Cupcake Bookworm sadly
this movie is so bad it makes people swear
if only the directors and people invovled in it saw this
their ego might, just might go down

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ I heard for the second movie ((yeah they're making the next one)) that comes out in 2013 they're changing directors. Although most of it is destroyed plot wise they could keep some stuff the same from the second book. ((as in what happens and stuff))

Clara uh-huh.

message 555: by Denise (new) - rated it 5 stars

Denise I loved Riordan's writing style, to be honest. He does an amazing job with all the action scenes, and the character interation is wonderful. I've read The Hunger Games, and the Mortal Instrument series, but I love Percy Jackson the most. The Heros of Olympus series is even better.

always

johanna (jo) Haha you got a LOT of responses to this :). I think the series is one of the best I've ever read, it's exciting and awesome, you get to know the character and it made me laugh out loud. But different people prefer different types of books. Have you tried the Heroes of Olympus?

message 567: by Megan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Megan I wonder, do you like much children's literature? I love books for all different age groups, but most of my favorites are children's books. I think you have to be able to tap into your inner child to like Percy Jackson, and since your only fourteen I would think it would be easy for you! I love Percy Jackson! Its funny and exciting, but also has fantastic plot and characterization and always contains a good lesson.

They were EPIC! I can't believe anyone could hate them! Maybe it's cause I love Greek myths or whatever, but I LOVED Percy Jackson! Sure, the Last Olympian was kinda boring but- wait. Did you even read the Heroes of Olympus? The Lost Hero- EPICLY AWESOME AND AWESOMELY EPIC!

I'm glad someone else says awesomely epic. ;)

I totally agree and I think a lot of people do!!!!!!!!!

Hayley Barton I really like this book because its about greek mythology which has always interested me. I find it facinating, but this was just a modern take on greek mythology which i thought was cool.

Same here! I watched the movie first, and then I re-watched it yesterday and couldn't get past the Nashville scene. Anyway, the other books are better too. And what do you mean, you did the 1st book? That doesn't make sense! Sorry for being an overcontrolling grammar-corrector but... Anyway- THE TITAN'S CURSE AND BATTLE OF THE LABRINTH ROCK!

I say waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay weirder things. I prefer to say 'sides instead of besides. And yes, I LOVE the phrase 'awesomely epic'.

Shelly I loved the book because of the suspense and action

message 577: by Betsy (last edited Oct 27, 2012 01:30PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Betsy I loved the first book Lightening Thief.Riordan used the voice of a middle school student extradordinarily well. His ability to do this made sense when I discovered that he is, or had been (now for sure, I'd think) a English Middle School Teacher. The secondary interest for me was the the Greek myths aspect.By the time I read the The Red Pyramid ,with the less familiar Eygptian myths, and the kids were brilliant pretentiously wealthy, kids,my "love-affair" with Riordan as a writer was over. His adult detective novels had a cocky, slightly amusing guy as the main character that were fun to read for awhile. Then I decided that this character was Riordan's alter-ego and he was really something of an "***"
So unless I read a really interesting blurb on book cover,I probably won't be reading any more Riordan for awhile. Books for me are character driven, and the most important reason for me to continue reading a book.I have to relate to the character or at least know someone very much like the main character,or I lose interest in the book. Riordan's Lightening Thief was "awesomely epic" just like the characters.

Leah These books helped me pass my World History exam. There was a whole section about Greek Mythology.

Christine His books, although informative and really awesome, can get boring after awhile. Overall though, I do love his books.
