Mr. Never Smiles I heard about that. All of the reviews I received were bad.
I NEED MORE HUNGER GAMES!!!

message 103: by Mr. Never Smiles (new)

Mr. Never Smiles Matched? By the by, I heard there was a Japanese or Chinese movie that is pretty much the exact same thing as THG

message 104: by britt ✨ (new)

britt ✨ (britteeebee) I want to read Matched, Divergent, and Wither. I heard they're all good. They all have a dystopian theme going on.

I don't think that any books will top the Hunger Games for a very long time!

message 105: by Mr. Never Smiles (new)

Mr. Never Smiles *shrugs* just heard about it briefly at a writing convention. i still <3 Katniss and the gang

Really? I enjoyed it a lot.

message 107: by Mr. Never Smiles (new)

Mr. Never Smiles maybe i should read it...just so i kno if it rox or sux

message 108: by [deleted user] (new)

I think that some people, I'm not saying you, but I think they're afraid to read other books in case they like them better than Hunger Games...although Hunger Games is the best dystopian novel I've read...so far...

message 109: by [deleted user] (new)

I hated the end. It was rushed and they all just went a little crazy.

message 110: by [deleted user] (new)

havent read it yet, but i need to! O.o

message 111: by Mr. Never Smiles (new)

Mr. Never Smiles i think the madness was explainable...now i must read Huntress (damn my small library)

message 112: by [deleted user] (new)

No.

message 113: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay first off- language!!! Second- what?? I'm confused!!!

message 114: by [deleted user] (new)

The one with the swear word in it. No probably isn't considered a swear word by most cultures.

message 115: by [deleted user] (new)

I love saying this...

TEAM CREEPY DEATH MONKEY FOR THE WIN!!!

message 116: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (ellielovesbooks) | 1 comments I love how Mockingjay ended. It was truly excellent. I don't think people really understand what OPPRESIVE GOVERNMENT means. The death of Prim was appropriate. It's not like Katniss was killing off everyone and going about her business like nothing happened. Prim's death was shocking and sad. But it was appropriate. Everything was perfectly pieced together...

message 117: by [deleted user] (new)

I like you ellie!!

message 118: by [deleted user] (new)

i thought the very ending with the kids and all was pretty vague

message 119: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, its just an epilogue. You can go too in-depth, but I like it cause it makes her seem like she never truly recovered (mentally).

I have claimed Finnick..... (lets say I'm Annie, because claiming another person doesn't feel right..... yeah, Annie.)

message 124: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 25, 2011 03:29PM) (new)

i think besides peeta my fav charecter is finnick, he is freckin awesome:D

message 125: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 25, 2011 06:44PM) (new)

Finnick is awsum possum!

(Disclaimer- the phrase 'awsum possum' belongs Barbara)

message 126: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry, but its just so cool! Here I'll fix my comment!

Natasha (ar y ffin) (Natasha_ar_y_ffin) I liked how Mockingjay ended. I might be in the minority here, but I thought that the book ended how it should have. On the other hand, I think it was a bit rushed.

It was rushed, that's true. But SC's true strength lies in the Arena, in my opinion.

message 129: by [deleted user] (new)

So true.

message 131: by [deleted user] (new)

At first I wasn't sure, but now I find I am happy with how it ended (laughed loads at Haymitch and the geese!!!!). I would have liked some more info in the epilogue though, like their kids names, how other characters r etc.
I don't quite get the point that Coin was trying to make with the kids, esp when the population was too low anyway.
I think everything ended as it should.

message 132: by [deleted user] (new)

I hope they didn't do those capital games. I.can see how they want justice (and secretly I want some of that justice to happen) but its just a rancid idea that only ends in more violence and hatred

message 136: by Jesse (new)

Jesse | 2 comments um just liked to say they went so off on the last book and went way out of the way to have it be a good ending. half the book she was in the hospital. prim and finnick REALLY! UNCALLED FOR. WTF BOUT ANNIE. so pissed they just got married then that happened and then annie is prego :/ .ugh so depressing gale just disapears. they make it so hard to be pro gale or pro peeta wher the involvment of each is so into her being that the ending choice was too hard to read and then gale just goes of to d2. damn someone calm me down lol

Jesse | 2 comments yah lol i read the first like a 2 years ago and i just found the rest since they got big and found time to read em and wasnt too happy

message 139: by Pip (new)

Pip (pippitybop) | 10 comments the writing was rushed, when Prim died, I had to read it twice just to figure out what happened and because of that, the death lost its weight.

SAME! It didn't really shock me at all because it was so oddly written and took me a while to understand she was actually dead :S I liked and didn't like the ending, I agree that it felt very rushed and it just felt like a lot of loose ends hadn't been tied. It just left me a wee bit confused really. And the death of Cinna made me sob. LIKE A BABY.

OMG i totally agree with you! I pretty much died myself when i read that Cinna died. Plus there was a lot more to write about like who is now the actual leader? Did they really make one more hunger games? And wtf happened to Gale? I mean i loved that she ended up with Peeta and all, but there really needs 2 be a bit more info for me 2 actually feel like the book concluded very well. And i hated that a lot of ppl i loved died, but i geuss that's what a good writer has to do to make a great book. :D

message 141: by Mockingjay (new)

Mockingjay | 8 comments I loved Mockingjay! It was exactly how it should have ended and all the events and emotions that the characters had to experience was realistic. The writing was strong and the plot was exciting. Overall all three books were AMAZING!

I wished more could be cleared up, the ending was a bit happy-go-lucky for me. :\ PTSD? Where is it? Argh.

If you've seen my post on how I thought it would end, you've seen it.

But, I said that I thought it would end with Katniss not choosing either of the boys and living alone in the wild. (Until she got a book deal. ;D)

I know! I wondered to happened to Gale, other than he went to District 2 ? WANT MOAR DETAIL >:( But yeah I agree that the deaths kind of had to happen. It would have been impossible for every character to have lived and have a happy ending..

Jia | 1342 comments Mod
There shouldn't have been a happy ending. Well, not as happy.

message 145: by [deleted user] (new)

i'm not sure what this would go under, but does anyone else wonder how it would have gone if Gale had told Katniss that he loves before she went into the games?

message 146: by [deleted user] (new)

that could have changed the whole lot

It would make it more romance oriented. :p I liked the first book for not being all about romance and such. It was more about survival and bravery/selflessness.

message 148: by britt ✨ (new)

britt ✨ (britteeebee) I don't know but that would be interesting to look at if that did happen. That would have changed the entire plot/theme of the book a great deal I think.

message 149: by Pip (new)

Pip (pippitybop) | 10 comments Jia wrote: "There shouldn't have been a happy ending. Well, not as happy."

GAH sorry, I meant it WOULDN'T have been possible for every character to have a happy ending. Typo :D

I think Katniss still would've lovie-dovied up to Peeta to stay alive in the arena (and keep him alive of course) despite Gale confessing love for her.. I'm not sure if it would've changed the plot that much.

message 150: by britt ✨ (new)

britt ✨ (britteeebee) Yeah I don't know how much exactly it would have changed the plot. I mean, Katniss did "love-dovie" up to Peeta to survive, so I'm sure she would have done the same thing. Moreso, even because she would have known she had Gale waiting at home for her (who loved her) so she would have tried to survive even harder.
