R2 TEAM THREAD: Team #4 May the 4ce Be with You [THIRD PLACE]

Should all the members of our team add eachother as friends so it's easy to see what we all are up to etc...? Steph as the moderator, what has been done in the past?

You don't need to add everyone as friends but it is fun to meet (so to speak) new peeps.

Hope mailman delivers River Marked soon! so good! *sigh*
So many choices, um, either

Glad to see everyone seems to be off to a good start.
Vivian, if you started Demon Glass less than 15 1/2 hrs ago, you can use it as your shelf book. Since, technically, you can start reading your shelf book as soon as the shelf is announced. If not, then I'm a fan of Night Huntress & haven't yet started Dresden, so that'd be my choice.
Happy Reading, Team! :D

But I'll say Free Space finished with

This is the second book in the YA series and continues with Sophie spending the summer with her dad, who happens to be head of the supernatural counsel. There's an evil organization out to kill Sophie, someone's magicking up demons, we've got the prerequisite love triangle as well as a forbidden romance, all that fun stuff. There's plenty of snarky humor and one-liners, and a good, fun vibe to the overall story. Definitely one of the better YA series I've encountered :)

*Go out and buy it now!
*Pick it up if you have the chance cause it's lots of fun!
*Good for a beach or rainy afternoon
*Other (write-in rating category)

I would say:
*Pick it up if you have the chance cause it's lots of fun! Fun being the key word. The series is published by Disney Hyperion, and definitely has that happy Disney vibe going on, even with attempts being made on people's lives and all that jazz.

Love the rating poll, Judithe! Too cute! And, looking forward to the answer too. :)

“Sophie, I was a jerk to you yesterday.”
He didn’t actually say “jerk,”but another word that was way more accurate.
I'm a dork, I know, but I love the innocence in editing out swear words :)

Free space read (TBR when it finally arrives)

'part-of-a-series' read (TBR as soon as I finish reading Luna ~ which s/b soon)

You can view it here and {Team Stats Updated} on Google spreadsheet.
GO TEAM!
Be sure to let us know what your choices are for each (free space & 1st shelf) whenever you've picked one TBR. :D

And LOL I feel super behind... I've only read the first of the Mercy books.

And toes and legs and arms! Bring it to me, now, please ... pretty please with cherries and whipped cream on top? :D
Hope you enjoy Blood Song, Cinnamon. I like that series.
Oooh, enjoy, Zina! That's a wild ride. :)

I decided on

@Jo: Oooh, I really want to read Angelfire. Waiting for your review.
Finished Bloodfever for the part of a series shelf: 3.5/5 stars.
I'm sure almost everyone here has read Bloodfever already, but anyways... This book picked up a lot faster than Darkfever and was an intense/addicting read. I love Mac's evolution and the new powers she gain, even if it is only temporarily. Barrons and V'lane are their usual sexy selves LOL. I will be looking forward to the next book.

Part-of-a-series
This Side of the Grave 3.6.11 ****
By this point in the series, you're a fan or you've stopped reading. If you're still reading the series, you're in for a lot of Cat and Bones - we get an attempt to repeat the infamous Ch.32, they turn on the sap with more lovey-dovey-ness than I cared for, and their relationship wouldn't be complete without some innuendos and awkward situations that leave Cat blushing. The story doesn't start moving until the second half but when it does, it's good. Fun, good, I'm not raving, but I enjoyed it.

My review is posted. Mercy is damaged after the events of Iron Kissed and goes to help a friend rid her home of a ghost. Stefan comes through for Mercy as a faithful friend and protector. Mercy becomes Adam's mate. Lots of action, politics, and scary characters.
Steph - I posted this one as part of a series. If it can work as the Bonus, no problem. Literally every book I read is part of a series so there shouldn't be a problem finding the next book.

Rating: 4 stars
Review: Great read. The best thing about this book is the character of Jericho Barrons. He's a mystery; is he good or bad? Is he Fae or something else? Everytime we get some hint or clue it only leads to more questions. Luckily I already have the fourth book on hand, so the cliffhanger ending won't drive me too crazy!

And thank you very much, Steph, for going through all the new posts and compiling the books read for each shelf:)!

Funny. Seems "River Marked" and the Fever series are hot for this round throughout all teams.

In typical YA form, there was a girl, Jessie, with a crush on a hot guy, then a new boy, Pietr, comes to school (hot, Russian and mysterious). She's assigned as his guide, show him around school, get him to class on time, etc. All the girls ooh and aah over the hot, new guy, but she's not initially all that impressed (other than he's sweet eye candy). Her two BFFs are interesting themselves. Sarah, a former icy, frenemy, now sweet, word-a-holic BFF. Amy is a hoot, tells it like it is, calls you on your lies, down-to-earth, true-to-heart BFF. New guy's obviously interested in Jess, her cool BFF tells her. WHATever, she can't believe it. There's also a mysterious wolf wandering around town .... Hmmmm. LOL!
Things I liked:
* Russian - lived in E. Europe for a few years, so it was fun seeing some Russian thrown in
* Hot, Russian dudes - can totally picture it
* Shifters - always a +
* Main chickie, Jess, was realistic, didn't fall head over a$$, instantly in luv with the new guy, even though he was obviously interested
* Single Dad doin' the best he can to raise two daughters - while keeping a sense-of-humor
Things that could'a been better:
* Russian - If the guy and his brothers spoke Russian occasionally mixed with English in school (things like Yes, Thank you, Sorry), they wouldn't have chatted (in the privacy of their house) in English. They'd have been rambling on in full blown Russian, I'm sure.
* Twisted, now sweet BFF storyline was a little over-the-top - I get most of it (Jess being classified as a martyr), but then it just got to the point where it was unbelievable for me
* A few similarities to "the series that shall not be named" (starts with a 'T', if you're wondering WTH?), but none of the, what I call, "bad bits" of that story.
The second 1/2 was a lot better than the 1st. I was intrigued enough by the end to be interested in continuing on with the series.
** I also read the prequel: Beasts and BFFs. I'm glad I got it for free b/c there's not much of anything to it. It didn't add anything to the story, IMO. It was more like a snapshot of the three girls' day out.

Your read seems interesting. Maybe next time I'm in the mood to try a new YA.

It was decent. I'm anxious to see if #2 holds some answers to ? I have from #1. We'll see. Not bad, if you feel like a YA. :)

Gave it 5/5
Review: It was fantastic, there’s really nothing like it in Young Adult. In a lot of YA books, they like to take you down old Cliché Road, but Angelfire avoided this nicely. :) I love it when that happens.
So, random hot guy just comes into Ellie’s completely normal life one day and starts sprouting stories about her being some kind of ancient warrior. She reacts as any real teen girl would: anger, fear & what-the-hell-is-this-guy-on. But, of course, she gets it eventually and becomes the kick-ass, save-the-world superhero that can make magic swords appear out of nowhere. (Magic swords... Who doesn’t love magic swords?)
And the romance, you gotta love it. Those two are just so perfect for each other. There isn’t a whole lot, so it definitely doesn’t become sappy. There’s none of that destined-to-be-together mush. They know their main purpose is to hunt down the bad guys, not make out. Though, I kinda find it hard to believe that he’s been in love with her for centuries and hasn’t made a move. I mean, really. Taking it slow is one thing, but damn, 500 years, dude.

Typically me too. Although, lately, I've had decent luck. Ya never know though, that's for sure.

Sorry, would you mind also posting the date you finished reading as well? I am 1/2 a day ahead of EST, so I'm never 100% when everyone finished. Thanks :)

Zina - enjoy the book. So many twists and turns in there, you're in for a ride!

I really enjoyed how this fairly new werewolf (3 years) has learned to live with her situation. At the beginning of the book, she is rather submissive to almost a nauseating degree. As the story progresses, Kitty proves that she will become a strong presence.

The City of Bones trilogy-turned-series is pretty good compared to the rest of the YA paranormals out there:).
