Bookaholic I just finished reading this book and I was just wondering, which is better? Host or Twilight? Which was Stephenie Meyer's better effort?

Emily Host. Hands down.

Well, let's see I liked the Host and Twilight but Twilight has more action in it! So it's a tie for me.

Madison host definatley!

✿Sandra Since you specifically asked which was her best effort, I would have to say The Host. I think it was a better written, more in depth story than Twilight.

Twilight was my favorite book in The Twilight Series, and I did enjoy the whole series overall, but I think it could have possibly been done in three books. To me, the second and third book had a lot of filler and I think they could have been combined into one.

Caitlin The Host is better to me.

Leslie The Host is definitely a better book. I wish she'd write the sequels - I can't wait to read them!

Hermina Oláh Vass The Host is by far the better. Although I think it's already complete and I wish she wouldn't write any sequel. In the Twilight saga I liked the first book best and I wasn't happy with the others. Except Midnight Sun, which is not even a real part of it. I think she has great ideas for awesome books, but so far she wasn't that good at expanding them.

Rachel The Host was MUCH better than any of the Twilight Saga books. It had a better story and better writing, it was more of an adult novel with more versatile language not meant for young teens to grasp as well as the simple and repetitive language used in her other books.
The characters in the Host where much more believable and real than any of the other characters. The prime example being that the heroine(s) Wanada/Mel were not "Mary Sues" like Meyers Bella Swan. Bella was not very well rounded in the Twilight books. Everyone loved Bella and Meyer did a good job of making her relate able to everyone because her descriptions and feelings/emotions are so general that anyone can slip themselves inside her. So in a competition of which is the better story/book series(or will be the Host sequel has not come out yet) The Host in my opinion is definitely better.

Tamara the host is amazing!! its way better then the twighlight saga!!

Savannah Agh, i read the host and i didn't really like it. It's not my type of book. Though it was much better than twilight. Overall the story line and the language she used were alot better. I could believe just for a sort amount of time that Stephanie Meyer's had actually gone to college and got a degree. It was written waay better...:P

lol u people are harsh

Shemeika I loved the Host

Catalina Ramirez The host, Bella is some times such a cry baby that it gets kind of dificult to continue.

Leslie I vote The Host for sure! I very much enjoyed The Twilight Saga but The Host had more emotional connection for me

Emiilia HelloBookLovers THE HOST!!!!! IT WILL ALWAYS BE "THE HOST"

I'm sorry...i guess, i'm just not that big a fan of her writing. I don't mean to be harsh, though that kind of was the way it came out like. :(

Poison Ivy Absolutely The Host. :)

Angelu The Host. :D more exciting.

Charity Gonna have to go with The Host!! It was simply amazing!

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

The host lol, I LOVE IT! its way.. better than twilight.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Its kind of unpredictable...(THE HOST)

Ariel The Host :3

message 24: by Lisa (new) - rated it 1 star

Lisa Guh. I didn't like The Host. Now I don't want to read Twilight. The Host had too many nice characters. If we were invaded by aliens I sure as heck would shoot my own Mom if she was possessed by a host. Her characters were too trusting of the enemy.

Sammy i could not say. i will have to be a fence sitter. i enjoyed them both to equal to extent.

message 26: by Marx (new) - rated it 5 stars

Marx Leo The Host.. hands down!

Tammie I like the Host better. I forced myself to finish the Twilight series.

message 28: by Tara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Tara Definatly The Host. Twilight was good, but this was mind boggiling!

DragonDreamer The Host ftw!!!!!! It is my favorite book :) action, romance, fantasy, all ingeniously combined. twilight? i liked the first book, the rest made me very frustrated and mad.

Smasher I shall have to say Host hands down. I didn't think Stephanie Meyers could write until I read The Host. I admit, I didn't even finish Twilight because it was too fluffy and weird for me (and I like paranormal stuff) but Host was more down my ally and seemed to have a point other than obsessive "love". (Sorry if that's harsh, it's just how I feel)

message 31: by Jen (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jen I really enjoyed both of them.

message 32: by Gabby (last edited Apr 21, 2011 02:45AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Gabby Definitely (surprise, surprise!) The Host. Stephanie Meyer learned from her mistakes in Twilight and I found this book to be more interesting, Bella and all of the characters in Twilight just annoyed me!

message 33: by Zoe (new) - rated it 5 stars

Zoe Definitely The Host. It was such an awesome read!

Gabbie fox I loved them both. I think she probably put a little more effort in the host though.

Maxine THE HOST IS WAY WAY WAY BETTER THEN TWILIGHT

Dawn Sammy wrote: "i could not say. i will have to be a fence sitter. i enjoyed them both to equal to extent."

I loved reading BOTH Host & the Twilight series. They are both very different stories & I enjoyed reading them equally as much. I read the Twilight series first & was honestly apprehensive in reading HOST. I didn't think Stephenie could top Twilight....but she, I thought, did an equally phenomenal job with HOST!

message 38: by Mare (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mare Hernandez Dawn, I agree 100% with you. I felt the same way before reading The Host. I was afraid of being desappointed by Stephenie, but I was gladly surprised for her amazing job on this book. It's true that the early chapters are a little dificult until you get used to the terms and who's talking -or thinking- but then it's awesome. Actually, one of the things I liked the most on the book was those innertalkings between Wanda and Mel.

Deedee Day the host all the way

Karen I liked both but I can say that I would read The Host again. Twilight was good but once was enough for me. You can really see an improvement in Stephenie Meyer's writing skills in The Host and it's just a great story I think. Twilight was entertaining but The Host, I felt, was much deeper than that. I think people who criticize Stephenie Meyer and haven't read The Host should resist comparing it to Twilight and give it a shot.

KatieH The Host. I thought Twilight was phenomenal when I first read it, but that was before I read other, much better books. ...and before I realized how annoying Kristin Stewart makes Bella.

But I love The Host, it's seriously so good and original and captivating. :)

Cristina Zhao THE HOST definitely

message 43: by Ron (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ron Because of it's association with Twilight, I almost didn't read The Host. It would have been a shame.

message 44: by Lora (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lora Palmer The Host, without a doubt.

message 45: by Anna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anna Jones k

Alexis-Morgan Roark The Host was better.

Deena Zaitounh The Host without a doubt!

message 48: by Leslie (new) - added it

Leslie The host without a doubt :)

Melissa The Host...definitely!

Yusra The host showed me Meyer made a mistake publishing Twilight.
