Lucie | 20 comments I am currently reading The Quiet Girl. I bought it because I really loved Hoeg's Smilla's Sense of Snow. It's still really good but Smilla was better.

* The Mammoth Hunters by Jean M. Auel for my Goal project for my Critical Thinking Through Literature class.

* Literary Experience by Bruce Beiderwell and Jeffery M. Wheeler (parts of, but not in its entirety)
* Thinking for yourself by Marlys Mayfield (parts of, but not in its entirety)

I'm reading other books for school as well, but one is currently in my bag and I can't remember the title, and the other has a book cover over it so I'm also lazy to check that. lol

I really love "The Secret History". It has such a great atmosphere. I need to re-read it. :-)

I just started re-reading the discworld series and began with "The Colour of Magic". Great, as always!

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I'm reading The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales. The TV show Grimm is about start airing in Ireland for the 1st time this week. Since is supposed to be based on storylines from the book, I wanted to read it first before I start watching the series.

Some of it is very good, but it's quite depressing. Some parts are a bit confusing, but I've a feeling that it'll make more sense later.

message 83: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Nearly done with Peter Pan. Not quite as good as I was expecting but still enjoyable.

I just started reading Dance Dance Dance by Haruki Murakami. He's one of my favourite authors.

Agness, which Murakami book would you definitely recommend? I've read After Dark and couldn't finish his short story collection, The Elephant Vanishes. The one I really liked was only his memoir, What I Talk About When I Talk About Running.

Literary Multitudes (literary_multitudes) I know I'm not Agness, but my all-time favorite Murakami is "Norwegian Wood". Wonderful atmosphere! I'd really recommend that one. :-)

Oh, I forgot to mention I already read Norwegian Wood, but I didn't like it that much. It wasn't the writing, but some parts of the story were just unconvincing for me. Thanks anyway, though!

message 92: by Julie (new)

Julie (plumcrazy22) The Thirteenth Tale. Turns out, I've read it before...but I don't remember how it ends or if I liked it so I will press on.

It's nice to have Goodreads now to track what I've read.

I thought of reading those but I know they have horrific endings and I just cant bring myself to mess with childhood memories.

I don't watch TV, so I'm not familiar with the show.

Hope you enjoy the stories.

I'd have to use SparkNotes to remember all of the symbolism in there. Symbolism always makes me think of a secret puzzle within the story that you have to break. Of course I'm always looking for a chance to play Nancy Drew. :)

message 95: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I finished reading Songs Of The Humpback Whale last night and it was awful. Today I've started reading All We Know of Heaven by Jacquelyn Mitchard.

message 96: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Started The Secret Garden today.

message 97: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I'm going back and forth reading multiple things. Last night I was reading Love in the Time of Cholera, but I've also been reading Divine Secrets of the YA-YA Sisterhood. This morning I'm feeling like reading Mrs. Dalloway. I have a ton of thesis work to do today, among other things, so I may not get to read for me at all.

message 98: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've just began reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King today.

message 99: by Zsu (new)

message 100: by Julie (new)

Julie (plumcrazy22) Secret Life of Bees. I like being able to jump into a story where it's a nice hot summer day. Gets me away from the winter weather for awhile.
