Maybe. On the other hand, probably some people just think antiheroes can result in more drama than traditional, morally more perfect heroes, and some conemporary writers have a tendency of mistaking cynicism for depth.
Anti-heroes are alright, we've always had them. It's just when they're presented as the definitive reality, my eyes start rolling. Nice to hear from you Xdyj.

I post this just to keep the Welcome folder visible on this group's homepage.

To Connor: Yes I'm back. Thanks. This group do seem to be not very active these days. Perhaps we can try some ideas used in other goodreads groups e.g. SciFi and Fantasy Book Club, like using good questions to stimulate discussions.

We could do....something.....

I'm Geoffrey. I've always read sci-fi (except that decade where all I read was non-fiction) but came to fantasy much later. Now I write sci-fi and fantasy. I live in Brooklyn, NY with my lovely wife.

Cool! Welcome!
Hey, I'm Tiffany, 23, have a BA in Creative Writing and Film and am an epic fantasy and sociological sci-fi junky, so I figured this was a good group to join.
Definitely looking forward to see what books are discussed on here. Reading is always the best research on writing.

Hi Tiffany! This group isn't quite as active as it used to be... right now we're readingA Wizard of Earthsea. If you'd like to discuss, that would be great.

Welcome! I also like sociological sf like the works of Ursula LeGuin, K. S. Robinson etc.

I love both sci fi and fantasy, though prefer sci fi, particularly authors like Peter F. Hamilton and Iain M. Banks.
