message 358: by Nienke (last edited May 07, 2013 10:03PM) (new)

Nienke Witteveen (naiyaru) | 3 comments I just started in Virginia Woolfs' Room of One's Own. I managed to get my hands on a couple classics and put them on my e-reader.

message 359: by Barbi (new)

Barbi I just started reading This World We Live In. It's the third book in Susan Beth Pfeffer's Last Survivors Trilogy and the first two books were really really good-- and not your typical YA dystopian/triology with a terrible love triangle either.

message 360: by Regina (new)

Regina (shoujoable) | 2 comments I'm reading Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. It's school required but I really like it. Plus, it's on the Rory Gilmore book list. ^_^

message 361: by Sunscented (new)

Sunscented | 3 comments I'm reading The Violets of March by Sarah Jio.
So far I like it.

message 362: by Rachel (new)

Rachel I am always reading many books at once. I enjoy listening to an audiobook while I am driving home from work, and right now in my car it's Going Rouge: An American Life by Sarah Palin. She is reading it, so it's really interesting hearing about her life through her voice. At home, I am reading Catching Fire and loving it! And just like Lauren Graham, I carry a book in my purse, so at work on my breaks I am reading The Time Travelers Wife.

message 363: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Eglinski (pameglinski) | 4 comments I'm reading Lisa See's book, Shanghai Girls. It goes deep into the cultural change and rift in Shanghai just before WWII. REads well and fairly fast. Interesting topic, since i just returned from Shanghai!

message 364: by [deleted user] (new)

I just started reading Restless by William Boyd and so far I'm really enjoying it. Haven't seen the BBC mini series yet but I will most definitely look it up once I finish reading the book :)

message 365: by Danna (new)

Danna I finished Wild Swans Three Daughters of China by Jung Chang and I liked it! I think everyone who likes China and Chinese history, or a simple generation'ed' biography - would enjoy it.
Now I am reading Don Quijote De La Mancha (I) (Coleccion Lecturas Clasicas Graduadas) by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra , which I'm reading in small sessions, because reading it all is hard.

Elizabeth (ezepeze11) | 72 comments omg i was JUST talking about that book in another thread, is it good? We were discussing how it is one of Rory's favorite books, which makes me really want to pick it up! But I've also heard that it is suuuuper hard to get through, so idk. I'm nervous haha

message 369: by Yelsha (new)

Yelsha | 2 comments I came to the start of the book thinking it would be a challenge to get through. But I'm actually finding it rather like a walk in the park.

Just finished Rosemary's Baby now. Time for Moby-Dick, right after I quickly read The Graveyard Book so that I hit 10,000 pages read this school year, before I go on holidays..

I loved Rosemary's Baby! Have you seen the film with Mia Farrow? x

message 383: by [deleted user] (new)

message 384: by Britta (new)

Britta (macdeath) | 6 comments I haven't seen the film yet, but I intend to! I've been thinking of watching all the films along with the books I read from Rory's list... But so far I've only watched On the Road. We'll see how that goes :D

Oh, Brideshead Revisited is great! I loved it. Have you seen the TV series? I don't think I've seen the whole thing, but what I did was great as well. And I love the book. I've been intending to reread it at some point.

I myself am now reading Moby Dick by Herman Melville. Started today and read 106 pages, so going well :) I'm surprised by how easy it is to read... at least for me. Loving it so far.

message 385: by Bianca (new)

Bianca (bookhoarding) | 3 comments Reading newest David Sedaris book (Let's Talk About Diabetes with Owls).

I just finished Caitlin Moran's books and I couldn't help but think Rory would love her. Feminist journalist with massive movie/music knowledge? Yes please!

Oh, I still have to see the mini-series! I heard a lot of people really enjoyed it as well :) and the book is something I can see myself re-reading in the future, it's really beautiful.

Glad to hear you're enjoying Moby Dick :) for me it's been years since I read it, so I don' really remember that much from the story..

Jessi (jesspeachee) I'm reading Apollyon. It's the 4th book in the Covenant series and i swear it's an addiction. It would've been smart to not have all the books within my grasp though cuz maybe then i wouldn't be reading so much and staying up till 5am.
