You may go through the various threads and jump into discussions. Everything is pretty informal here

I have joined now, cannot express my delight in seeing so many of my fellow earthlings belonging to a particular latitude & Longitude here :)
Let me cruise through the threads before coming back with suggestion (if needed)

Do you mean discussions?
We have them!
This to chat: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
This to talk about the books we have read or are reading: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
And somewhere there is a promotion folder for writers to see what books they write but I can't find it. I hope someone else can help you.
Btw, we have a lot of discussions going on.
edit: I found it! https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

My profile pic? It is a painting by Salvador Dalì: "Girl standing at the window".

I hope one day they will organize an exhibition of his paintings nearby but I think it will be impossible.

I have a blog where I do reviews on books, Can I share it here ..Absly sorry for posing the question here but I could not find the appropriate group and the one I found did not have comment box.

Who Moved My Cheese?; Tuesdays with Morrie
Well; I have limited exposure to this genre. So these are all I could come up with.

Chandra, I do have some suggestions but would like to know more (I don't want to cause more trouble rather than less). Seems like would be best in a direct message than a public board. I sent you a friend request but you can also email me at 1worldmanyquestions@gmail.com. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Hi Avik,
No, actually. The books we read/discuss are not just limited to books about India or books by Indian authors.
You can check out the nominees for the Group read next month here

Avik , we have 2 sorts of reads -one is a group read every month wherein a book voted for and chosen by the group is discussed.
There is a buddy read thread , where in you just ask if anyone is interested in reading a particular book with you, and if you get someone , create a thread and start reading and discussing

Rivka, you can search in listopia or genres. The options are given in top right hand corner of Goodreads homepage .

thanks

Read "The whit tiger" by Arvind adiga

Would you consider non-fiction genre? I would suggest Shashi Tharoor if you like to understand inclusive development. If you want some fast pace, S. Hussain Zaidi is a good read... :) Cheers... keep reading

I am searching for a book of comedy genre by any Indian writer. Its something I have been looking for but did not receive any good recommendations.
Please recommend if you know of any such book.
Thank You.
:)
I loved no garlic, no onion by Srividya Padmanabhan or a similar sounding author
shall post the link later as mobile app not allowing

My main expectation from this group is to suggest me sites from where I can buy Bengali books, its very frustrating to know about all this good books and not able to read it, I don't much care for e-books, I love the smell of new books and able to hold it... my Bengali soul ache for my culture, my books and my people. Its been too long I am so far away from my country.

Thanks a ton Shashi!!

Thank you Prashant, yes i have read Hussain Zaidi. i like his writing.

Gr8 to be here

This site is more for readers than for authors or publishers. But I hope someone can give you some good suggestions.

Goodreads has this feature. If you go on the top of a bookpage you will see "readers also enjoyed". Once there was also another feature "similar books" but I can't find it anymore :/
You can use also GR's recommendations: on the top of the homepage you click on "recommendations" and the site suggests books who are similar based on the ones you have already read. It doesn't work very good, at least in my opinion, because sometimes you receive strange recommendations.

There are various authors groups in goodreads. If you join one of those you may find help. As dely said this is more for readers. We have a thread called
Little Known Indian publishers where various newbie publishers are discussed.
Good luck
