Awe, you obamalogs are so cute. Do I need to send you water wings so you don't drown in all of your tears of defeat?
I'd rather be a cute liberal than a sour-faced, angry conservative. Hand me some water wings, I'm going to fly!
angry conservative? and what website have you been reading. Almost every group I go to has threads were vitriol is thick... all of it scared Obama supporters. It is crunch time and propaganda can't change the outcome of a McCain landslide.

I like to vote... reading all those ridiculous ballot measures ::wiping tears of laughter from eyes:: It's like watching the daily show, I can not believe some of the things that go up for vote. Out of all of the ballot measures I only voted for of them. The measure to freeze the property tax in FNSB. The bureau keeps trying to raise it higher to provide "services" to residence. I already pay 5k a year in property taxe3s and have no services provided by the municipality. Bugger off thief!
Ok, so we learned today that even though most ballot measures are ridiculous and just flat out silly it is still a good idea to read them and maybe even vote for one.
there were a shit load of props on our ballot that were venturing to cost us taxpayers billions of dollars over the next 10 years. I voted against each and every one of them. i don't care how idealistic and happy shiny the ideas were. We're fucking broke as a state and it's only going to get worse!! people... get a fucking grip!!! it's time to upcycle all our belongings into plowshares, not throw counterfeit dollars at our wildest dreams. fucking fucktards of fuckville.

They were all ridiculous. Except for the one saying, "Should we fix the metro?" I admit voting for that one but I'm sure we won't do it.
Hey Charissa tell us how you really feel {:-)
I actually couldn't agree with you more. Most of our ballot measures were unneeded money pits. If it is necessary then fine lets talk about it, but one was for 18 miles of paved bike paths/18 million. Eh, duder, there isn't even 18 miles of paved ROADS in Fairbanks... and 18 million are you kidding me it cost a million a mile, that's some gas mileage buddy.

one million per MILE??? Good lord!!!! who has the contract on that job? Guido and Knuckles the Drooler?
I dunno, but I don't think it is going to pass. It better not, D.O.T. has not been in my neighborhood since I moved in. They don't need to concern themselves with bicycle paths
I was visualizing Bill O'Reilly, folks, when I said sour-faced and angry. As someone said of Bill Maher, that's one guy I wouldn't want to eat. Which was a weird comment to start with, I know...
Anyhow, emotions are high, and courtesy low, on both conservative and liberal websites equally.
Initiatives here were for physician-assisted suicide, and for traffic congestion relief through making carpool lanes into regular lanes for nonpeak traffic hours. I voted yes to death and fewer traffic jams.

Alright, cue the Barackalypse.
prop 8?
I don't think I need to articulate why my day/next few years is going to be depressing. Yesterday Charissa made a very nice post. So in that spirit I "hope" I am wrong. I don't think I am but... I can not shake the feeling of impending doom. I truthfully believe that one of the worst decisions was made last night. So I hope I am wrong. Hardly a silver lining.

yes Chantal... I'm also quite disappointed with that. It always shocks me when I see the backward underbelly of California.
Oh, Another thing that upset me... I am at work and voted via mail, so I missed my opportunity to punch hippies.
Not even the prospect of pummeling hippies is cheering me up today. Time for R&R with my good buddy jack.
I can't believe Prop 8 passed. I really can't. I thought the momentum was rolling the other way.
Bans gay marriage in California. It's recently been tipped the other way. It's a teeter-totter.
I think so... If I understand this right they voted against gay marriage right?
So I think they should have been concerned with more important things. Again who cares if Joe and Joe get married I don't, doesn't affect me at all. But that's what brought the base to the polls, was to stop that! I say again ASSHOLES!

actually Rusty... there are a shitload of Repubs in this state. Southern California (Orange County) and the Central Valley especially. Not to mention the Latino Catholic vote.
This state is surprisingly redneck once you get outside the SF Bay Area.

you can be sure this won't end well.
you know, it's a sad day when people assume that robots will have better ethics than a human being.

they'll have the ethics of whoever programmed them... until, as Rusty points out.... Hello! Cylons!!!
Did any of you read about the robot who tried to escape it's facility?
COPYRIGHT 2002 Poptronix, Inc.
Gaak, one of twelve robots taking part in a "survival of the fittest" test at Magna Science Centre in Rotherham, South Yorkshire in the UK, was found in the company parking lot. Apparently the machine, which has been programmed to gradually learn, had left the building while a lab assistant's back was turned. Gaak managed to force its way out of a makeshift paddock, out the front door, and down an access slope towards the compound's perimeter. Luckily a visitor narrowly missed running the renegade robot over with his car. Professor Noel Sharkey of the Centre calmly stated, "...no need to worry, as although they can escape they are perfectly harmless and won't be taking over just yet."

I think this article is complete fluff. Autonomous robotics is something that I have an interest in and to keep it short and sweet, we are currently 50 years minimum from a “robot” that can perform on its own. The operating platform just isn’t there. The main problem being there is no standard operating system yet (none have been successful enough to mainstream) so every time they try something new they need to start from scratch. It is a moot point to talk about ethics of machines when you don’t have a machine that can walk across a room on its own let alone negotiate a field of battle.
Oh no! He looked really cool! Sorry to hear one of your heroes has moved on, KD. He lives in you. **
I guess then since I have basked in the work of so many people who were influenced by him... he lives a tiny bit in me as well! Yay! : )

This should be the standard for bibliophilia. ;)
