Jackie, Because I have so many books that are old and no covers are available on Goodreads, I made a list off Advanced Book Exchange which had pictures of my books. I can't transfer them but if you go to the numbers I will list you will be able to verify. The numbers might be off a little because books may have been added or sold but should be in the vicinity of the number:Red Sky at Night, Lovers Delight, #42
This Rough Magic, #443
The Piper on the Mountain, #108
The Lieutenant's Lady, #87
In the Hands of the Senecas, #6
Red Sky at Night, Lovers' Delight, #42
Summer of the Dragon, #153
Officially Dead #48
Three Men in a Boat - There were 2021 posts of this book on ABE with NUMEROUS different covers, NONE of which is mine! Mine was published (reprinted) in 1983 by Alan Sutton Publishing Limited, in Guernsey, Channel Islands, and Illustrated by S. A. Boakes. This edition was sent to my mother from England by a dear friend of hers at that time.
You said that you made a list off of Advanced Book Exchange with pictures of the books you read... Where is the list? How do we get to it? LOL
Becky wrote: "Whew Jeane... gotta make it difficult, don'tcha?! LOL I'll leave that one up to Jackie, since the rules for that category do say that the cover must be for the edition you read. I just searched an..."
hehe Becky, that is me...you should know that! :-)
Thanks Maude!

ok, thanks
The list is Message No. 310. The numbers after the books refer to the number where I saw the book on ABE with a picture so that it could be verified as the correct edition.
I am making this really difficult but for my cover problem book, I see the green one as the popular version, which doesn't show grass or so on the cover according to me....
Maude - I'm not sure if I'm following you... It seems like you're saying that we would have to go to that site (and I'm still not sure what it is) and then search for the book and then find the book cover?
Are you not able to link to the page with the cover image from the 3rd party site? Even if you could just copy the URL that would be much easier...

Becky, I never meant for this to be difficult. ABE is short for Advanced Book Exchange which is a place to buy books. The books are numbered 1 to ..... They are listed in order that they are posted - thus I numbered the book which was my book - otherwise someone would have to scroll over lots of books to find the copy I had read for Goodreads. I felt it would be relatively simple to just go to the book, verify it met the criteria I said it did and that's it. You do not have to search for the book if you go to the number I gave - however, should a book of that name been sold (not necessarily my book), it would, of course, change the number of the book. But it would only be a few numbers lower or higher and it is very easy to spot the right book. This is really easy to do and someone could get it done in 10 minutes or so but I don't know if I am explaining it well enough??
Jeane wrote: "I am making this really difficult but for my cover problem book, I see the green one as the popular version, which doesn't show grass or so on the cover according to me...."I don't see grass either, but it looks like there is a bird there so you can get a point for animal. Unfortunately, I can't make the cover bigger on my work pc so when I get home I'll take a look at it.
You mean AbeBooks.com?
We would have to search for the book by title, and then scroll page by page to find the one you listed - I just tried it with "Red Sky at Night, Lovers Delight":
http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookD...
If you can link the URL for each of them like I just did, Maude, then we can count them. The cover should be included in the post for reporting the points to make it easy for us to verify. I know that not all books will have covers on Goodreads, which is fine, but in that case you'd have to provide the link or picture of the book some other way.
Recording and verifying the points is already pretty difficult and honestly this seems pretty complicated for Heather to do for each one of those books. I only had to go through 2 pages to find that one, but one of the books you list is number 443, which is quite a few pages to go through, with no "go to page" option. =\

Becky, That looks so good but I do not know how to do it. I have learned a lot over the years but I have never had a computer class, although I learned a lot about computer use that was specific to my work. But it was always set up by the IT guys. So you need to tell me how to do it.
OK - in any browser you should have an address bar at the top of the screen. The "address" for the page you're on is called the URL and every web page has a unique one - the one for this page is http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/5...
So, to link to the page with the book image, you would go through the process until you find the right book, click on the book title on AbeBooks, which will take you to that book's specific details page, and then highlight the URL at the top of your browser window - right click and click "copy" or press ctrl & C at the same time to copy, and then come back here and paste it by either right clicking in the text box and choosing "paste" or pressing ctrl & v at the same time.
If you're using a Mac, I don't know how you would copy & paste, but I assume it would be similar - highlight what you want to copy, choose the copy option, then paste it back here (or wherever else you want to share it).

Becky, Would it not be better to add as book/author so it would always be available? If so, can you tell me where to put it in that case?
That's more complicated, Maude - the books would have to be added to the database as alternate cover editions by a Goodreads librarian. I am one, but I don't have time to do it.
Maybe later tonight if I have time. In the meantime though, copying the AbeBooks URL will be fine. :) Thanks!

I have a question, I am reading "People of the Book". Some of the stories take place in the 1940's and one or two take place in the 1800s. Some the 1990s. Could I claim points for the 1800s and 1940s time period?
Re: Madame Tussaud. I was so looking forward to reading this book and so far, I'm disappointed. I'm about 100 pages into it and not exactly bored, but it's rather dry and for me, the characters are a bit steriotypical. We'll see what happens as I go along further.
