Hi Meg!! Welcome to the Creative Reviews Group! You are going to love it around here! We are all a wacky bunch!
You most certainly can ask for reviews here! Its the best place to come. Be sure to post links to your books too...that way we can all check them out! I hope you enjoy the group and it is so great to see you!

Thanks.
Is it best to offer the books and see who wants to review them, or to approach reviewers looking to review in my genres?"

Jan-
you can do it both ways!!! I would make sure you put it out here with a link for everyone. But, if you are looking through our reviews and you see a reviewer's style that you like I would suggest sending them a message and asking. We are all super friendly around here so you'll probably get a bunch of YES'!!!
Great to see you around here. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask!! :)

I know Cassie answered but I wanted to answer too. :) I like to talk. LOL.
I think most everyone will take a PDF. We all understand how expensive shipping rates and all those little nagging fees! Whenever you get a request or you ask someone for a review just be sure to tell them it is a PDF. I think i have only seen mention once or twice on here that they prefer only print books. Most people are grateful you take the time to ask them and they enjoy getting free reads!!!

Hi Julia! Welcome to the group! I love seeing new faces. If you would like a review all you have to do is post it up here and ask!! :) Be sure to post a link to your book so we can all see what great book you have to share. If you would like reviews for your upcoming book just post those as well. If you don't have links for those yet just tell us what the book is about or post a short synopsis. Sometimes it helps to if you let everyone know what formats you have available for review. Also, if you are poking around in the group and you see a certain reviewers style that you enjoy send them a message and just ask for the review. We are all really friendly around here and love to read!! Hope this helps!

Rebecca Burke | 17 comments Hi--I'd love to have reviewers in your group check out my YA crossover novel, When I Am Singing to You. Here's the synopsis:

When I Am Singing to You
50690 words.

Fourteen-year-old Carmen Delgada, the daughter of migrant workers, ends up living with other homeless teens at an urban YWCA after her jealous mother kicks her out of the house. When Carmen learns that her new friend Hazel is pregnant, she vows to help her—a decision that results in tragedy and a scandal for the Y.

Email me at ramburke at yahoo.com and I can send you the code for a review copy from Smashwords. Thanks!

Deb Simpson (debisimp) | 3 comments Hi Everyone! I enjoy reading a good book and giving reviews to the author! I know how important that is because I too am an author seeking reviews!

I accept novel of mystery or suspense, poetry collections, biographies and memoirs. I am not a fantasy/sci-fi reviewer-sorry! I prefer PDF or printed books. Please see my website or email me me for more info!

My book One Moment, One Memory, One Motion is a poetic memoir available for review. It is a powerful story-in poetic form-of a childhood begun in innocence, but followed by the trauma of sexual abuse, parental mental illness, and more--but the hope is always present and the recovery complete and inspirational. My grandmother gave me precious moments and memories that sustained me through the abuse and led me to recovery. www.DebSimpsonBooks.com

Jenn (greeneyez2012) Hey all!
I am currently available to review any paranormal books (except shifters, not a fan, sorry).
I am a speed reader and usually go through 3 books a week.
The only thing is that they have to be in ebook format for my cell because that is the only way I can currently read as I am always on the go.
I will give my honest opinion and will never bash anyone or their hard work because I know just how hard it is to put yourself out there. I also consider myself a free promoter for you because I LOVE to "push" books that I enjoyed to my friends and family.
If you are interested, just let me know!

Hey Elle!
Well I really do miss the feel of actual books and looking at my huge collection in my bookcase but I have a very grabby one year old who won't lead me read actual books any longer but he will let me have my phone ;). So I read my books while he sleeps or while on breaks at work.
I do like the premise of your book and would love to check it out for you.
Since it is a short story, I could probably read it on my lap top at night.
Anything longer I would have to be able to download it on my phone.
Feel free to contact me at greeneyez2012@gmail.com or you can always do it on here.
I'm new to this whole process so I don't know exactly how you would be able to get this book to me unless you forwarded something to my email.....

message 79: by M Todd (new)

M Todd Gallowglas (mgallowglas) I'm looking for reviews for the first novel in my fantasy series Tears of Rage

First Chosen (Tears of Rage) by M. Todd Gallowglas First Chosen

“This is really great stuff! The characters seem real, three dimensional people, not typical fantasy types.” - James Rollins, Author of THE DEVIL COLONY and MAP OF BONES.

FIRST CHOSEN is the story of Julianna, a noble from the conquered kingdom of Koma. In her moment of greatest need, she frees an ancient god, Grandfather Shadow, from his thousand-year prison. In his gratitude, the god names her his high priest and commands Julianna to lead his people to greatness once again. Unfortunately for Julianna, it is a capital crime for any of her people to worship one of the five ancient gods. While evading Inquisitors of All Father Sun and the followers of the god of death, Julianna must learn to use the vast power that Grandfather Shadow has given her in order to survive long enough to unite Grandfather Shadow's fractured people.

And so begins, TEARS OF RAGE a dark, epic fantasy about the power of faith and belief, where even though the gods can inspire these qualities in mortals, it is those same mortals that truly control the religions that form from any god’s divine inspiration. It is also a swashbuckling tale of political intrigue where men scheme against each other and the gods, and how friendship, loyalty, and faith can help people persevere through the darkest times.

M. Todd Gallowglas is a professional storyteller at Renaissance Faires and frequent fiction contributor for Fantasy Flight Games.

Reviewers usually don't take money for their services, otherwise the author wouldn't know whether it was truly the reviewer's opinion or not :)

I've had my book on the Amazon Kindle site since June now! I also have a couple of people reviewing it which is brilliant! More would be good!

Mr Memory

I can let people have a copy for reviewing, let me see some of your recent reviews (need to get my armour on just in case you don't like and you are good at throwing things)...

Anyway I am a Fantasy/Humour/Quirky/Dark Humor/Far Fetched writer... if that is your thing (and I know I have some very good writers to live up to) then get back to me.

You may also want to pop along to my blog:

You didn't keep any copies for yourself? Most do; or at least get a discount through their publisher, I could think (??) Also, once you get your stuff converted to e-books, that will save you significantly. Final alternative - I've had a couple people send me a Word .doc - their final version, I guess - to read/review, so that's an option, too.

Germaine Shames (germaineshames) | 38 comments Greetings, all. I am new to the group, a well-reviewed author, and have been hovering on the fringe thinking of what I have to share. I believe book reviewers are under-appreciated and would like to redress that. Here goes...

An Author’s Love Letter to Reviewers

1) Writers are the most solitary people on earth. Day after day they face the blinking cursor alone, often without receiving feedback or positive reinforcement for months at a stretch. YOU provide that.

2) No matter how accomplished an author becomes, with each new work the question arises, Can readers connect to my characters and relate to their stories? Will they care? YOU answer the question.

3) The odds are against authors earning a livelihood. Books, whether traditionally or indie-published, are hard to sell—imagine having to sell tens of thousands just to pay the rent. YOU get the word out and help writers keep writing.

4) Every author has been burned once or twice by a scathing or ego-laden review. In my experience, however, the great majority of reviewers have read my work deeply and reviewed it generously. YOU give. YOU matter. This author is so grateful for your contribution.

You are not - I also appreciate your understanding, Germaine - I know those of us on Goodreads who provide reviews often see ourselves as trying to help the authors for whom we review books - and mostly those authors appreciate it. I've actually had a couple contact me to help with editing in future books because of things I've pointed out in their current books. We're fortunate in that the vast majority of people here are great.
