Wow! Do you think Stephanie Meyers reads our comments on Goodreads? How exciting if she were to answer!
The Host wins hands down. I struggled to get into it, but I'm so glad I battled through the very confusing first few pages. Brilliant story, great characters and a jolly fun read.
I think once Stephenie Meyer wrote The Host, she had already written about three books, and so she'd become more experienced and knows what readers are looking for and knows what people referred to as "bad writing" in the Twilight series, and so she just grew as a writer. And one must keep in mind that the Twilight series is supposed to go under "YA fiction" (although I personally think it's more tween fiction) and The Host is under "adult fiction". So, I think The Host is by far better than any of the Twilight books, but I think it was expected.
No question about it, Host is by far the better book. An actualy semi-original idea. I know the idea of alien invasion is just about as played out as vampires, but at least I can't name several other books off the top of head that have the same characters in them. I honestly think Meyer though of Wanderer all on her own!

When I finished reading the Host, I was like "Oh my God, this is an original idea. Congrats Meyer!" And the emotions in this book is deeper and goes deeper than the stereotypical *puke* love that Bella had *eye roll* for Edward.
Although I've re-read the Twilight saga books more times than The Host, I like The Host better. I felt like I was living inside the cave with those people. The writing was way better in The Host!
Although the Host is very good and has the action and romance Stephanie Meyers is good at, Twilight also had that so it is really hard for me to pick so I’ll just choose both. They were both amazing in there own ways, I really hope she continues the series for the Host but part of me thinks if she does, it will turn into Mockingjay mixed with Pandemonium; she ended at the perfect spot but kind of set it up for a sequel.
I bought the Host and couldn't get pass the third chapter, just didn't hold my interest. Twilight all the way..

I kinda started reading the Host, but I had something on my mind at the time (I don't know what though) and I couldn't get into it, yet I picked up another book and dived straight into it. I don't hate Twilight, but I couldn't help thinking that I couldn't get into the Host cause Stephanie wrote it. Probably just expecting it to be the same or something. I dunno. I was wondering if you people could tell me if I should make an effort to read it or not (seeing as this is a 'is the host or twilight better?' type of discussions). So, should I make an effort to read it, or should I just leave it a bit longer and not go out of my way.
The Host is much much much better than 4 twilight books combine as one. Ok, the first 10 chapters are killing me, I almost didn't finished the book but my friend insist me to (thanks god she did). The Host is better, hands down.

I tryed reading it once before, never really got into it, and quit reading it along the 10th chapter. then i began the read it again like a year later and LOVED it. Definitely the best book i ever read.

Thankyou for the advice. It's been a few months since I picked it up so I'll try it again and see if I can get a taste for it. :)
I also don't believe there's anything wrong with Twilight, but I feel she did a much better job with The Host. It was just absolutely perfect and I'm so excited they're making it into a movie! :) CANNOT WAIT!
