I bow to the both of them. :p

Laura Williams | 144 comments I finished The Book Thief on 4/13. I have been wanting to read that book for a long time and I am very glad that I finally did. I really enjoyed it and gave it 5 stars. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Jane, I am glad you are liking it! It's both intense and emotional. You had mentioned perhaps reading City of Bones for a buddy read. I did read it, so we can chat about it later.
With any luck I will finish one of the books recommended to me by next Saturday...this was a heavy reading month for me with other challenges.

message 1156: by Melissa ** (new)

Melissa ** | 544 comments Hey Debbie I also finished The Secret.

message 1157: by moulin (new)

moulin | 44 comments just finished A Knight in Shining Armor. I will give it three stars. Though certainly entertaining and a quick read, I found the idea of only their 'souls' finding each other a bit of a disillusionment. I was hoping that somehow, even four hundred years wouldn't separate them. Oh well.....

message 1158: by moulin (new)

moulin | 44 comments Just want to say thanks to ~Sara~ who read my pics (even though it was my first time) and Joyce who introduced me to the the wilder sexier side of PNR. I have enjoyed this challenge immensely! Thank you too Debbie!

Polina (p0lit0o) | 71 comments Hi! I finally managed to read my rec for this month Slave to Sensation and I absolutely loved it. Thanks for the great challenge I am so looking forward to next month.

message 1161: by layla (last edited Apr 22, 2011 11:46PM) (new)

layla is a picky reader | 667 comments Lili, I'm glad that you liked both Dreams of a Dark Warrior and Archangel's Consort. Nalini Singh is one of my favourite writers and I,too, liked the way she developed the relationship between Raphael and Elena - they are just so amazing together!

Shea, I've read Eternal Rider and it was a nice start of this series. I really liked the way Larissa Ione solved the problems at the end ,never thought of it! *laughs*

Nightshade was ok, I guess. I'm not into YA books, maybe because the heroine is usually not strong enough to my taste. Calla was supposed to be a warrior but she wasn't. I hated the ending and after reading so many UF with kick-ass heroines, the whole barking-without-biting set-up didn't work for me.

Pam | 1048 comments Annabel-
I started yesterday and finished this morning Darkfever. I would have finished yesterday but my husband wanted me to take a turn driving back from the beach and to finish the audiobook we started. All I can say is WOW. So this may not have ended up being a buddy read but still...thanks for the great recommendations (and adding more to my TBR).

message 1163: by Pam (last edited Apr 22, 2011 06:12AM) (new)

Pam | 1048 comments Tania-
Have been away this week and ended up with no internet access except via phone which I hate. I spent my spring break reading through my library books in order of date due. Know you've finished Desire Untamed. Will start today. Glad you've been enjoying your picks. I finished Book #4 of the Mercy Thompson series this week and I see you've made it that far. I really like the series. Hoping my trip to the library will be fruitful today!

message 1164: by Tania (new)

Tania | 644 comments My bank balance is cursing you Pam! I got Moon Called from the library, but it was sooo good I've gone and out brought the entire series as e-books. Four books in and I'm thinking it may be a series I have to buy as DTB as well. Which I do for my favourite series. So, ha booksellers who say people who by e-books don't buy "real" books as well. We do - but they have to be pretty damn special to do so (and have great cover art as well - I now refuse to buy ugly books). And I'll probably get the audio books - but that's going to be a struggle. Audible only have her fantasy books available to australia.

Actually I don't think I had a bad pick this month... I'll be hunting up more of the feral warrior stories as well, in fact would have done so already if I hadn't gotten ahold of Moon Called first.

message 1165: by Kami (new)

Kami (aidansmama) | 988 comments Yea for the Mercy books! Woo hoo. They are so good. I just recently read her newest one River Marked. Awesome!

message 1166: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments I'm reading River Marked right now. Mercy is def. my favorite UF heroine. :)

message 1167: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments I am behind on the update list due to internet problems. I will get it updated this weekend (hopefully), right now I am at the library and limited in time. I love seeing the list grow, so it will be done =o)

message 1168: by Pam (new)

Pam | 1048 comments Tania-
VERY fruitful trip to the library--really who has to host Easter dinner or grade work? I was able to get Silver Borne and the next two Fever books as well as two other brand-news by favorite authors. The sad thing about Mercy is that I only have two more and then will have to wait until a new one comes out.

I may need to upgrade my Kindle to a Nook because I can't e-library on my Kindle. I really am trying to get more from the library, although as my husband points out, if books are my worst habit....

I'm sorry to be such an enabler (he he).

Pam, great news In case you haven't heard, Amazon announced that by the end of the year we should be able to get library books for our Kindles!

message 1170: by Pam (new)

Pam | 1048 comments I hadn't heard that--thanks for letting me know. I have a first generation Kindle too. I'm surprised that in all the Amazon e-mail, I didn't hear it. Guess the competition is fierce. My other family members had I-Pads...sometimes I feel like a dinosaur but not willing to invest the dollars when there is nothing wrong with my Kindle. Plus that way, they have no desire to use my Kindle so have no need to see what I'm actually reading....I can save my dollars now for MORE BOOKS!

message 1171: by taita (new)

taita I finished The Black Lyon today. It was just OK for me. I had a hard time with the transitions and the whole misunderstanding/jealousy thing. I did like the historical detail however, and there was some funny dialogue between the two main characters.

Gigi - Thanks for the recommendation! Are you done with the book? I will be looking into reading the other books you picked out. I reserved The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie at my local library. Looking forward to reading it!

message 1172: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (bexsi) | 812 comments Okay I have finished my recs but I have not yet had time to review or rate them as I have been busy over this easter holiday, but I hope to do so in the next few days. Thanks Taita

Ritu I will be finished the buddy read Kushiel's Dart in the next few days.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments I finally finished Succubus on Top. I liked the story and I liked the writing. I just have such a hard time pulling for Georgina when she is working for the forces of evil. I kept being disappointed in her actions.

message 1174: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Hi Reb, I should be done soon too!

message 1175: by ErinsAlterEgo (new)

ErinsAlterEgo | 32 comments I finally got to read Happy Ever After! Yay! I also got to read Beyond The Highland Mist. I kind of have to succumb to what I can get from the library, and those were the two I wrangled. Some of the other ones you picked for me looked really interesting, too, though, so I'll keep an eye out for them!

I liked the book and i'm excited for the next one. i'm halfway on finishing Shiver but got loads of things to do so i haven't had the time to end it up, i'll try this week though.. thanks again.

Thank you for the picks. I finished Stolen and I enjoyed it. I wasn't sure I was going to continue with the series, but I liked this book more than book 1 of the series so maybe I will look into the next book in the series.

kerste
I finished Something About You and enjoyed it. I didn't enjoy it as much as Just the Sexiest Man Alive, but I liked the story. Will definitely read the author in the future. Thanks for the buddy read {sorry it took so long for me to respond}.

message 1178: by Penney (new)

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Hi Inga!
So, I apologize for not being such a good buddy. I finished Pride Mates almost 2 weeks ago, but I've been on vacation and have been a bit lazy with my posts.
I had mixed feelings about this book. I felt disconnected from the main characters and I thought parts of the book were a bit inconsistent. I still think it could be because I never had a chance to sit and read for any length of time. I'd get 10 pages read, tops, before I'd have to put it down, I hate reading like that. For that reason alone I'll be sure to try the next book in the series.
Thanks for the buddy read :))

Melinda, I totally agree with you. Not a terrible read, but not overly great. But was strong enough to have me looking for this author in the future.

I just finished Some Girls Bite. I really, really liked it and I cannot wait to read the next one! Thanks for the great rec!

message 1182: by Brenda (new)

Brenda (bmass) Alright, i finally finished Hush, Hush, by Becca Fitzpatrick. It was such a busy month i just got around to it.
WOW what a fantastic book. Once I started it I just couldn't stop so I think I finished it in about 3 hours. Of course I went right to amazon and bought the second book in the series.

If you enjoyed Hush,Hush read The Haunted by Jessica Verday very similar concept at least in my opinion.

Thanksfor the recommendation!!

Pam | 1048 comments I finished Desire Untamed yesterday which was supposed to be a buddy read with Tania but I was way behind her. I was okay with it. Didn't hate it, didn't love it. Knew early on who the bad guy was. Wouldn't race out for the next one but it fell in my lap I wouldn't ignore it either.

message 1184: by Melinda (new)

Melinda (craftymommy) | 766 comments Kerste. I'm really glad you enjoyed Some Girls Bite. It's a good series with characters it's easy to adore. It's only 3 books {4th due out soon} in the series so far so it's not too daunting to catch up with the rest of the books. ;)

message 1185: by Brenda (new)

Brenda (bmass) Oh AlbertaJenn and I both finished our buddy read.
The Blaze Collection: Her Sexy Valentine\Play with Me\The Charmer

I was not a fan of the first story Her Sexy Valentine.
I loved Play with Me, ( I LOVE everything Leslie Kelly writes) and I enjoyed the last story The Charmer but it was more of a sweet love story rather than the steamy romance I was expecting.

message 1186: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Sandy - I picked up City of Bones yesterday, but then realised that there were a few names I could use in the upcoming 'Name Game' tournament which doesn't start until 1 May... So I'm going to look into the second book to see if those names are repeated. If they are, I'll settle into reading it today. If not, I might delay it to May so that I can 'collect' those names :)

(The precis and the skimming I did to find the names has really whet my appetite - so looking forward to reading it!)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Yay! Sandy - I've finally finished The Hunger Games. I listened to it as an audiobook (I've been dying to hear the last CD all weekend!) and really enjoyed it. Great narrator. Overall I gave it 4 stars, downgraded only because the ending wasn't really an ending... Will have to see if the next book is available from my library as an audiobook as well.

Thanks for the great rec.

PS I'm going to start City of Bones this evening :)

Monica Maybe (monicamaybe) | 45 comments Hey Autumn,

I just finished Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas and I LOVED it! I sobbed my heart out throughout a lot of the book, and it was just an amazing read. I think it was better than Sugar Daddy in a lot of ways, and I really like it when authors write books that are a bit more real than normal romances. Thank you!

One book left, the "New" category, and yeah, I am a bit afraid and putting it off. *sheepish grin*

Vi | 2794 comments I managed to read through Kushiel's Dart (Kushiel's Legacy, #1) by Jacqueline Carey . I loved the book. I couldn't put it down so I kept trying to read on weekends instead of weekdays (work! :x). Managed to find time last weekend! Yay! Now I gotta find the other two books in the series. I found a new favorite author. Thanks Rebecca for giving me the nudge I (badly) needed.

LOL, no! I won't scold you! I'm in awe of you, willing to read all the recs! (I don't know that I could read so many books in the same month picked by somebody else.) And your recommender did a great job! You got a lot of great books - I've read 4 of them and I'm planning to read the rest. :) I'm a big HR fan and haven't read the McNaught, the Medeiros and the HR Kleypas.

What are the two books you have left?

Valerie, so glad you loved Unraveled!

It was fun reading with you! I really enjoyed Lover Unleashed! Thanks for another great pick! I am about 2/3 of the way done with One for the Money, my buddy read with Miss. She finished before me, but has been encouraging me to finish!

Freya (freya3377) In the last week I managed to finish two books - The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins and A Bend in the Road by Nicholas Sparks .

I enjoyed the Hunger Games and can't wait to get my turn for the sequels at the library.

I didn't like A Bend in the Road much. The storyline was so-so or maybe its just that I'm not in the mood for romance :D I had to get myself to finish the book; it didn't grab me!

I now have The Book Thief and Crooked House lined up. Hope I can finish them this week...

P.S. Thanks for the choices this month Laura... I'm so enjoying myself :D
