A Day in the Life

What did the opposite of cheering you up today?
I had to get up super early today (for me) to get picked up at 6:30 a.m. and travel an hour up I-5 to Issaquah for a WashYARG meeting.
So after blearily dragging myself out of my cozy bed, dressing, packing lunch, and getting myself out to the curb at 6:30 on the dot... my ride was 20 minutes late.
Bah.

Sadly, we don't see the actual town part of Issaquah when we go, Ko. We just see the part with the King County Library System adminstration building, and the Target shopping center where we park. It is generic northwest suburb, and could be anywhere.
Uh, except the part about being in the foothills of the Cascades...
It is beautiful here today, Ko. Impossibly blue skies, warm sun, and all the roses and pansies and trees are thriving. It's like summer got shifted to September this year.

Yeah, that drive from Tacoma can be brutal, which is why we all pack lunches and eat in the car, so we can get out of Issaquah at 1:00 p.m. and drive south as fast as is legally possible.
That's right, I was NOT allowed to drive...

I'm excited about my latest friend. She's from Germany, and I'm hoping she'll become a GoodReads librarian, and combine some of those German editions I can't make heads or tales of.

I use to say dont trust anyone over 30 looks like I need a new philosophy!
I'm sorry, Tom. It hurts to lose a favorite author even from natural causes, so to have them cut their lives short early just is awful.
yup. I saw that a few days ago. hundreds are dead as well. it's stunning how little human life means to them as a nation.
Oh, I don't BUY the stuff, but if it's around, I eat it. I know Kisses aren't good chocolate, but I can't help it!
No longer, though. :::crosses arms with resolve:::

Milk Duds, huh? Weren't those already just "chocolatey"?
I don't know about having a sour taste, I just know that I prefer dark chocolate, and good luck finding much of that down any American supermarket candy aisle.

Well, nothing beats Lindt, and I like Droste, too - I get their cocoa to make hot chocolate with.
But Ritter Sport is very good German chocolate, and it comes in some delicious varieties. I love the marzipan/dark chocolate, it's like a little piece of heaven in my mouth! But my friend Mary, who prefers milk chocolate, didn't care for it at ALL. Too bitter for her, I think. And you have to like marzipan.

All I ever get is the marzipan Ritter Sports, and not very often, because the whole thing is an insane amount of calories.
So, yeah, I can't vouch for the other kinds. Oh, except stay away from the weird Yogurt flavor. Not good, according to Chris. His curiosity got the better of him...

What!?! Why would anyone do that, Dave? Sheesh.
Was it recently? Maurice left again a week or two ago, so if he was a friend, he'd get deleted from your friends.

It's funny - for all the people on GoodReads, there aren't that many who actually interact on a regular basis.
Uhm. Fran's!
Now I am totally craving those chocolate covered caramels with the gray salt on top... Dang they're expensive, though!

And now I'm bummed because Chris ate the last of the chocolate chips, and there is no chocolate in the house.
And it's too cold for popsicles.

If I ever get back to Paris, forget fashion! I'm going to do a chocolatier tour!
And go to the museums and see art, to build my appetite back up...

I just brought home a Ritter Sport, and I am noticing how sweet it is, compared to most of the chocolate I eat now. I first had these in high school, so they may be a throwback to younger, sweeter tastes, Bunny and Sherri.
I also brought home a Green & Black's Maya Gold, which is bittersweet dark chocolate with orange and spices. Sadly, I have to say that the spices, which seem to just be clove, are overwhelming, and make it hard to enjoy the chocolate.
Maybe if I ate it at the same time as having a piece of pumpkin pie?

That sounds divine, Bunny. It's a perfect day here for tea - drizzly and overcast. No cookies in the house, though. Just the fancy chocolate.
Darn! ;D
Darn! ;D
I like them, too. I also like British digestive biscuits, plain or with chocolate. And, of course, those go especially well with tea.

My Scottish relatives introduced me to digestive biscuits, and tea, on a trip to my dad's old home, back when I was in 10th grade.
RA, digestives are similar to graham crackers, but yummier, especially when they are coated with chocolate. They come in tubes like these:

I agree with RA, They need a better marketing firm or something... Call them yum buns from now on.
Those wacky British are terrible at naming stuff, Nick. They call cookies "biscuits", mmm tasty.
Not. And they mix up chips with french fries, and call actual potato chips "crisps".
Really, though, what can you expect from a country that eats "mushy peas"?

Hahahahahahahaha!!!! Good point. Cookies are a silly, nondescriptive name.
Okay, Bunny, what would YOU call cookies?

I wonder why so many Americans have gigantic asses, and thunder thighs…
But it just tastes sooooo good.
But it just tastes sooooo good.
I like gingerbread boys, petits-fours, snickerdoodles, gingersnaps, and my mom's chocolate drops.
And my ass is within normal parameters.

I think it also has a lot to do with all the processed shit we consume. Exercise would be a good start but I don’t know how much of an impact it would have when almost everything we consume is loaded with high fructose corn syrup and the like.
That’s why I stick to lager.

Now, why is it that guys have no body image problems, and women fret about the least little thing?
I'm going to have some chocolate and think the issue over...

Well, I have just accepted the fact that I am past my prime, I am not going to worry away my life about hair, love handles, or a mild case of lager gut.
Also, Obamamania.
