi everyone! I am new here, having read a novel Stephen King gave a plug to (The Troop by Nick Cutter). I stumbled upon this group when I did a search to try to find other books King recommends. The Troop incidentally is a fantastic read for fans of horror fiction, gruesome but great. Love King too of course. Wishing everyone happy reading out there.

Janice (jamasc) | 801 comments Welcome Nadine. I believe we recently did a group read of The Troop so you may be interested in reading the discussion.

Nadine Lucas | 9 comments Thank you Janice! I'll do just that.

Always willing to welcome a new member, Nadine. Janice had a good suggestion about you checking out The Troop's group read discussion. We'd be interested in hearing your take on it.

message 458: by Nadine (new)

Nadine Lucas | 9 comments Hi Debra - will do. I'd be interested to see how readers fared with The Troop. There were some devastating and hard to read scenes in there.

message 459: by Jonathan Roy (new)

Jonathan Roy Shores (jonshores) | 1 comments thinks that Mr. King is a master craftsman, who knows great writing when he sees it. I have given many of his favorite authors a spin... and have seldom found them lacking. The favorite authors of my favorite authors is always a nice place to start the quest for my next best book.

Jonathan, excellent points. Welcome to the group!

message 462: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I have been reading Stephen King since I was a child. I think I've written everything he's ever written. Many, many times!

One of the best memories of my life was seeing his last performance with The Rock Bottom Remainders and then (sort of) meeting him after. I actually breathed air he had also breathed!

message 463: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 801 comments Glad to see you here, Kandice.

message 464: by Kim (new)

Kim Kaso | 24 comments Hi,
I really like the sound of this group, as I have looked out for SK's book recommendations the past several years, and having a group of people who are as interested as I am sounds like a group I want to join. How does 1 do that?

message 465: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 801 comments Hi Kim. It looks like you have successfully joined. Welcome. We vote on the books that we're going to read and discuss together. Currently, we're reading Horns by Joe Hill.

message 466: by William (new)

William Harvey | 4 comments Hi everyone--I've read most of Stephen King's novels. I've loved most, hated some, and been ambivalent about many. However, the books he's suggested I've nearly all loved. The last one I read that he liked was A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay. Do yourself a favor and read it. Terrific!!!

My name is Will Harvey and I'm a physician in San Francisco. I try to read well reviewed lit of all types but my true love is horror and thrillers. Was an English major in college so I read a lot of things I respect if not always enjoy. Very open minded about all genres. Look forward to joining you all!

Missy | 128 comments I agree about Headful of Ghosts, William. I just recently finished it too. A great read.

Welcome to Don and Karina! I've enjoyed every SK book I've read, but then I'm a hard-core fan. However, my favorite of all is the Dark Tower series. It's his magnum opus. It took years of waiting and nail-biting, but he finally came through after his accident and finished the series.

I hope all you newbies can come and join in on our group reads. We are currently reading A Head Full of Ghosts for the months of November thru December.

Kristina Masset (kristinalynn11) | 1 comments Hi, my name is Kristina and I'm from Co, USA. My mom is a huge fan of SK and got me hooked. I've been busy the passed couple of years putting my life together but I've been finishing up some other books so I can start reading a lot more of SK. One of the books I just finished was Doctor Sleep. And I really enjoyed it. Next I plan on reading Mile 81 because it was the second SK book I have on my kindle aside from Doctor Sleep. My other favorites I have read are on my bookshelf waiting to be rad again!

Reddreaddit | 1 comments Hi guys!
I'm Anni, currently studying social studies in Germany, am 24yo and since last year consider myself a newbie to the SK universe.
So far I read 'The Eyes of the Dragon', 'Carrie', 'Mr. Mercedes', 'Finders Keepers', 'Revival', 'Joyland', 'Misery', 'The Shining' and 'Cell'.
What got me to join this group? Curiosity about what inspires SK and inspiration for myself.
Cheers!

Sarah McMullan (sarahmcmullannz) | 1 comments Hi I'm Sarah,

My first SK was Cujo. I chose it because of the dog on the cover. I was 6. I never looked back. 34 years later he's still one of my fave authors and I'm proud to say I own most of his novels and short stories. (He has his own bookshelf.) Never got into his Bachman stuff though.
Have really enjoyed reading my way through his recommendations - found a lot of great thriller/horror writers that way. Not so big on the war/baseball stuff but that's me.

I'm in NZ. I'm a journalist and film reviewer, and I also work in Film PR & Publicity. I'm currently producing my first short film.

What scares me? People. They're the most fascinating and terrifying things in existence. (And clowns. And spiders. And ducks in groups on land away from water.)

Ingrid Foster (ingridfosterauthor) | 1 comments Hi I'm Ingrid and I love Stephen King's characters. I know that may sound strange, but for me, it's always well-developed characters that make the story and King's characters are always so real. I actually cried at the end of It. Thanks for creating this group, I'm always on the lookout for my next thrilling read!
