I love both. But it is easy to say the The Host is, was and always will be better than twilght. It took 4 books to prefect Twilight. But it took just one for The Host.

You should have waited until the end. It's quite a NICE BOOK. No, not quite! It's a GREAT BOOK except the first parts...
The Host was definitely a better written piece of work. I LOVE Twilight, but I enjoy watching Stephenie Meyer grow as an author. I believe her writing gets better with each book. Let's not forget; Twilight was a young adult novel and her first attempt at writing. The Host was an adult novel and she had more practice writing by the time she published The Host. So, yes i believe The Host was the better novel.

You can really see an improvement in Stephenie Meyer's writing skills in The Host and it..."kristen stewart is not bella. the book was before the movie and how ever you saw bella before the movie is how you should see her. I read the books and how I see bella is not the same as the character in the movie and honestly I like my version of bella way better than kristen stew.
The Host! She needs to turn it into a series but got caught up in Twilight. Meyer probably doesn't even know she wrote the Host. Haha!

She actually doesn't want to continue The Ho..."
I was kidding. I don't care why she doesn't want to continue the Host. If what you say is true, that is a waste of talent. I doubt she will write anything else, since she hasn't already. If she does it will probably be something stringing from Twilight. Boo.

Although I do enjoy them both, the Host wins by a landslide. It's more inventive, and Stephanie's writing skills shine more in that book than Twilight.
The Host!!! I've read the Twilight series as well, but just re-read The Host and still think it's much better. :) I even convinced my mom to read The Host, and she was against it because she hates the Twilight craze. She liked The Host, too. I think it speaks to much a larger group of people - what guys admit to reading Twilight? The Host could be read by guys.
The Host is sooo much better! I just loved the plot. And I agree with others, that Host is better than twilight. But, for me, the movies ruined twilight for me. I totally hope they never make a Host movie. There is no way they can make a movie that fits everyones mental picture. I think that, if they made a movie, it would just be a disappointment, like the twilight movies were.
i enjoyed both books, but it did take me a while to get into THE HOST, the THE HOST had more in it then just love.
Host and Twilight are such different stories, different tone and even style. I highly recommend The Host to people who have only read Twilight. It definitely gave more depth to the author, Stephanie Meyers in my eyes.

Both the host and the twilight series are wonderful books but I most definately think the host was a better book. I loved them both and really can't say any bad things about them.
I think The Host was a lot better than Twilight. It was more mature for one thing and I'm not a teenager any more so I'm way past all the teen angst. Also, the teenagers in the Twilight series are so 'good'. There's no smoking, no drinking, no drug use, no swearing. I can't think of any teenagers like that but maybe they are real in SM's world.

She was such a boring, one dimensional character. She wasn't into music, had no hobbies and her remarks were always bland and lacked amiable personality and character. How can Edward, who was over 100 years old and had seen the world, find her to be "the one"?
Gayle wrote: "No contest for me. Twilight. So, I guess I beg to differ."For the open minded, its still great that people have different opinions AND aren't afraid to express them.

Thanks, Kristen. You're very kind.

Her remarks were usually sarcastic and she was sometimes rather funny, in my opinion.
Madison wrote: "host definatley!"Indeed. The host is so much better than the whole Twilight-saga. I would so recommand it to Twilight-haters.
I was a die hard Twilight fan... until I read The Host! I love the depth that was put into this story and I can still read it over and over with great joy. This is definitely one of her best works!
to be honest, i read all 4 twilight books. as 4 the Host...i abandoned it. but after reading this blog...i feel like i should pick it back up...what do u guys think? but for the record, im pretty sure i only read all the twilights because of all the publicity. anyways, about the host...
I think the host is much better, my reasoning for this is that The host is a very orginal idea you dont see many books about this subject compaired to the 100s of books you see about vampires, It gave me so much more respect for Stephine Meyer as a writer, I did enjoy twilight dont get me wrong, but this is so much more enjoyable
I think perhaps one of the factors for liking one book over the other is perhaps in what order you read the books and when you read them. I think I loved Twilight so much more because I read it prior to reading The Host and I also read Twilight before reading any other vampire books, so it was ground breaking for me.
