I actually dont really like the ending of Mockingjay! I felt so sad and I cried. I was hoping for better ending, and I am not the type of "happy-endings girl," but I just felt like they deserve something more than they get. Also I really did not expect Prim to die. I expect Gale, Peeta or maybe even Katniss to die, but not somebody who is that innocent like Prim. It was quite weird that the story starts when Katniss goes to the Hunger games, because she wants to save her sister, but Prim in the end dies. That was the saddest moment in all the books for me! Dont really like the ending, really...

Personally I did, but Prim shouldn't have died. That way, Katniss would be happier than she is with Peeta by her side
Happy endings are boring endings, E.
When I read this, I really thought that she just really rushed into the ending. I think that she could have added more but just was at the point to where she wanted to get it over with. I liked the ending all the same though. :)
*sigh* I can't be bothered to write it all down again...here's my Mockinjay review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

I completely agree. The way she killed him off, it didn't seem like he was a major character... I don't know what she was thinking while writing the last book honestly... but im still hungergamesaddict321 on youtube. :)
I think that the book ended how it was meant to end. Even if we got sad about the deaths of the characters we loved we can't change it cause this was their destiny:( Everything happens for a reason...
It needed a coherent ending. Suzanne violated the show-don't-tell rule many times not just in the last few pages but throughout the book.

Okay, I was reading through these comments, and I respect all of your opinions. BUT....What I very much distaste is when people say, "Oh, well, I hate Mockingjay! Finnick an Prim etc. died so now I hate it!" No. Okay, those deaths? They were meeant to be there for you to read on. Not for you to hate it because your favorite character died. I understand that you were sad when Cinna or Prim or whoeer else you liked died, and I, too, wished they either lived or had a better and more memorable death, but don't say you hate the book because somebody you liked died. Sorry, but in my opinion, that's kind of pathetic. It's a book, it's not like your brother or sister just died. So don't hate on Suzanne Collins because she killed off big characters too quickly. That's what war is like. One of my classmates told me he just read Prim's death. Then said he absolutely hated the entire book. I'm not kidding. Things like that tick me off.
I am dearly sorry if I hurt anybody's feelings, but I just want everybody to think about why they hate a book, and then decide if it's a good reason or not.
Okay, so I get the whole 'get used to dieing, this is the hunger games thing' but does anyone else think that after the destruction of the capitol and stuff that everything just went by too fast? I mean, as soon as that happened it was like, yay, we won, then depressed katniss then it was smoochie smoochie all cute love story the end... she probably could have made a whole nother book!!!
I agree with Diana. Finnick shouldn't have died he just got married for crying out loud! He also left Annie pregnant so that baby would of grown up without a father and Prim was such a good character too. Both of them are 2 of my favourite characters
I like the ending. Like someone already said it's was bittersweet. I love the way Katniss explained the reason why she chose Peeta. that's what war is like.
Agreed. So, yes some deaths are really sad but that's what life is like also...
I didnt like the fact that Finnick died, and i felt like the end stayed with Katniss and Peeta. It didnt tell us what happened to everyone else's lives. How everyone carried on with life!
The epilogue was AMAZING!!!!! I stayed up until 3 in the morning to finish the book and it was worth it!!!
I didn't. I wasn't expecting a happy ending, but I thought the way events turned out was kind of bizarre, specially the last part when they are trying to reach to Snow's mansion and later Katniss meltdown. It didn't work for me. Also those weir parachoutes that killed the kids and Prim, I was like WHAY DID JUST HAPPEN! SERIOUSLY? Over all, I thought at parts was kind of boring and later rushed and complicated stuff happened conveniently while Katniss was out. I think the book lacked the "sparkle" that the first two had.
I enjoyed Mockingjay a great deal. I loved the tragedy and everything else that happened. It did feel a bit rushed and could have been better if it was stretched out a bit more. Overall, I still loved the ending and everything that happened. I just wish Suzanne Collins took a bit more time so it didn't feel so rushed.
Mark wrote: "So did Katniss do the right thing when she shot President Coin?"Of course. If she hadn't, things could be much worse. I think that she(Coin) was worse than President Snow. She was pretending all the time while Snow wasn't. We knew what he was and he didn't mind doing the things he believed... he was bad but that's what he was. Maybe if Katniss didn't kill Coin could end up dead, who knows... :))

Yeah, that was kinda what I thought - plain evil is better than duplicitous evil!
IT WAS SO SAD. But the country was saved and no more hunger games so I guess it was a realistic ending. PRIM!!!
FINNICK!!!!
i fealt like the ending was really rushed but ya i think she did the right thing by killing coin... coin would've made things just as bad as they were before or maybe worse
I had mixed feelings about the ending.I like that Katniss ended up with Peeta. Gale was a good character, but I guess she couldn't forgive him because of those bombs and Prim. Poor Prim. Poor Finnick.
NO! I didn't like how Mockingjay ended!
...
cuz it ended!!
there should be, like, short stories of Hunger Games, by Collins. Hm. One more book, and I'll be satisfied.

Yeah but think about itWhat would the book be about? Since Suzanne already showed like 20 years into the future. What would be the plot of the book?
The next book should be about Katniss and Peeta's children all grown up and facing a new President Snow-type...
Nope. It was too abrupt. As if Suzanne Collins got bored writing the series and wanted a quick finish. At least it wasn't as horrible as James Patterson's Nevermore ending for the Maximum Ride series though.
Mark wrote: "The next book should be about Katniss and Peeta's children all grown up and facing a new President Snow-type..."I think it should be about the next Hunger Games since Katniss voted a yes during the meeting.

Except that was Snow's idea and it would have died with her, surely?
Poor suzanne collins! All of you hating on the last book, yes it was my least favourite of the three, but i loved it!! And all this talk of it being rushed, i thought it moved at a reasonable pace. And then how there should be another book explaining everything, that is a stupid idea. She strategically did it like that so it would keep you wondering about the trilogy for the rest of your lives. What, do you want to read a fourth book and go "Well that's the end of that then" and forget about it forever? A true hunger games fan wouldn't want that. Seriously, Mockingjay was a brilliant book and you should all be grateful to have read such a brilliant trilogy. There. I've had my rant. Proceed.

I didn't like Mockingjay as much as the others but I loved it. I think it was sweet that Suzanne Collins made Peeta and Katniss have kids. I don't think she got tired of writing THG series. Go Hunger Games!

It was nice like cuz she never wanted them in the beginning but now that the government isnt all wacked she was free to be happy and have them with peeta :')
I actually like the way the book ended: in a book like this you can't expect your favorite characters to be unaffected. Personally, the ending of the book depressed me: the way that after all Katniss has been through, she is dumped in the remains of district 12 with a semi-deranged Peeta and no family
I had read the book like.. about one year ago and im still so PISSED that she FREAKING KILLED OF PRIM!!!!!I would have liked some word from SC, telling us what did this meant to her.
Seriusly. The end of the book left me with an empty felling, like the whole story was pointless.
Some of the fan says that Prims death was necesary so Katniss would see that Coin wasnt better of Snow, or the capitol, but I believe there would had been another way.
Now if SC just wanted us to read something that says, ok no matter what you do, how much you try, you cant save your sister. You saved the world Katniss but you couldnt save the one you loved the most!
Thats all, the end...
By the way I cant understand why you all loved finick so much, It wasnt that important (for me). Just saying, if I look what she did with Prim, just killed her making the whole story "of I want to save my sister", I find it normal that she killed of another less important characters.

i cant speak for everyone else but i think the reason i hated it so much when finnick dies was we really got like into his story and started falling in love with him in catching fire and then he got to marry annie and it just fealt like after all he went through with the capitol prostituting him and stuff and he never really got to live out his happy ending with the love of his life and i dont know.. he was one of my favorite characters and even though it ddnt have a humongous impact on the book when he died i still like cried so hard when he died!!! it still bums me out :/

RIGHT! I couldn't agree more! :'(
Though I liked it, I expected more from it. Finnick's and Prim's death were way too sad and in my opinion, unexpected. However, as sad as it may be, it is reality. We are reading The Hunger Games afterall so we can't think all of our favorite characters will have a happy ending. And about Katniss being married to Peeta I liked it because I always saw Gale as a brother to her because they have similar personalities, while Peeta complements what Katniss doesn't have and viceversa. However, I would have liked to see Katniss much more in love with him.
I LOVE the trilogy but... the end of the trilogy was bad for me, I mean it was normal but it wasn't what I expected to be...
I loved the trilogy but am not satisfied with the ending the way Gale is thrown out of the story and the whole thing felt rushed and I actually really hated the happy ending I guess I'm weird but I would've preferred Gale to have died cause it felt like she forgot him and I was expecting Katnis to die as it ended or something a more tragic ending after her mission was over but the trilogy was amazing just my opinion don't hate
I love that Katniss and Peeta were happy and had kids and stuff, but i feel that it was a bit rushed. I wish that Suzanne Collins could have gone into how they re-kindled their relationship, rather than just saying "Peeta and I grew back together" I got to the end of the book just wanting more...
oh and wanting to know what they named their children of course, and what happened to the other minor characters, for example Annie and her son... I would have preferred Gale to die as well, i never liked him...
I love the trilogy but I did not get satisfied with the ending...
There were so many questions at the end, for example: What happened to Gale at the end when Katniss and Peeta had kids?
As much as I hated Gale. I still felt like that all the characters deserve endings and knowing how they have ended. Also, Katniss and Peeta's kids don't even have a name...
SC left a HUGE gap in the ending...
but I guess that the fanfictions have to fill those gaps, i guess...

I hope that when they make Mockingjay Part 2 they try and add a few end details in there, besides, they're making TWO movies, and they're bound to have a little bit of space to fill? ;) anyway, that bit might need more explaination than the book anyway otherwise the CRAAZZYY people who havent read the book won't know what's going on :P xx
