I hadn't seen her in awhile and saw her today. That was cheerier? ... this probably belongs on the other thread, but the cat thing was here. :)
Feel better, RA!

Ugh, strep throat. I had that continuously when I was a kid, RA. Mmmm, penicillin!
I am enjoying the first illness-free fall in a looong time, because I'm not around kids every day at work. They are little incubators of pestilence, and if you are in their proximity, there is no escape! You will get sick.

RA... I'm so sorry your kid has strep. I had that once and it was awful!! I hope you don't get it!! Lots of vitamin C and Zinc!!!
I'm on the third day of antibiotics, so soon I should stop feeling like death warmed over... and move on to feeling like hot hot death, fresh and yummy. Took Benadryl last night so I could sleep. Cough kept me awake most of the night anyway. Feh. But I discovered that if I sleep draped over a pile of pillows, chest down, that I cough a lot less. My boobs, however, are deeply unhappy.
Jackie, your new avatar rocks my socks baby. You are the Queen of Librarians.

Sarah Montambo is the inspiration for the new avatar. She found this website called Yearbook Yourself, where you can plug your picture in to different dreadful yearbook fashions. The hair and glasses are not actually me, but... yeah, my avatar suits me peculiarly well, I think. :D

I think you picked a tricky photo to work with, Charissa. I couldn't get that one to look right for me:

It took me awhile to realize you could adjust the image if you put the cursor over the little plus sign at the bottom, and that brought up the shrink/enlarge buttons, and the left/right/up/down button, too.
That way you can get your image in just the right spot, and size.
But for some of them, there's just no hope:

What has downpressed me today is the awful problem I seem to have caused myself in a thread I started in the Feedback group. I didn't mean to make any trouble but I have and I can't find a way out of it. I don't seem to have a regulator in my brain that says 'this is appropriate' and 'this is not appropriate' instead my huge cow hooves go pounding all over the swampy ground. I'm going back to work. Work as a distraction.

I read Dottie's post that you quoted, and without her edit, her meaning of "US site" is ambiguous. I think she's took your comment the wrong way and is still running with it. Your original question was interesting, and I don't think you should feel bad for it. Sometimes, however - and you know this as well as I - you have to walk away from discussions, even ones you started, before they drive you crazy. Have fun at the book store!
(I have noticed, recently, that I have been, most unfortunately, placing many more clauses in my sentences, due to the influence of one author, a Mr. Henry James. This makes me immensely sad.)

Petra...as someone who regularly puts his feet (plural) in his mouth on threads, trust me, it blows over:) I agree with Cyril...get out for a while.
I'm sorry your kitty isn't doing well, Sherri.
:::hugs:::
And Petra, I'm sorry things got sticky over in the Feedback group. That can suck all the joy right out of GoodReads, when that happens. :::hugs Petra, too:::

When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive... so, I took her to a gas station...
And then the fight started....
And then the fight started....

Petra, I had a look too and I thought that there would have been no issue at all if the other party hadn't decided to 'out' herself (assuming that she was the one to whom you referred!). I second what Sherri said. You sound OK to me!

Sherri, spend time with Ophelia, and big hugs.

Well at least not there! :D

If by nature you mean painful little balls of ice falling from the sky, then yes, I hate it with a passion, RA.
The only frozen form of water I enjoy is an ice cube floating in a tall glass of lemonade on a hot summer day. Oh, and cheesy ice sculptures.

I had to laugh when it said that the temperatures drop at nightfall and when you enter the ice hotel you feel a blast of warm air - somewhere between -5 and -8C. Warm!

Hee...that's almost worth quoting on my profile...
Do you not like snow, either?

That ice hotel looks like one of the circles of hell to me, Petra!
I managed to get a walk in, during a "sun break" between weather systems. It's very changeable out there today, and there have been rainbows. Yippee!
Oh, did I tell you it is "Walktober" here at work? Yes, we're all doing a grant-funded Wellness Program, where you earn different color leaves to put on your calendar, depending on how many minutes you walk each day. 30 minutes in a day gets you a red leaf, 45 an orange leaf, and 60 or more a gold leaf. Oooh!
It's so very elementary school, and it's working on me. :)
Snow is lovely to look at from inside the house, RA.

edit: Can you combine two thirty minute leaves for a 60 minute leaf?
You can combine your minutes of walking only if it's still the same day, RA.
I don't know why you wanted to see the leaves, RA, but here you go:

Aren't they pretty, Bunny? The leaves really are motivational! :)
Today is not yet over, RA! But it's true, normally I walk in the morning, and I didn't today because of the stinkin' weather. I had trouble even getting out of bed, it was so dark and rainy. Ugh.
Ah, the 13th. All Staff Day. Funny, Human Resources, who administers both All Staff Day and Walktober, didn't schedule a time for staff to do their Walktober walking that day. I commented about that very issue on my evaluation, yes, I did!
It was nasty outside that day anyway, windy and drizzly and cold. And by the time all the speeches and sessions were over, and I got to go home, I was exhausted. Excuses, excuses...

What the hell am I going to do on Saturday mornings? I love the farmers market. Maybe I'll go to Whole Foods instead, but it won't be the same.
aren't there Fruit stands out where you are? We have these little produce shacks out in the country here. The one here in Petaluma is called "Palace of Fruit". Heather and I crack up every time we pass it. We take turns making up alternate names for it:
Lean-to of Fruit
Geodesic Dome of Fruit
Outhouse of Fruit
Mother-in-law Unit of Fruit
Dilapidated Building of Fruit
It is anything but a palace, I assure you. But hey, the fruit there is pretty darn good.

fruit stands should be like electrical outlets. One every three feet. Or in this case, one in every town. : )

I guess I'm fairly lucky. My farmer's market is open until the end of December. I need some more apples - I just had this new variety that was similar to a Gala but crisper, called a Sonya, and it was delicious.
It was grown here in Washington, though, so I don't know how available it is in other states.

Snow! Holy heck! I'm staying in Portland forever.

I'm worried about the clothes on the line.
