Adriana | 4 comments Well yes! I couldn't be posible that everybody survive the mision (deads of Finnick prim etc)
Just perfect the way kattnis explain why she is in love with peeta<3

message 252: by Bridget (new)

Bridget (americanxgirlxluvrx386) | 157 comments I thought that the conclusion of THG was great. Katniss marries Peeta, and together Peeta, Haymitch and Katniss make a book to remember all of their friends that had died. I thought that it was very sweet and well done by Suzanne Collins.

message 253: by Hestar (new)

Hestar (hstar) i think the end was ok, but the who book was pretty boring. i liked the end though, they won who cant be happy about that

message 254: by Liz (new)

Liz (elizabethisafangirl) No, I'm sorry... I've just never really loved peeta, and I really wanted her with Gale. Also, I thought the book was actually pretty boring and wasn't as good as the other two.

message 255: by Liz (new)

Liz (elizabethisafangirl) Foxface wrote: "She should've ended up with Gale :("

I SO AGREE WITH YOU.

message 256: by Julieta (new)

Julieta I didn't like the ending, as in I didn't like how things turned out. But that was the only realistic conclusion. I don't like how Finnick and Prim died, but it was a war, and in wars, sometimes people you really like die. If Suzanne Collins had ended the book any other way, she would be a very poor writer indeed.

message 257: by low (new)

low (lows) I think it was a nice ending. Nice is the keyword. I'm not a big fan of the epilogue, but I suppose it was alright. I still rated Mockingjay 5 stars haha.

message 258: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 8 comments Well I liked the ending, how they were married and had children and everything is peaceful, but I definitely didn't like how the whole story played out

I Luv | 5 comments I like it with the exception of Finnick and Prim

message 261: by Amy (new)

Amy J | 27 comments Not really, I guess I was expecting more and the deaths weren't part of it.

message 262: by Marisa (new)

Marisa Bieschke | 25 comments I like how it ended, I know people are disappointed that certain people died but knowing they died for a reason doesn't make me as mad. Even when Peeta lost his memory, there was still that bit of him the capital couldn't take away:) every little bit led up to them being free:)

message 263: by Christy (new)

Christy I honestly thought instead of prim gale should have died... Because... It seemed so stupid that he just skipped of to another district and nothing about him was mentioned again... I mean if he was really in love with Katniss why would he just do that.

message 264: by Marisa (new)

Marisa Bieschke | 25 comments Ikr! That's the thing that I hate is that he just leaves her with out a word! But I think prim did for a good cause I think she died a hero

message 265: by Amy (new)

Amy J | 27 comments @Christy: I know right! I didn't really like the ending because I thought it was weird. But I do like the fact that Katniss and Peeta are together! But there were so many deaths that didn't have to happen! (Prim, Finnick, etc.)

message 266: by Allison (last edited Nov 18, 2013 03:40PM) (new)

Allison Janezic (allilj) | 16 comments Well yes and no.

What I did like:

I am happy she ended up with Peeta. He has always been my choice. Sorry Katniss/Gale shippers.

They have children. Now that the hunger games are over she can not fear her children will be forced to compete in the same torturous game she was forced to endure.

Coin and Snow die. I never trusted Coin and hated Snow.

She's eternally stuck with Buttercup.

What I didn't like:

Prim's death. After all that she puts herself in the games to save her sister and in the end it is moot. Not just Prim's death but Collins pretty much skated over her death. Didn't seem right IMO.

Finnick. I cried so hard when he died. But his child will live on but that made me cry too. I knew he was a gonner in Catching Fire when I fell in love with his character. His character was so charismatic, selfless and strong. In my opinion he was one of the most complex characters in the book. However not all our favorite characters can survive this kind of war.

The end was rushed. The epilogue was not long enough. It felt like we needed more time. I would love to know what happened to Katniss that finally made her realize she loved Peeta.

Gale turning his back on Katniss. I mean there was no talk, no walk in the woods and it made absolutely no sense. For a guy who loves this girl and is pretty much her best friend I just don't understand him never talking to her again. If he truly loved her he would have fought for her with more conviction like he did for the rebels. It did not make sense to me. I do understand him not wanting to return to 12 after the devastation and the heartache but I don't understand him totally ignoring her when she needed him most. Maybe that was the only way Collins could make it easier for Katniss to choose Peeta without having to kill Gale off. Which had she done that probably would've caused an uproar. But IMO it would have made more sense.

What I would have like to have seen:

The pearl used more to try and help Peeta remember. It was significant and a missed opportunity by the author.

message 267: by Claudia (new)

Claudia Munoz | 1 comments I liked Mockingjay a lot. I liked it because of how realistic it was. It was about how war is never all pros; it damages people. People that think it was a happy ending are fooling themselves. Do you actually think Katniss Everdeen was truly sunshine and daisies after everything that happened? No, she wasn't. But she had Peeta and he helped her get better and she helped him get better. In the end they just live day by day with their circumstances, and that's okay. That's life!

message 268: by Potatohead (new)

Potatohead | 1 comments I need to say I loved the ending. I have a little theory about Snow. He is Santa clause. Just look online. It is true.

message 269: by Emmie (new)

Emmie Smtih (emsmith10) | 1 comments I did not like e ending at all... It kind of left you hanging. I wish that's Suzanne Collins told more of katniss's future like J,K Rowling in Harry Potter wig he whole 19 years later thing. Also I do t think finnick should've died and that prims shouldn't have died...... Kinda makes the whole purpose of why she started the reviling useless

message 270: by Allison (new)

Allison Janezic (allilj) | 16 comments Emmie wrote: "Also I do t think finnick should've died and that prims shouldn't have died...... Kinda makes the whole purpose of why she started the reviling useless"

While I kind of agree it does seem useless, there are many times people do things to save someone, something heroic and self sacrificing only to have the person they were trying to save die. It happens everyday in life. While I wish she had not died in the book I can see how Prim was doing the very thing Katniss did. She was trying to save those kids. Unfortunately she could not. The one thing I wish Collins would have done was give her a bit more of a memorial. Peeta did with the Primroses outside of the house but I think that the reader should have had more of it from Katniss' point of view of the loss of her sister.

message 271: by beth (new)

beth (beth01) "There are worse games to play".
That is seriously my favourite sentence ever!

Apart from that, I have no other comments on the ending. It was good, but not great.

message 272: by Katrín Rós (last edited Dec 14, 2013 05:22AM) (new)

Katrín Rós (katrinrosf) I loved the book altogether (besides that she killed of some amazing characters). But I respect Suzanne Collins really much and love her writing and this story in a world she made. I especially loved the epiogue because she leaves us with hope that everything will be good and Katniss will live a good life with Peeta. Btw, I am really happy that he got better.
Anyway, that's just my opinion.

message 273: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 1 comments I love love LOVE the ending! Except Finnick's death of course... I feel that wasn't entirely necessary. As far as Katniss ending up with Peeta, then yes! I like how it isn't the whole "And they lived happily ever after" sort of thing... That would have completely thrown off the feel of the entire series. I like Peeta with Katniss. And the part about the kids is just awesome. And ending with "But there are much worse games to play." gives me cold chills every time!

I totally agree with you!

message 275: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 18 comments Ok, so I like he way it all feels like a blur towards the end cause life often feels that way. I think that the deaths although tragic and horrible, by the by I love Finnick with like a third of my heart (the other two belong to gilbert(Anne of green gables) and four/tobias(divergent)), I also think that they were a necessity to the ending - I however do think that they can't amount a character up to so much and the kill him in the way Finnick died, it basically just shows how she looks down and he is just dead, so yeah hat peeved me off a lot. I don't like the epilogue beacause of how she gave in to peeta about having children, I think that the whole concept of her having a family was always with her and gale, and that one of the meanings of their relationship was how they only needed each other, and that having children denies that beautiful concept. I think that the whole voting thing with the Capitol hunger games was an awesome idea but it never amounts to anything which annoyed me - she should have described that in some way, even if was just a mention of the outcome in the epilogue. So I think that it works but could be better!

message 276: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 18 comments I have seen some comments about what the children's names would be and I had some great fun talking with my friend about what they might be, I like that it's left open to our imagination.

beth (beth01) Minimoule wrote: "I have seen some comments about what the children's names would be and I had some great fun talking with my friend about what they might be, I like that it's left open to our imagination."

Yeah same. I like how she left it up to us to come up with the names ourselves!

message 278: by Jess (new)

Jess (crunchytunaroll) | 3 comments I absolutely loved the ending of Mockingjay. I originally read the books on a flight back to Afghanistan where I was deployed and all of the killing and destruction that she had to deal with really resonated within me. I was currently going through one of the darkest moments of my life and while Katniss obviously dealt with more extreme trauma than I did it was like the book was telling me that human beings are amazing creatures and if you want to survive, through anything, it takes great sacrifice, a large amount of courage, and it is a constant battle within yourself to continue on. Some days will be harder than others, but it doesn't have to be the end.

The only criticism I would have had was that the violence and gore was at an extreme and I wasn't a huge fan of it. It was that kind of brutally honest that gives you an immediate snapshot that you can't shake from your thoughts right away. However, I understand the necessity of it in the book. It's just a personal preference really.

message 279: by Gemma (new)

Gemma | 12 comments Well personally I loved the books and I didn't really care about all the violence in the book.

message 280: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 18 comments I love in the epilogue when it talks about telling their children why the nightmares came and why they will never really go away.

message 281: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 18 comments I kinda want if they do the epilogue in the movie them to do a voice over just for that bit.

message 282: by Gemma (new)

Gemma | 12 comments I know that would make the movie seem really great. I really liked the epilogue as well when they talk about the kids singing the hanging tree song and when they talk about when Katniss was pregnant with them. That seemed really cute when I first read it.

message 283: by Felisha (new)

Felisha | 3 comments I absoulutly love how it ended with peeta and katniss it was sweet and I want to know more about their kids

message 284: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 18 comments I love it, but as I said a while ago I do like how she gives in to him and haves kids, I think that needing just each other to survive is third thing and having kids doesn't really go with that.

message 285: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 18 comments The saddest thing about prim's death was that I didn't cry until the scene with buttercup and Katniss started screaming at buttercup hat prim's dead, that teared me up real good. So yeah I ink that the death itself should have been more heart wrenching instead of the aftermath.

message 286: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 18 comments I think the epilogue was good minus them having kids, I loved the last line. And although I ship gale she should have ended up with peeta, she made the right choice for her, but I would have chosen Finnick but he died so yeah gale.

message 287: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 18 comments For those who are like what about gale. There is a theory that he died and they didn't think Katniss was up to the truth, and this makes sense because after he was captured and she didn't shoot him when they're in the Capitol, he isn't in the books him escaping wasn't ever described so yeah just a theory.

message 288: by Gemma (new)

Gemma | 12 comments Well in the end of the book they say he lives in another district.

message 289: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 18 comments I know, it's a cover story, in the theory that is, think about it he wouldn't desert her.

message 290: by Gemma (new)

Gemma | 12 comments Yeah but I think that he thought that he shouldn't stay around while the woman he loves is with someone else. If I were him I wouldn't want to watch the one I love be with someone else.

Sophie (sophieiscraycray4books) | 2 comments Diana wrote: "Personally i think that the mockingjay ending could've been better. Prim should've not died and Finnick either. those two deaths in the book were very sad. other then that the ending of mockingjay ..."

Well I actually think that's what made it better. Don't get me wrong Finnicks like my favorite. BUT this is how war IS. It does not matter how important a character/person is and it doesn't matter if someone was good or not. People die in war. Sometimes for no reason. We love these characters very much but I think that SC did a fantastic job of portraying how war truly is. No one gets a happy ending in war. There may be a victor, but everyone suffers great losses from it. Killing prim and Finnick added more emotion to it I felt like. I love Finnick though. He's my favorite but I like that SC wasnt afraid to show the reality of it.

message 292: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Lay (kristennl99) I liked the ending. It was bittersweet. Even though the deaths of Prim and Finnick made me sad, the conclusion was very well done. The whole Hunger Games trilogy started with Katniss trying to save Prim. However, Prim is still killed. Its very upsetting.

Vidula Pagar | 10 comments Diana wrote: "Personally i think that the mockingjay ending could've been better. Prim should've not died and Finnick either. those two deaths in the book were very sad. other then that the ending of mockingjay ..."

yeah its really very tragic. they shouldn't have died and neither Cinna.

message 294: by Vidula (new)

Vidula Pagar | 10 comments Why do they have to end so tragic??? Not a great ending at all.

message 295: by Hope (new)

Hope Hibbs | 2 comments As far as picking Peeta over Gale, I was happy with and do believe she loved him. It was a better fit and made sense. I don't think she was just with him because he was there, I think she knew deep down that she loved him from the previous book. She just wanted to feel that way with Gale because that was the original plan before this all happened. I think if she ended up with Gale, it would have been more of a "that is what I was suppose to do," ending.
The ending in general. We did not care for it too much. It seems like so much more could have been done with it, especially with the trial. It just dropped at the end with the kids, etc. as well. We didn't need a 'happy, go lucky, Disney' type ending but it would have been nice to know a little more.
I think when they make the movie, they might take advantage of this and show more specifics. So far the movies have been pretty accurate with the book, but I would really like to see something more with the ending so I don't feel so empty with it. I think the movie might add more with the trial, etc.

message 296: by Amy (last edited Apr 11, 2015 02:14PM) (new)

Amy J | 27 comments Well, I posted another review on a similar topic, but I was upset with many of the deaths. But here's what I put on the other board: I don't know, I wasn't exactly satisfied with it. I feel that the entire book had way too much information all just stuffed into 300-some pages so it wasn't as good as it could have been. I do love Peeta and am so happy that everything he went through, he did marry the woman he loved and I know that because of one of the main subjects of the book, not everyone was going to survive and be happy. Still, all that in mind, there was just something that seemed incomplete to me when I finished it. I'm not sure what, but I feel a tiny hole is still open.
