I'm also a JP fan. I'm reading Maximum Ride and I was thinking of getting his new book Toys.
About people being obsessed with this series (I'm not one of those people. I just think the books are good), I have to admit its pretty original, has good humor and the plot hardly ever drags.

message 171: by Jordan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jordan Ok i get that anna lee likes more adult books... i sometimes do too. but these books are just delightful and fun!

Jacob Because it's awesome!

message 174: by Janet (new) - rated it 3 stars

Janet Because they're kids! If a 5th grader reads them, he is gaining practice and meeting mythological characters he will enjoy learning about in later literature classes. I'm not sure they are written to make the must-read list for the college-bound high-schooler.

message 175: by Jordan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jordan I still LOVE THIS SERIES!

C Sara-Sadiya, will you please type properly? I mean really, you have a full keyboard, it doesn't take that much effort to type out the few extra letters.

There is really no need to insult her for typing in a way that is more convenient for her.

Aileen because its awesome.

message 195: by Sofie (new) - rated it 1 star

Sofie I read the first book, and I really did not like it. I thought it was poorly done in just about every way. I found it unoriginal, unbelievable, annoying, and not at all fun to read. I understand the appeal, and it's good that it's getting that demographic reading, but it's not something I'd recommend or read more of.
There are children's fantasy books I enjoy, and there are many that I find believable and very entertaining.
I much preferred Anne Ursu's take on the idea. It is a little annoying at times, but it's fun for the most part.

I liked Anne Ursu's books too, but I still love Percy Jackson

message 199: by Amel (new) - rated it 1 star

Amel i hate it

message 200: by Ivy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ivy I read the first book and it was like pulling teeth to finish it...there just wasn't enough in it to make me want to read any more books in the series....I then watched the movie with my grandson and it wasn't much better but have to say that seeing the visual of the action was better then reading it although there were parts that just didn't seem to fit into the story.
