Wow; are these all books that you were already reading or that you have queued to read? :)

If you like Levithan, there is a sequel called Behemoth. I also wasn't into steampunk at all, but after I read Leviathan, I went out and bought Behemoth. Haven't read it yet - it is on my stack!

I'm reading it now! It's really good so far!
good day for me so far 2:February Read-a-Thon Challenges
24hr Spree February 19th - February 20th
1. Not-quite-a-chunkster:
2. No more peek-a-booKs:
3. I hereby swear that I will not procrastinate:
4. Random fortune: (195)
5. Loved one's golden touch: family chose
6. Member choice: The Bride (357 pgs. - Scottland)
7. Globe-trotter: The Alchemist (167 pgs. - Egypt)
Busy afternoon, but I was able to read while out, so I just finished my first book for the challenge/read-a-thon.1)Obsidian Butterfly (596 pages)
2)Someone to Watch Over Me (I'm not a big romance fan, let alone historical romance, but everyone keeps telling me to read Kleypas)
3)The Reluctant Miss Van Helsing(on list since I bought it in May of 2009!)
4)Betrayals
6)The Hunger Games (from Aths' shelf)
7)Poison Study (not sure where it takes place, but it's not America!)
I just finished Cold Hands, Warm Hearts by Jenny Jacobs. I had several interruptions today, and then a friend stopped by with whom I wanted to visit, so this is just my first book finished for the day. I'm going to start the second one now, but it is good that I am planning to do the week-long one as well since today wasn't very productive in terms of reading!
Melissa, do you have the new Mercy Thompson, River Marked? I just picked it up at the library. It doesn't fit in any of the challenges, but I don't think I'll be able to wait a week.
Lisa S wrote: "So far I've finished 3 books."Me too, but I've only read 343 pages from those three books. Barely the equivalent of 1 book. But, I like the challenges this Read-a-thon. It forced me to finish those three books off- two of them were starting to drag on a while. I needed to finish a few things before I could add new books.
Just finished my second book The Monstrumologist which was also #5 of the challenge. What a creepy YA novel, not for the weak-hearted (but I liked it). I'm off to start my No more peek-a-booKs book: Virgin Mistress, Scandalous Love-1Child. It's a shortie so I should have a short-painful read ;-)
Total thus far:
2 Books
724 Pages
Challenges Completed:
#5
Just finished book 2. Onto to book 3 which fills one of the mini-challenges - A country I've never been to. Just starting The Discovery of Chocolate by James Runcie. Countries: Spain and South America.
Told you it would be quick...just finished my romance which completes challenge #2 and think I'll head to Paris to complete challenge #7.So far--
3 Books
902 Pages
Challenges 2 and 5 complete!
Yesterday was not productive at all. I was hoping to put a dent into my books, but finished one audio book and read only 80 pages of my chunkster. I just saw the post for the mini-challenge and can probably work it into another challenge from a different group, so I'll give it a go:1.
2. High Fidelity (English - makes me think of Shakespeare and I get High School flashbacks...LOL)
3. The Time Traveler's Wife (536 pgs.)
4.
5.
6.
7.
Finished a book I started before the readathon:Starvation lake by Bryan Gruley 370p (170p for readathon)
Amy wrote: "Yesterday was not productive at all. I was hoping to put a dent into my books, but finished one audio book and read only 80 pages of my chunkster. Is there anything more intimidating that that?
I just finished The Colorado Kid by Stephen King. It's a hard-boiled mystery he did for some crime imprint, and while it had some strong description, overall it was, at best, meh. I don't normally read hard-boiled crime, so this fit challenge #2. I expected more of King, and I figured he would make the genre interesting for me. I ended up giving this book 2 stars.Mini-challenges so far:
1. Doomsday Book
2.
3. Flow Down Like Silver: Hypatia of Alexandria
4. The Ice Queen
5. How the Soldier Repairs the Gramophone
6. ???
7. Embers
Partial book in progress at start of challenge:
Running total:
2 books
244 pages
Shay wrote: "Melissa, do you have the new Mercy Thompson, River Marked? I just picked it up at the library. I don't know why I put off reading Silver Borne until just now. She's one of the author's that I automatically buy so I've had Silver Borne since it came out last year. Amazon says March 1st is release date for River Marked so not sure when I'll get it! I'm jealous you got your hands on a copy already! I really loved Silver Borne and am looking forward to reading more about Mercy and Adam.
I am about halfway through Betrayals and only paused to look up some of the foreign language that was being spoken. I had to see if he was sweet talking her, making fun of her, or being sarcastic. :) It was driving me crazy not to know what he is calling her. It's been too long since I read the first book, but I probably should have remembered what he was saying.
Melissa wrote: "Shay wrote: "Melissa, do you have the new Mercy Thompson, River Marked? I just picked it up at the library. @ Julie - They are all in progress - i've have a pretty bad case of book ADD the last week and haven't been able to concentrate for long periods of time, so I kept starting books...lol! plus with the 2 NF ones, I can only read a bit at a time and one of them is an Audiobook (The Help)
I technically finished up my second book of the challenge, but since I only had 20 pages left to read in it, i'm not counting it

I will keep plugging away, though, because it has gotten so many great reviews.
Not doing well. Woke up late, spent 3 hours getting my hair done (don't ask) and then to a family dinner. Didn't get home til 10. Only finished one short book for #5 - Rex Zero - King of Nothing - by Tim Wynne Jones - one of my students recommended. Good for kids. 220 pagesAlso finished up the Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan - the author of the Percy Jackson series. This time the series is about Egyptian gods. Great book! Riordan just gets better and better! 512 pages
I finished my first book late last night (I love letting myself read until I fall asleep! I don't get to do it often since I usually have to be up early in the morning for work, but I gave myself special permission because of the read-a-thon, LOL).The Sandman: Book of Dreams Challenge #1 (Not Quite a Chunkster, 416 pages)
I just had to share this. I'm at the tail end of book 3 for me and I pulled something that's been on my pile for at least 2 years but fit the criteria for the different country. I have to say thank you, thank you. I don't know when I would have picked this up to read, but it's been one of the most beautiful books I've ever read.
Only read 1 book plus 2 partial in 24-hour readathon for a total of 552 pages.Mini-Challenges
1. The Falcon at the Portal @464 pages - currently listening
2. ?

4. False Colours - just started this morn

Am I correct? I can double-dip on Falcon because it's also an almost-chunky?

Yep! That's right! You can use the same book for #1 and any other (#7 in your case).
Onto book 4. The Women by TC Boyle. This one fits the Chunk category as well as having been on my pile for more than a year.

FInished A Hint of Wicked by Jennifer Haymore which is book three for me so far this read a thon and fits the first mini challenge. I have decided to skip the other challenges and focus on reading the next book in the Outlander series for me (1400 pages) A Breath of Snow and Ashes. That should take me all work when you figure in being at the office.

I am not doing as well as I hoped...Babysitting a lot has interfered with my reading time! I've only finished one so far: Forevermore by Cathy Marie Hake (352 pages)
I'm glad I'm doing the week-long Read-a-thon because the 24-hour one was a bust for me this time. I did just finish two more books, bringing my total to 3 so far:Your Mind At Its Best: 40 Ways to Keep Your Brain Sharp
This book qualifies as a #2 on the mini-challenge as my No more Peek-a-book, since it is nonfiction and I don't really read much nonfiction. I have been wanting to read this one for a while, though, and it is a great book. There is even a quote about reading being one of the top things you can do to keep your mind sharp. I knew it!! These Read-at-thons are keeping all of our brains healthy!!
The other book I finished is called We Could Be Brothers by Derrick Barnes.
It is a simple, but good book for young adults with a good message.
Off to do more reading....

I'm moving on to How the Soldier Repairs the Gramophone. (Surprisingly to me, its the only book on my tentative read-a-thon list that is on my Kindle. I managed to choose a whole list of books that are physically on my home bookshelves already, completely unintentionally. But hey...it's always good to get to some from the home shelf TBR!)
