The Host. Twilight was okay but the Host had so much more going for it. It has a better "backround" or "foundation" than Twilight and personally, it seems more complex. Twilight was really just simple, reading wise and everything

Me too! I used to love Twilight(before the movie). Then I started reading alot after the Twilight Saga and turns out, the Twilight Saga doesn't even make my top 10 favorite books anymore.
For a fact the HOST!!!!My copy looks a bit tired and dog-eared, whenever I dont know what to read or dont have anything to read, I pull out "The Host".
I liked Twilight, but I so much more enjoyed The Host
i like both... Actually it has different story and imagination.
But, it fun to read both of them.
I love, how Stephanie meyer took us to her imagination.
Great story from the beginning.
can't wait stephanie meyer next book.
I liked The Host better! I felt like there was more depth to the actual story! Plus i think i liked the love triangle WAY better in The Host! (Well i guess it was really a love four-angle) It was so much more complex and interesting! I like Twilight too but The Host was way better!
I am so glad to see so many Host fans. I enjoyed the Twilight as a series, but the Host hands down was a much more meaty, comprehensive and quite the delightful book with great characters that you could really fall in love with.
When I read the twilight series it opened new reading paths for me. I look back now after reading over 20 different series and think what was I thinking it was the best book around. When I read The Host it took me after the first 10 chapters to really get into the book similiar to how long it took me to enjoy Twilight. After I got into the book I loved it. It made me cry and over all I enjoy the complexity to the story.
Overall I would have to say I enjoy The Host far more that the Twilight Series.
I had to read half way through Twilight to get hooked, but the Host had me hooked at the blurb! :D <3

The Host is so much better than Twilight. The Twilight Saga is great, yes, but The Host is totally awesome - One of my favorite books.
The Host. Although I LOVED the Twilight books (not the crappy movies), The Host was absolutely amazing. Couldn't ask for a better book. Plus Melanie is a stronger person than Bella, which I think makes her a better character
Twilight is decent, everyone seems to love it. But the Host, I read it over two years ago and I still think of Wanda on a weekly basis. The characters are memorable and deep and the book will never lose what makes it great. Twilight, however, is based on a fad and will likely die with the fad.
Andrea wrote: "...The characters are memorable and deep and the book will never..."I honestly forgot the characters almost entirely. I never got attached to any of them while I was reading the book, either.
i think you cant really compare them, i personally didnt enjoy the host and twilight was a light read. If we are talking about Meyes best effort, geez i would have to say neither. They are books that you can read for a while but thats it it wont go beyond that! Dont get me wrong, i enjoyed twilight but you can not compare nor say ones better than the other!
Come on people. NO CONTEST! Twlight sucks compared to The Host. Twilight was totally predictable and The Host kept me on the edge of my bed! :D
Definitely Host! :)At first I read all the Twilight series and didn't want to read The Host(shame)...
And when I read it-I was in shock!!!
I never thought that one book is so great!
It didn't sounded like Meyers book! Not at all(maybe not)
My only words was- Wow! Great! Exelent! Great! Super!
Nothing bad! So they who read Twilight, but didn't read The Host- they are missing best book about Future!
Cant wait the movie! :)
I think that the Twilight series is definitely more YA, whereas the Host caters to a more mature group??I preferred the HOST miles above Twilight, but I did enjoy Twilight... have to give Meyers credit, it is well written, I think it is more the storyline that is not to everyone's taste.
The host, without a doubt. It has more substance, more of an actual storyline and the heroin has a personality that gradually develops and changes...
difinitly The Host!!! Twilight was good but the host showed me that Stephenie could have done a better job!!!
Amanda wrote: "lololol im shocked by these answers ^"I'm shocked, too! I keep seeing more and more and more people saying "The Host" in such a way as if it were so obvious that Twilight doesn't compare. :p I was quite disappointed with The Host, and found Twilight to be much more entertaining.
I feel like the host was better b/c wanda was more believable than bella. I feel like SM tried to make bella nearly as good and flawless as wanda, but it doesn't work w/ bella b/c she's human. I could accept wanda's loving pacific personality b/c she's a soul.
I throughly enjoyed both. But I would have to say the Host, simply because it was more original to me. Twilight has been done before. I read Vampire Diaries long before Twilight came out.
Def The Host. It disappoints me when people say Steph Meyer doesn't deserve to be an author because of her reputation from Twilight. This book is sooo much better
Valerie wrote: "Twilight!!!!!! Are you kidding me, Twilight is amazing!!!!!!!!!"Have you even read The Host?
The Host had less annoying characters..... I mean I like Eclipse but the whole Twilight Saga I'm not a huge fan of. Bella is annoying......
I even have a list on my profile I made.
100 reasons why Twilight sucks.....
You can check it out if you'd like ;)
The Host is way better than Twilight. Meyer should have focused more on The Host than all the Twilight things. I mean I have been waiting to find out if the humans get back Earth for awhile now. Although I heard in possible sequels it may not be in Wanderer's point of view, I am not sure what exactly I think about that. I want to find out how well she is settling in her new body and her feelings for Ian. Although a bok in Burns' POV would be interesting, a story telling how he got involved with humans. Since I read the book I was wondering about that exactly.
Bookaholic wrote: "I just finished reading this book and I was just wondering, which is better? Host or Twilight? Which was Stephenie Meyer's better effort?"Well the whole reason I read the host was because of Twilight.. can't really compare the 2.. because they are totally different... I loved all of Twilight books (way better than the movies).. but I also loved The Host... So I can't choose.. :)
