Dresden Files Specific Discussion- favorite secondary characters and villains (avoid spoilers please)
No love for Lara Raith? She's one of my fave... sorta villain/secondary characters. Also adore Thomas. Does he count as a main or secondary character?
I really like Kincaid a lot. He was the first person to come to mind. I also love Thomas, Marcone, Michael, and Butters.
I know I am cliche, but I like Murphy. she is short but fierce, like myself. Mouse b/c he is a very smart dog and respects his elder ie Mister. After her Queen Mab b/c I always liked the name Mab. I just realized I am all about the M's.

I'm always hopin..."
I agree that is a very good story. I read some where that he also did a story with Marcone P.O.V. it is in an anthology but that is all I know.
Ok if we're going with favorite...I have to go with Toot. I know he's not a big character - but he's always there when Dresden is in a pinch. I really enjoy Thomas - and some of the stories with him in Side Jobs are great. He's got a really interesting morality and code of ethics that I find intriguing.
One thing about Jim Butcher is that he's got a gift for creating an interesting supporting cast. Also, he's good at indexing the gray scale that runs between pure good (like Michael) and pure evil.
as far as villains go, i thought the skinwalker was the most frightening. the Raith family as a whole (minus Thomas) is always crazy but for some reason do not make me quite an unnerved. as far as secondaries go, i find myself liking Gard more and more....even if she does work for someone else.
Does Mouse count? If so he is my favorite secondary character. For villain I would have to go with Cowl, while we haven't seen much of him I like that fact that we he is operating behind the scenes.
David wrote: "Does Mouse count? If so he is my favorite secondary character."YEEEAAAAHHH, Mouse is awesome. :D
Debbie wrote: "I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Bob. He, Mouse and Murphy are my faves."Pretty sure Mouse and Bob are the only ones with their heads on straight. Hah. Bob's head.
Travis wrote: "I'd like to see more of the dragon guy from Grave Peril. I forgot his name."
That was Ferrovax, iirc
Wow it's so hard to pick! My favorites are Mouse-what's not to love about him; Bob-for all his wisecracking and being obsessed about women period; McCoy-he's just downright cranky; and Carlos-for his no punches attitude.
Gentleman Johnny Marcone is my favorite villain. As for supporting cast I have to give it up for the Knights of the Cross. All of them: past, present and those who have been given a job offer, because face it Karin Murphy is by far the most interesting woman to enter this series, bar none.
Although you can't forget Bianca either as a secondary character. She may have been a vampire but she always seemed to get what she wanted too.
In terms of favorite characters i'd have to go with Molly and Ivy. I do love how Butcher will introduce a minor character in one book only to have them become more and more important later on - molly and Thomas are the two who immediately come to mind.
That's very true and I would have to agree with you about that as well. Molly and Thomas have become stronger character's even though they appear as secondary. The same argument could be made for the Alphas as well.
There are so many to choose from, but my favorite secondary characters, the ones that always make me squee when they show up are Butters and Morgan. I know Morgan can be a jerk but the more you get to know him, the more layers he has and I love those type of characters. Butters is just awesome, if you've read Dead Beat then you know how awesome he is.
My favourite other than Harry is Lash. I really hope Butcher brings her back as she was a gem!
My choice for evil secondary character would have to be Nicodumus(sp)of the Black Denerians probably because he makes Macrone look like saint.
Bob and Waldo are easily my favourite characters. Waldo is pretty great from a pure comic relief standpoint and Bob is hilarious and awesome in every possible way. But that said, the most interested characters are probably Lasciel('s shadow) and The Gatekeeper. I was pretty disappointed when the Lasciel story-arc ended, and the Gatekeeper is just too mysterious not to like!
Steve wrote: "and the Gatekeeper is just too mysterious not to like!..."I like pondering Gatekeeper too.
Gatekeeper is a very unusual character that is very quiet and reserved out of the many character's we meet in the Dresden File books.
I just wanted to add to this discussion that there is a Goodreads books group for the Dresden Files. I'm not the moderator for it or anything, but I am a member and it's a fun place to go if you want to engage in some more chatting about the books.http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/2...

YES!
I would have to say that it is a tie between Toot and his talking about the ZA lord and Bob and all his sexual inuendos. They are both awsome.
fav. character? : I have to say Karrin Murphy. She's good people. i would want her watching my back.
villain?: probably Lara Wraith. Sexy,smart,ruthless....dangerous combo.
villain?: probably Lara Wraith. Sexy,smart,ruthless....dangerous combo.
Favorite Main Character Other Than Harry: Molly CarpenterFavorite Secondary Character(s): Mouse and Mister.
And you just can't help loving Butters, am I right?
Favorite Villain(?): Not sure if she actually qualifies as a villain, but my pick would be Lash.
I like Grandpa McCoy. Villian - Hmmmm. She only appeared in a novella, but I thought Constance Bushnell (Drulinda) was pretty interesting (Thomas' birthday story).
Mavra, the Black Court Vampire is a villain,I mean the dead won't stay dead. There is Cowl, I expect he will be back and Shagnasty (the tv show didn't do it justice.)
Geoffrey wrote: "*SPOILER*Bob is awesome and until his demise, I enjoyed Morgan quite a bit"
I agree Morgan was an interesting character and Turncoat was a great with him in it.
Geoffrey wrote: "*SPOILER*Bob is awesome and until his demise, I enjoyed Morgan quite a bit"
What demise? We won't find out what actually happened to Bob until the next book is released, and I seriously doubt Butcher is planning on killing him off.

I don't think he means Bob but Morgan in this instant.
Murphy. Got to love Murphy. Kicks arse all the time, clings to her common sense and generally rocks. Also Mouse of course
Travis wrote: "I'd like to see more of the dragon guy from Grave Peril. I forgot his name."Grapevine news on the dragon that made a brief appearance in human guise - I heard he wasn't going to show up again until the apolcopyptic trilogy at the end of the series.

The dragon guys name is Ferrovax: I remember b/c I thought it was a school name.
Definately Butters! And Bob; you can't not love Bob, lol. :D Butters is fantastic and amazing. He doesn't pretend to be brave or a hero or anything, but if he sees that something needs done he'll man-up with a whimper. POLKA NEVER DIES!!! :D

Probably my favorite villain is Nikodamus (The Denerian)
